So pinhead can hold the game hostage indefinitely by standing on the box
What the title say...

he can't

He would need Hex: Ruin to do this, and even then you could probably out progress it. So long as you're smart and understand how the chains spawn you can work on any objective that retains progress (healing, generators, chests) through a chain hunt.
8 -
Dodge 3 chains, work on gen for a bit. Repeat.
7 -
Survivors can still work on gens but VERY slowly.
5 -
It would make the game go slow and tedious but you can still do gens in a chain hunt. You want to clear chain hunt ASAP because it's a huge problem when the killer is pressuring and chasing you but if he's just guarding the box, he's doing neither.
3 -
He is just afk... just standing on the box you cannot cleanse his ruin and cannot finish gens.. even I'd you managed then the game would take an hour and would be the most boring game in rhe world...

One survivor can just tank the chains for another on a gen
7 -
^ This. So it’s false, he is not holding the game hostage.
4 -
Whatever, enjoy being in a game like that.. in my opinion It's an exploit and should not happen..bit you guys seems fine with it..
I bet 100$ that every game I do that as pinhead will end up in 4 dc... 10 games in a row
2 -
If he's just standing on the box, why cant you cleanse his ruin?
3 -
You made a post saying that the game could be held indefinitely. People posted to prove that it doesn't hold the game indefinitely.
No one has made a statement that they enjoy this being possible.
10 -
That and we're also stating that this isn't a reportable offense because the game can progress by survivors working on the gens and just dodging the chains every so often.
I don't think anyone here LIKES it but by the letter of the rules, it's not taking the game hostage (and it shouldn't take a hour to do, you find your fellow survivors and have multiple people just hammer the same gen. Rinse and repeat. It'll take a little longer than usual but nowhere near "hostage taking" levels).
3 -
He not holding it hostage my guy but he also not trying complete the objective. So i understand your issue with it
1 -
Ok so a coornated group can deal with it, but random solo queue is not that simple.. we had 1 guy dc after 2 min and by myself it was impossible ti cleanse the ruin and do any gens.. but yes if you are in a team I would be another story... but still they should make some changes so this is not happening
0 -
Saying this isn't a reportable offense is a lie, because being afk is and if you just stand on the box you are afk so there..
2 -
You don't need to be coordinated. If you understand that the killer is on the box and understand how his power works, then you can figure out how to play against a never ending chain hunt when the killer is doing nothing else.
1 -
How come you speak for everybody 🤣🤣🤣
And you are wrong afk is a reportable offense
1 -
Good luck with that if you ever come up against that. I orefer to dc and report, imo thats is the way to go against a toxic afk killer.. I won't waste my time on that trying to do gens solo in a infinite chain hunt
0 -
For what it's worth, going AFK is indeed a reportable offense.
2 -
Don't forget to stay in the game long enough to obtain the mandatory video evidence for your report.
3 -
How about we just eliminate troll tactics like this? How are people unironically saying "well acktually you can play around it"? There's literally no reason to do this other than to grief the other side. The game is not worse if the box teleports away like a PH cage after 3 or 4 seconds of killer proximity.
6 -
This is just the same issue that keeps popping up that it isn't explained how the chains work
Chains spawn in sets of 3, if you dodge 3 chains you have a bit of time before the next one spawns. You will outperform ruin his way especially with multiple survivors
They really need to make that a tooltip or something
4 -
People are pointing out you can play around it, because it means it can't indefinitely hold the game hostage which is the claim being made.
3 -
I feel like it's a matter of semantics though. Is it literally holding the game hostage? No. Is it intended gameplay? Of course not. And there's no reason to do it other than griefing and forcing players to d/c or give up out of frustration.
2 -
Then report them and move on. I have no idea why you're being so weirdly aggressive in this thread to people
4 -
My assumption based on their post is the killer wasn't afk, they just weren't moving from that spot (as in they were still playing and looking around, they just stood still. Whether that's still "technically" AFK or not I don't know but my assumption is no). I could be wrong but that was my reading of the post.

