Any reason the new map isn't kill switched yet?
Since the devs came up with an excuse yesterday that the new map spawning that many pallets is a bug and unintentional. Why isn't it kill switched yet?
Comments
-
Because the bug isn’t game breaking like other map issues such as spots where you can’t be hooked
The map is functional just spawning too much pallets
15 -
I don't think they came up with an excuse, I think they just straight-up explained what the problem was.
12 -
Which is game breaking. Even the babiest of survivors can loop an M1 killer for 2-3 gens by pre dropping pallets and running to another.
7 -
If the developer does not consider it a game breaking bug, it will not be kill switched.
Well, as a band-aid to that bug, the developer seems to have made it harder for it to occur. Funny story.

With the previous maps being Garden Of Joy and Eyrie Of Crows, and maps like Gideon still existing, my guess is this was intentional.
2 -
Imagine if the game map only spawned 10 pallets instead of 25. That would be fine by your estimation apparently.
I guess most people haven't really come to the understanding that DBD can only be a fair game if the killer is Blight/Nurse on most maps.
0 -
It isn’t game breaking. Killers can still chase and down survivors and survivors can still be hooked.
The kille switch is only used for game breaking issues such as crashes or spots where survivors can’t be downed or hooked. Too many pallet spawns doesn’t fit that criteria It’s really that simple
8 -
Yes that wouldn’t be kill switch worthy. Annoying for sure but nothing gamebreaking
2 -
There is no way "The Game" could be a fair map to any survivors if there were only 10 pallets. Some areas of the new map are spawning three pallets closer together than 10m. That type of double pallet spawn was removed from most maps years ago.
Long story short things that benefit killers get kill switched/patched within hours. Things that benefit survivors usually stick around for weeks, months and in some cases years.
3 -
Then they would tell you it was.
If they apparently have the gall to make and keep these busted maps, then I don't know why you think they'd lie about another one.
3 -
Tell that to red forest and RPD. Both kill switched due to survivors spots where you couldn’t kill them
10 -
sssshhh that doesn’t fit the narrative of BHVR being survivor sided. Stop that please.
11 -
Exactly, it's functional for survivors that why
1 -
Hey remember when Wake Up! would crash the game of the killer and it was killswitched with in literal hours after the bug was first reported to BHVR?
Just drop the narrative babes it's not a good look
15 -
Imaging defense survivors that hard
2 -
No because the map still function without being game breaking regardless if it has 10 or 30 pallets
”Game breaking” as the name implies is when the game is broken such as when a survivor can’t be hooked so the game can’t progress or when the map causes a game crash
It’s pretty simple tbh
7 -
The Game is different because it has like 5 window vaults of which only 3 are useful, if it didnt have pallets Survivors would have absolutely nothing, if they were to reduce pallets they would have to add jungle gyms. The Game is a bad map with awful gameplay but it has a reason for it to be that way and is lack of window vaults and main building and no, they cant delete it or change it substantially, it came with a license so it has to stay.

Also for all the people saying the kill switch is survivor sided remember that Oni was spawning 3x blood for like a month
He never got kill switched because the bug wasn’t Gamebreaking
12 -
Even if you take the kill switch out of the equation, lets not forget that the devs haven't even openly admitted this "bug" in any of the official pages yet, leave alone trying to fix it.
0 -
You know that the moderation team have a direct line of communication to BHVR and therefore a mod communicating official information is the same as BHVR communicating official information?
Also what do you want them to do, release a patch the exact second they find a fix to this one specific bug ignoring every other issue that's currently in the game, including the power of Knight just not working half the time?
6 -
I think a map that's giving auto wins against M1 killers is a pretty big issue. And killers are being sent to this map a lot because the chapter just came out.
0 -
"And killers are being sent to this map a lot because the chapter just came out."
It's been confirmed that this has been reverted and the map will spawn as usual until the issue is fixed.
"I think a map that's giving auto wins against M1 killers is a pretty big issue"
So let's kill switch Mother's Dwelling and The Game while we're at it.
Oh wait, it doesn't literally break the game.
7 -
Blight hug "tech" has been considered a bug around... lord knows how long and he is still there hugging and sliding the walls, but clearly the killswitch is only used to benefit Survivors, now... where did I put my tinfoil hat?.
For a bug to be acknowledge in a the official release patch notes it has to be known before they release, its something they know its not working but decide to go through anyway. They havent acknowledge on the patch notes as "known bugs" the Knight being able to be 15 ms after being stunned or gaining MYC procs and Devour Hope tokens whils standing 1 meter from the hook either.
They were unaware of all those issues before launching the patch.
1 -
Okay thanks for the info.
0 -
Yeah let's pretend Mother's dwelling and the game are as broken as a map spawning pallets 3 feet apart from each other. Nice logic.
2 -
Well The Game as an M1 killer is an instant loss because it spawns 30 God pallets 3 feet apart from each other, which is why people have been complaining about it literally since it's rework in 4.5.0.
6 -
It has to be causing crashes for them to kill switch. There have been bugs on both sides that while players feel they are game breaking the devs don't and don't killswitch whatever it is. Multiple times we've had uncleansable totems on maps that guarantee the killer getting full stacks of Devour Hope and the maps have never been killswitched when that happens.

Blight hug tech is in line to get removed. Most people want it gone from the game as it dramatically changes how effective blight can be in a chase. Blight felt pretty easy to deal with when he came out because nobody knew that hug tech or j flicks were a thing.

