CoconutRTS' take on the Knight
I agree with his take on the Knight overall. While the Knight is not going to be one of the strongest Killers he's not the weakest either. There is potential there with using the Guards to multi task as well as using then to chase and he's fun to play.
If you're interested in looking at Knight gameplay I'd recommend taking a look .

Isn't he the guy who just stands like a sentry gun on an elevation and snipes everyone? Would like to see him do that against an actual team with eyes and maybe even fingers.

His Huntress mechanics are legit. But he's not sweating in pubs for no reason, because honestly what's the point? I run into him and Ralph fairly regularly.

The knight is definately not the strongest killers. He is easy to learn but you have to really know what you are doing to play him well and consistently win matches. I think the guards are mainly built for camping, and its not really fun to run or play against.

That is Maxx. But he's chill and mostly plays for fun.

If there is a guy who snipes hatchets well, I'm interested by watching his technique. It's always nice to find out a new curve that I didn't notice before.

Lmao at all the people being salty at Coconut because he has a different opinion on the Knight than them. That's just hilarious.

I'm surprised at how people are suggesting he smurfs. From watching his cross map shots I'm halfway convinced he was actually sent by SkyNet from the future to hunt down John Connor and that explains how good he is. He's very skilled.

I've played against Coconut multiple times, I'm not saying he's going to 4k you at 5 gens with 360 cross-maps only, but he would spank the majority of people doubting him guaranteed easy money
He has 55,000 kills, smurf or not (I need to see evidence that he's a part of the list that does it) he knows the game

I just don't see how people can see a killer who can do stuff like this, and then they turn around and call him weak and unviable.
Or, laughably, calling him the worst killer or one of the worst killers in the game.
The worst killer in the game can effortlessly down people at some of the safest loops in DBD without even kicking the pallet? OK. Whatever you say.

How can he compare Starcraft..to placing guards?...This saddens me.

The thing with Knight is that he is a very good camper and tunneler while shutting down loops. From a surv perspective, there is no real interaction, from a killer perspective, his power outside chase doesnt do much, even though most of the design makes it seem like it should.
So basically what you have is a patrol mechanic, which really isnt that good. Jailer, which is the least useful one of all(Carnifex and Assassin both have the ability to either injure a survivor or keep them busy). And a situation where its better to just spam m2 quickly than it is to set any path at all.
That's basically a huge part of the Knight not being usable, and a tiny part thats really boring to play as and against.

Honestly just from the thumbnail alone, I have never been so happy a killer could be bought with shards. I hadn't bought anything in the game or shrine with shards for ages. So when knight released I didn't have to spend any real money.
Best thing I've ever done. Thank god there is even an option to get him through the in-game currency than just real money like licensed killers. If I had to waste some of my actual money on him I would have been demanding a refund. Not to mention saying people HAD to pay for him with real money would have been the biggest slap in the face ever.
Like there's been terrible licensed killers come out where you had no choice but to buy them, "cough sadako cough* but knight just takes the cake this time on bad killer releases.

Coconuts is very smart. He also propped up Sadako, who everyone was sure sucked but has among the highest kill rates. Knight has some potential, but imo has other problems.

I would have used shards, but I am straight up hoarding them now that we know all original characters' cosmetics will be given shard costs, and cosmetics are far less economical than DLC chapter costs.
But yeah, Knight is super underwhelming. Might be #1 on my list of chapters that would have been better off spent on general game health.

Knight is so boring to play against. It's like playing vs artist.

He has thousands of hours on Huntress, always uses the same cosmetic and if he plays survivor he's always Luigi Dwight and uses some niche perks.
After I watched some of his footage I was impressed how many angles there are.

this killer isn't bad like myers, pig or trapper, but surely he isn't strong as people claim... let just say that's a toned down artist:
1 like her he can use his power to scout parts of the map without much efforts (but unlike her he's more limited due to his power's range)
2 like her he can zone survivors (but it's less effective because survivors can see your orb, not to mention that you'll stay idle once you are using your power, while the artist doesn't have that restriction)
3 like her he's heavily countered by simply pressing w shift (see point 2 regarding mobility)
4 bugs make this killer a pain to use properly
5 for some reason his autoaim will make you miss normal hits on survivors (happened more than once, both as killer and survivor pov, that i see the knight's blade passing through without doing damage or even going toward a wall/tree without reason)

I am going to be honest. I for one do think that the Knight is one of the weaker killers, probably C tier, or low B tier at the highest. And I would argue that the survivors Coconut went against in the video here weren't the absolute best, though they surely weren't bad either. But I could definitely point out some noticeable mistakes made by survivors in that video.
But that's no reason for me to get salty because Coconut has a different opinion than I have. Or to accuse him of lowering his mmr purposefully.

Ok I watched the full video, he does bring up some interesting points rewarding time optimization with the knight, but holy hell man was playing against people who could have gotten beaten by trapless trapper, like that down at shack in the first map had no right to exist, any decent survivors will at worst get the hit from the guard and use the speedboost to make distance, other plays were questionable at best.
And you know what, even tho he id playing against players that are clearly not good, he is still right, if somehow even the 5% best players manage to die to a meme killer like sadako, no killer is unviable, legit I could play trapless trapper and people will somehow llet me 4k.

This is a ridiculous oversimplification of Coco's skill as Huntress and his game competency. If someone with as many hours as Coconut takes a deep dive into the mechanics of the Knight and doesn't find his power to be redemptive, there's definitely issues.

Down at the shack? The one I am talking about is the "The Game" match. Not the original video here, the twitch link.
Where I nail the TTV with 3x knights in a row, including two perfect predictions, straight through all the god pallets, and he was raging. He is the survivor. I was the killer, and was confused how people think a killer who can down people at "The Game" god pallets with the killer power is bad.
I played one match tonight, and got downs all over the safest springwood loops without breaking the pallets. Beat a 4 man SWF with 8k+ hours
Shack? Shut down.
House of pain? Shut down.
Even the main school building? Shut down. Put a guard at the top of the stairwell and ran through the bottom. Then double backed to cut them off.
This is a killer if played well you can get some of the easiest downs in your life against good loopers. It is not that time efficient, but that is resolved pretty easily through camping, tunneling, and NWO. He can hold a lot of doors in a 3v1 pretty well so even if it takes you 5 gens to tunnel someone to death it's still a decent situation.
Super low effort killer to pretty good reward.
