Aura reading perks ruins this game
It doesn't matter if killers or survivors use it, it's too convenient and easy to use. There are too many aura reading perks available. It makes the game way too easy and there are survivor bullies ready to grief other survivors with it by bringing the killer to them or other nauseating acts.
This isn't a horror game anymore when everyone sees everyone and everything. You might as well call this game Dead by Wallhacks.

when I play survivor I run distortion every time for that reason

yes same here although there is no stopping survivors from griefing you and with the amount of aura perks killer has they can deplete your tokens quite easily.
With killers it's easier to block their auras by using either addons or perks like third seal but sure only that is temporary.

Huh first time I've heard this, at least in a long time
2 -
"Nowhere to Hide" really isn't lying.
6 -
If there wouldn´t be kindred in solo queue I would never touch this game again

"Info perks" as a category is usually the weakest if you ask me. The other major categories — gen perks, healing perks, chase perks, slowdown perks, snowball perks, second chance perks—they're all simply just better 99% of the time.
3 -
You're complaining about killers -not- using 4 slowdown perks?
18 -
No I think aura reading perks are completely fine, on both sides. Especially when it comes to killer, some of the aura perks are viable alternates to slowdown perks. And I do not think any of them need to be nerfed or changed. Slowdown perks, at least a few of them, are more annoying to go against in my opinion.

Aura perks: A massive segment of the survivor AND killer perk selection.
Also, completely replaced by voice comms, which give all survivors up-to-the-minute info on where people are, what they're doing, where the killer is, what they're doing/done, and so forth.
Removing or massively nerfing aura perks would just make SWF even MORE powerful, and solo queue even weaker.

Info perks help you locate survivors, but downing them and stalling generators are still up the killer's skill. I think aura perks are completely fine as they are.
2 -
I rather have a killer use Aura Perk then beeing a full Slowdown andy.
3 -
I don't see it. Aura perks are fine.
3 -
BBQ is fine, Nowhere to hide is overpowered in his current form. It should be a fixed radius around the kicked gen and not around the moving killer.

Sounds like a terrible teammate problem, not a perk problem.
2 -
This is, at least, a new category I’ve seen a complaint in. 🤷♂️

There are 24 perks which allow the Killer to see your aura (This was 8 when Distortion came out), and 8 perks which allow the Survivor to see the Killer (3 of which came out in the past 6 months).
This doesn't include all the add-ons Killers have, and the add-on on the Key for survivors. It has been a bit aura-read heavy this year, but not by too much.
2 -
Not all of them (BBQ is fine on ALL killers), but lethal, nowhere to hide and scourge:flood are highly problematic on certain killers.
But to be honest, this is more an issue with certain killer designs and abilities, rather than the aura-reading from detection perks.

Your Saviour has Arrived, meet Distortion!

The one aura users fear most!

I’m all for getting rid of aura reading perks, items, and add-ons. Maybe even the killer’s red stain, too.

I play a lot of SoloQ and I live on Bond.
This game just has too many perks overall, not just aura perks. We're already at 219 and they just keep adding them by the handful.
2 -
Personally I would love if MORE items allowed the survivor to see the killer.

I honestly just wish there was a gamemode with no perks whatsoever.
2 -
My only issue is with Lethal Pursuer. Seems counter to the intent of the game to have a perk that shows you the location of your targets for a while at the start of the match. It's understandable that after it expires the killer has to three-perk the rest of the match, but the damage is already done. A lot of people quit if they're found/downed/hooked a few seconds into a trial. No investment in anything yet, one hook state already down, no reason to stay.
It's like a mini version of Legion.

I mean, then that's the person's fault for not wanting to play... I've literally appeared at the killer's side, it's unfair? Yeah, can be but I don't let that stop me.
2 -
agreed but screams seem fair brief visual cues of where their scream from when playing doctor seems fine
0 -
I would play that.

No way. Info perks are some of the strongest. There's simply no way to express all of the benefits from knowing where your opponents are and what they're doing, or seeing where your teammates are and what they're doing which helps you decide what you need to be doing. Info is what makes a SWF strong. The fact that people refuse to see the benefit of information perks because they need crutch perks in other areas is why they have such a miserable time in solo queue.

Having constant communication of what everyone including the killer is doing 24/7 is exponentially more information than "see nearby allies" or "reveal faraway people for 4 seconds during this specific scenario" or "see regressing generators." If anything, SWF makes info perks even worse because it renders most to all survivor info perks basically obsolete. Why run stuff like Empathy, Aftercare, Bond, Fogwise, Alert, Visionary, etc. when you can call up your mates and have a go on Discord and get all those perks plus more without running any of them? That information is much stronger and much more valuable than the incredibly basic and limited information that most info perks give.
Not to mention, SWF also gives you an ability that no info perks can give you, an ability that is stronger than all the information in the world: The ability to communicate and coordinate. That alone makes it stronger than pretty much anything else survivors have in this game. If the gap between not having Kindred and having Kindred is oceans wide, then the gap between equipping Kindred vs. having Kindred basekit thanks to comms while also being able to actively plot a course of action with your team is the distance between Earth and bloody Mars.
Info perks absolutely pale in comparison to what SWF brings you. Don't kid yourself.

Aura perks are fine imo, they're a perk that isn't from one of the perk categories people tend to dislike.
And on the "horror game" part, horror is not a theme resilient to repeat exposure. DBD is a game people play for hundreds if not thousands of hours, unlike a ~2 hour horror movie or a singleplayer horror game. It was inevitably going to be a game that is horror themed at most once you graduate from "New Player" status.

So what you're trying to tell me is a huntress using aura reading perks is more problematic than a nurse with 4 slow downs?
I'm sorry but I'm so happy the majority of people have 0 power over this games balance changes.
1 -
godlike nurse with 4 aura reading perks is stronger then godlike nurse with 4 slowdowns.
It all depends what kind of killer you play against. For any doctor, aura reading perks are least useful stuff compared to any other category. For nurse or huntress (on at least semi-open map) - well it's the other way around.
But I will agree, that most of the time slowdown perks are much stronger then info perks