I thought the Game was great for Trapper? Or did I misread the situation?
0 -
uhh
0 -
No idea I avoid playing Trapper on principle for the betterment of my own mental health
2 -
My argument is a section of the community has this tinfoil conspiracy theory where BHVR only killswitchs and fixes stuff that benefits Killers while leaving bugs benefitting Survivors on and they are using the new bugged map with a gazillon of pallets as an example.
Im using Blight hug "tech" being left for more than a year with no killswitch or fix in sight (they said its a bug, they didnt even give a supposed ETA on a fix) is a direct counter argument to that, BHVR does leave bugs that benefit the Killers without killswitching of fixing them for long periods of time.

Pallets are a bit more controllable than points on the map a survivor can run to and guarantee they're not able to be picked up or put on a hook. Pallet gets dropped, simply break it. If they drop the three that are in close proximity, now you can break all of those and they're no longer an issue for the rest of the match. Spending the same amount of time breaking them as you would chasing them around one of these loops with a pallet for the most part. Can even use killers that can break pallets quickly due to their ability or addons.

Lolwut? Against mad sweaty survivors sure. But it doesn't take much to swing a game in the killer's favour. Just a couple of mistakes by survs. Which happens a lot at low/mid mmr. Few extra pallets on a map will only make a difference for the highest mmr players. Idk why exeryone thinks the game balance should be dictated by the top 5% of players. Because if they balanced for high mmr swfs then 80% of the player base would get constantly shredded by killer.

I’ve been too busy to be able to log on recently. Along with lower chances to go there, is the map offering also disabled? Or can people intentionally choose to go to that map for the purpose of exploiting the pallet spawns?
0 -
I genuinely need an explanation for this one. For those unaware, it has been acknowledged that the new map is bugged and spawns far more pallets than intended. As in, 3 pallets directly next to each other. Combined with the map's large size, you get 37 pallets. Not hyperbole, it's been counted. 37. How much is that? Gideon spawns around 25.
In response, the devs lowered the pick rate of the map to "normal" levels. Why have it in the map rotation at all? The map is bugged to an extent it's causing balance issues. Why even have it available?
But let's say it's because of what happened with RPD. Despite the map being atrocious, it was new. People wanted to see it, so they complained that it was killswitched. Fine.
But why not, at the very least, killswitch the map offering that guarantees that the killer/survs get sent there unless another map offering conflicts? The odds of getting the map by RNG were lowered but there's still the option to send everyone there with the intent to exploit the massive pallet count. Why?
I-I just don't get it.
0 -
Can I ask why? I don’t mean to sound rude but doesn’t leaving an item that can 100% guarantee a map kinda defeat the purpose of lowering the odds of going to that map?
1 -
Because its not game breaking
something thats game breaking would be on the lines of holding the game hostage (such as a spot that cant be accessed to Killers but can for Survivors) or doing something that can crash the game. Your example with RPD back when Resident Evil first got added was game breaking, since old gen consoles were regularly crashing and having major performance issues on the map. This here is more along the lines of Oni spawning 3x more Blood Orbs. Is it an issue that needs to be fixed? Yes. Is it urgent? No.
Lets just take this as a step back, and remember that this is how the average map used to be like back in the "good ol' days".
0 -
Yeah, I also distinctly remember those days having insta saw, Omega Blink, original Ruin, and hostage basements.
If the criteria of gamebreaking something that creates a hostage scenario or crash, then why was Object killswitched when it gave wallhacks?
0 -
Yeah I don't really understand that reasoning. If there was a bug where pig or wraith or someone was able to mori people without hooking them "like in the old days," I'm pretty sure they would still get killswitched until it was fixed.
This is just an issue of them refusing to killswitch the map because it's brand new, while it was not ready for release.

Yes if it's seal swf team. Then nurse and blight are fair but agains't any other team they're unfair. Agains't soloQ it is usually easy to win even in eyric of crow with any killer. I don't personally have problem as I win 80-90% of my killer matches and that is enough for me and in bad games I still usually can get 2K. When I play survivor however I lose 70-80% of time even if Im tunneled/loop killer 5 gens my team finds a way to lose somehow. Most survivors just are bad so if game is balanced that eveey killer is able to beat good sfw. Kill rate will go up to 90% and that is not fair game. 60% of kill rate which the game now has is good healthy number.
0 -
Is there a chance we could get an answer to that? As has been pointed out, it makes the "fix" irrelevant and opens it up for SWF's in particular to abuse.
0 -
Because the killswitch has nothing to do with balance and never did. It's for stuff like maps that straight up make people crash or maps with stuff like uncleansable/unsnuffable totem spots as far as maps are concerned.
Like come on if you just look at the history of when the killswitch has been used this should be fairly obvious.
1 -
Noted.
The question I have is this. Can the dev kill switch the map offering while the map is still in rotation?
0 -
The killswitch won't be used on the map or the offering unless it actively makes the game unplayable, the map is busted but it isn't causing the game to crash or anything
that being said, ######### map offerings in general, especially when used for the new map
0 -
Fun, I remember a bug where Wake Up would boost all actions by 15% (yes, even gen repair speed and vaulting). But that didnt get fixed for almost 2 weeks. Just drop the narrative baby it's not a good look!
(Funny how I have a counter on exactly 1 of the 123 survivor perks in the game, that just shows how dumb your statement is)
0 -
I remember when Oni would get double the blood orbs than he should and that didn't get fixed for half a year if not longer but keep going babes x
