I don't understand Dredge's nightfall
Why can I, as a survivor, see other survivors in a white aura and seeing the killer in white aura? Why does Nightfall not turn off aura perks in general? Also, why is Dredge's movement so loud in Nightfall?

I think it's only up to 20m they can see you.
Really nightfall is there for you to actually start using his power in chase. It's super strong if the locker you go to isn't locked, shutting down almost every loop in the game that has a locker at it if you time the teleport correctly.
I would not worry too much about the stealth part of it although it can come in handy sometimes; it can get you pretty close but not ghostface close. Usually you are teleporting nearby to survivors and they hear you coming out of the locker anyways.
Nightfall is also when you want to down someone and go as physically far away from the hook to the next survivor you can, ideally downing them as well. You can bounce around the different survivors and attempt to keep them from saving at the hook by damaging them miles away. Wallhack perks / addons are crucial for this and on big maps it's one of his biggest strengths

I understand the use of his power but I don't understand why Nightfall is so... not scary? If they removed the white aura and disable all aura perks from survivors during Nightfall then I think we got the scariest killer in our hands.

It's another thing that makes the killer weak, so it's left unchecked. You can lock lockers, destroy the killer's remnant, clearly see and hear him in Nightfall. Heck, what can't you do against this killer?

Because playing some survivors, particularly those with darker cosmetics, would suddenly become a major disadvantage if you face a Dredge because your teammates couldn't see you, and the last thing solo queue needs is yet another killer where they're so massively disadvantaged and SWF aren't one bit.
Plus, it kinda helps with the eye strain and motion sickness. I still need painkillers on my desk just in case the killer is ever a Dredge, but it's more tolerable with multiple survivors on screen than with nobody but my character there.

It's funny because people complain that BHVR handheld survivors with knight's design with making sure there was built in counters but they did it with dredge first and it's arguably to a worse degree.
Every single aspect of dredge is held back in some way, if we're talking specifically nightfall there are ways to get the effect you're looking for but they're suboptimal for dredge overall. People use third seal for total darkness but personally I'm against it cuz perk slots are valuable and hexes never last long. Instead use tilling blade and it'll basically last the entire duration of nightfall then you get sloppy and third seal all in one.
There's also the microphone to make lockers slam open by themselves, there isn't really a point to that though other than maybe scaring survivors which is pretty funny. At best maybe run it with merciless storm to make survivors jump and mess up the skills checks although that's already a massive reach.

All these aspects are in place because they tested nightfall without these and deemed it unplayable.
