DBD locked
I have not been able to play DBD due to it being locked after I logged in last weekend I am on essential the game was a free monthly and its now on extra? I have two choices either pay another £40 to upgrade or buy a 6yr old game for £25? No way. Another game I was playing man of Medan is on premium that was laughable. I recently bought 4200 cells just as the knight was due out and not played DBD since then. I have paid for every DLC apart from the base game it seems like I will just have to wait till they drop the price but this is not good.

Wait so... You were playing the game while it was free, and you were buying stuff in game at this time?
And now the game is higher in price or something? I don't get it.

I added the game to my library when it was free on PS monthly many years ago and only started playing it last year I started buying the DLC after a month or so and moving on to a new killer the game is now on PS extra I am on PS essential that means me paying another 40 quid to play it again or I can buy the game currently at 25 quid.
No I am not banned just locked out on the monthly games I have added over the years.
They have all moved up to another tier and this is not fair having to fork out more cash.

So what has happened, the game was free to play under the initial PlayStation Plus. PlayStation Plus has now divided games into "Tiers" for different amounts (Compare to basic Hulu / Hulu without ads being different prices) and DBD has since been moved to a higher tier, possibly based on popularity, and now user would have to upgrade his plan to continue playing.
But I'd have to stress the fact that, if you liked the game, purchase it before you buy DLC for it. The PS+ is essentially there to try out games, more like a rental, as they add and delete games all the time.

Do you have your playstation set as your primary on your account? If you don't then it will lock like this also , I'm a PC player but I play on PlayStation occasionally and that's happened to me before, if you got it for free from Sony in the past it will always be there if you keep it in your library

If you got the game for free years ago through the ps+ monthly free games it should still be in your library. Go to your library and see if you can download it from there?
Free monthly games are separate from the ps+ essential/extra/premium game catalogues that require the specific tiers to play. If it's no longer in your library contact Playstation support since they would be the ones that removed the game you got free as a monthly game instead of part of the game catalogue in a subscription tier.

i dont know if it still happens. But I tried to buy a singleplayer game that I had at one point had as a PS+ game and when I tried to purchase it, I couldn't. The PS store refused to let me. I contacted customer service and they told me they're was nothing I could do except resub and play.

This might be better served on the playstation forumn since its a playstation issue not a DBD issue

I already knew that I had to upgrade PS Plus or buy the game from the store. I have the game on disc but my console doesn't read certain discs and this is one of them. This is all about money as usual. How can they say it will always be free as long as your a member of PS and then they move it up. Extra has nothing for me all the games are rubbish even when they were all on Now I never played any of them one dollar games.

Yes it is I tried restoring licences and then deactivating then activating and restoring and so on. Its always been in the library but without the padlock. I think it may be my time to return to the PC these consoles give me to many problems. Thank you for your reply.

You still own the game if you are a regular subscription of ps+ you sometimes have to renew license in settings especially when game sharing to another console
It will not require a subscription upgrade to get your game otherwise people who got the ps+ games around August would have had to upgrade to extra or premium because they got a game that was put on those upgrade tiers as a monthly free game the same month they were put into the upgraded tiers

I been trying all week they say come back later between 10:30 and 19:00 when its like 2pm in the afternoon. Back so soon, very bad customer service. Your reply gives me confidence that I may play this weekend if I can get through to an agent.

Gonna give u a bad news there is no crossplay between playstation and pc so all the money u have to spend again worth those 25 dollars to buy the game.

I am bringing this post back from the dead in case it happens to somebody else I am still padlocked on DBD I have not had the opportunity to play the knight and the current event I have liaised with support since the end of November almost every day, they are useless it was sent to the specialist team whoever they are and they told me to go to the webstore and download from purchased?
They had been informed from customer support prior this was a psplus problem and give me that response. I then sent images they requested of the webstore psplus category, now I was told they were working on a resolution?
The last email I got from them was telling me to check my console because the images I sent are of the webstore? Unbelievable response I waited a week for that, I use the console on a daily basis after that reply I have almost given up.
It takes an hour to chat with an agent I get the impression they see your name and just keep you waiting because they are clueless to this problem. I wanted to buy the game in the recent sale, the advisor said there was no need as you will be back on in no time.
I really looked forward to the new killer and the xmas event its nearly a month and I am at the point now where I do not care its only a game and have moved on, I will not make contact again to them as they all need to be retrained, if this was any other company it would go under, they know the mugs, me included will continue to buy digital content.
I enjoyed the game since I been playing the last 12 months and was at 98% on the achievements not that I care for them hitting 1,500 Hours 60% playtime. Its back on sale £12.49 this time from £9.99 last month very cheeky in these times we live in ATM.

BHVR put their game on PS+ which would allow you to claim it forever, it is then on Sony to honour this, you should be contacting Sony about the issue as there is nothing BHVR can do. From the sounds of it, someone else had claimed it and had your Playstation set as primary and has now removed it as I've never heard of anyone losing access to PS+ games they'd claimed years ago etc.
If you love the game i don't see what the issue of spending £10 on it.

This sucks, but - unless I'm mistaken - it has nothing to do with DbD and more Sony's usual shenanigans. You'll have to take it up with them.

I would try to take it up with BHVR as well if you can. Odds are they'll tell you to pound sand, but they might take the high road and send you a code for the game. It might be worth a shot.

The only thing that would cause your game to get a lock icon is if you let your ps+ subscription expire. You MUST have an active subscription to play ANY online game. It has nothing to do with the new tier system. If you have an ACTIVE ps+ sub and are srill having problems, sign out on your console then log back in.
If you went too long without an ACTIVE subscription, then you will lose your back catalog of free monthly games. I think they give you up to 3 months inactive before that happens, but don't quote me.

I see this as the most likely option, it's very possible they stopped a lot of subs when they changed over to the new system of tiers and cancelled yours after you didn't respond to an email or something, as services in the EU are from what I recall required to cancel subs after non-communication for a while I think.