Sounds interesting. You’d probably want to run the addon that lets you see the box’s aura and then hook a survivor near the box so there’s only three survivors on gens.
Also run the engineer addon so you can stand on the box and hit people going for the unhook, or trying to do nearby gens. Maybe also run insidious because you’ll be standing still?
of course ruin lol

You can't ban for this because, as others have said, it's not holding the game hostage. If you ban for this can you ban memeing killers like basement chest buba, and stealing item builds with franklin's and hoarders? What about bell spamming wraith? Or any of the various 'silly builds' you can do. Or how about a killer going afk in the corner and giving up? Or a survivor killing themselves/dcing on first hook?
Am I saying this is fun or to be celebrated? No, it's annoying but you can't ban for "not playing as intended" without hard defining every scenario. It's why nothing is banned except body blocking.
2 -
It's not holding the game hostage, but it's refusing to participate in normal gameplay, imo. Technically giving up the game by afking or playing chest protector would be the same, but no sane support ppl would punish that. But a killer dragging games out by forcing and endless chain hunt via afking on the box; I wouldn't be surprised if that gets punished eventually if used excessively.
0 -
Actually that's wrong.
0 -
Still not sure why a player would want to play in such a way. Sounds super boring.
1 -
Being AFK is bannable. You need to be reported multiple times for that reason to be banned, but it's totally bannable.
Basement chest bubba somewhat falls under the same category but meh, it's not as annoying so there are way lower possibilities of survivors reporting you for that.
Stealing items build are a memey build, but you're not afk while using that build, slightly annoying yes, not bannable.
DCing already comes with a temporary ban.
Giving up should be treated very similarly to being AFK: do you give up once every 2 weeks? Eh, you're fine. Do you give up every other game? Maybe you shouldn't be playing DBD
0 -
Name one player who has ever been banned for being AFK.
0 -
I couldn't name one player who was banned for blatantly cheating
Doesn't mean they are not being banned
Being AFK and not participating in normal gameplay is listed as a bannable offense, so it should be safe to assume that people will be banned if they are reported enough times
3 -
It’s bannable but afk players don’t get banned. Nobody cares about reporting them, and even if you do report them, maybe they were opening the door or something.
Cheaters do get banned.
0 -
If they really would ban for that then many, many, many survivor would already have been banned when they try to outstealth each other in a 2 remaining scenario and completely gave up on progressing the trial.
0 -
Where does using insidious start and end before it's considered being afk?
1 -
Well, if nobody reports them of course they don't get banned, but it would be the same thing with cheaters, DBD is not really a "smart" game when it comes to banning people since they don't have a strong way of checking what happens during matches
That's bannable as well, yes, if you find yourself in that position, start recording and report the survivors that do this.
The main issue with people being AFK is players not reporting it.
I'm pretty sure that if someone tried to pull the Pinhead stunt OP described survivors would be more inclined to report that behaviour rather than reporting a "friendly" basement Bubba.
But don't listen to my words, ask a mod!
@Rizzo is being AFK bannable? Should we report for it?

Isn't the match timelimit about an hour now?
1 -
Exactly, that was the whole point to have something done about this as its clearly trolling and not intended... like just have the box reset if the killer within 1 meter for 30 seconds or something like that
0 -
Neato!
Here's a Holly getting a treat to show thanks
2 -
As far as I know cleansing takes 14 seconds and in that time chains will spawn and interrupt you.
Claudettes used to be able to blend with the map in a way it was almost impossible to see them, it wasnt a strong tactic because they were doing absolutely nothing and the match was a 3vs1 from the start but it was boring for the Killer to find that ultrainmersed Urban Evading Claudette with a purple mist offering who could prolong the game for an hour, it wasnt holding hostage either because you could play around too, you could always find and kill her but it was an absurd gameplay feature, it had to go.
Something having counterplay and being weak doesnt mean it should be in the game if its just a boring hassle as big as that was, Pinhead sitting on the box spamming chain hunts to prolong a game for as much as he cans while doing absolutely nothing is absurd too, it should go.

To be annoying. Remember AFK Pig? This is just the next best thing. Don't try to win, just waste everyone's time.
0 -
Being AFK is reportable? Since when?
Also, how does one determine AFK versus Insidious/Camping in terms of reporting another player? Is there a time frame?
0 -
Where did I say this should be in the game?
