Killers really are mad about this 0.4 sec flashlight change huh?

I’ve been playing this game since June. I have nearly 1100 hours. In this past week I’ve had more killers bring franklins and cut coins than I have the entire time I’ve played this game. No exaggeration.

Not only do they want to take your item they don’t want you finding items either. Just saw another thread with people mad that franklins didn’t make the item totally disappear. 🤣🤣🤣

Is the flashlight change really hurting y’all that bad? I mean damn.

im not a flashlight saver so I don’t care, I just think it’s funny. 🤣 Not to mention all the killers now running franklins and lightborn

My post is in jest but I’m actually curious if the flashlight change has anything to do with the uptick in the franklins and cut coins Im seeing. I’d like the killers to weigh in if they feel so inclined. If not, all good.

I'm more of a killer main, but I haven't changed my pick rate of franklins / lightborn or using a cut coin more often (never using it, always running BP offerings). If anything, I'm seeing more survivors attempting to blind but failing (miserably). I'll still switch in lightborn with 2+ flashlights if I want to have a chill game, but that was the same before the FL changes.

I'm still used to the old timing so I can't tell if it's actually affecting me. Not sure I agree with the change though, I liked the skill curve of beamer saves.

I think this buff gave some Survs major confidence boosts thinking they’re all professional blinders now and they’re still not. I’ve had a few matches now where I’m being picked up and survs run up to flashlight save and they point at the killers back and side. Lmao I just wanna tell them “you know it doesn’t work like that right?” 🤣🤣🤣

I always run lightborn (for as long as I’ve been playing killer), I find it less stressful to not have to worry about being blinded in general…be it a flashlight…multiple flashlights…firecrackers…flash bangs…you name it, I’d just rather not deal with it.

On the flip side, you’d be surprised how many survivors give up and stop playing and/or suicide on first hook when they realize they can’t flashlight in a match. I don’t like Franklin’s tho and anytime I’ve ever experimented w it, it seemed like a waste of a slot.

When I play survivor..I can’t flashlight to save my life (or yours…) so…they can keep making all the changes they want lol

I made this tweet "You receive: Removal of double lockers flashlight save (absurdly easy to counter). We receive: More consistent flashlight saves in general." and a bunch of killer mains were salty in my replies lmao

  • versacefeng

Flashlight saves were already consistent to begin with.

I imagine a bunch of them were just pointing out that double locker flashlight saves were, in fact, impossible to counter, lol.

As for the consistency of flashlight saves, they only got more consistent in timing, nothing else. They're still absurdly easy to avoid in the vast majority of scenarios, this change only made picking up the mechanic easier for new players, it's nothing to be mad at.

Yeah - All those crazy flashlight topics on the front page (aside from yours) are really clogging up space.

How can killers even be so mad?!

I play a lot of killer even though I am technically a survivor main by hours played... and I don't care.

It makes me laugh when I see people 6 second switch to flashlights as if I care lol. As flashlight users are so often a killers best friend as they will take stupid risks and waste time chasing you around hoping to get free saves instead of actually doing something useful.

As a solo survivor if I enter a lobby that appears to be a SWF with all flashlights I will dodge that lobby as they are almost always absolutely useless and we lose the match with the only gen done being the one I inevitably will do before they are all dead.

No idea how I thought this topic was about killers being mad about the 0.4s flashlight change.

For sure. Like 8/10 save attempts I see fail, and I have not noticed much change recently. The buffer helps marginally, but you still have to get into position, which is where the failure occurs for most people.

And the killer counterplay hasn't changed much, if at all.

As for the bump in Franklin's usage, I feel like that started a while back, before the flashlight changes were even announced. I think it had a lot to do with more people talking about how OP medkits are.

Well I think the issue is how inconsistent the defense against flashlights are if the Killer dosnt have Franklin's or Lightborn. I have been blinded from behind a wall of Killer shack or from 180° angle before.

Survivors would have to time the blind right during a pickup to get a blind but now they can do it mid pickup and still get it

This buff definitely helps new players get saves but for those who could do the timing right it made it a never miss blind and that's what got players upset.

Are they really mad, though? I have been the victim of successful flashlight saves since the rework a staggering 3 times, maybe 4. Getting flashlight saved is still mostly an issue of comitting to an unsave pickup or some very questionable angles ... and sometimes you honestly get outplayed by a sneaky survivor who saw the down of their teammate comming, but its not a big deal in my games.

Still, I often pick Franklin as one of my perks, as with the cheap items you are hardly pressed to not see lobbies with 3 items, often 4. Thats not in itself a problem, but survivors are often goblins for their precious items, especially their beamers, and will go to great length and risky plays, to recover them. Its this missplays and anger from the survivors side that is the biggest value of Franklins imho.

I have slapped an event beamer out of quite some survivors hands and then casually stepped onto the thing and they just stood their, questioning their life choices and pointing at me accusing ;D

On a sidenote: I think that cut coins are counterproductive for killers, just like the veil that seperates survivors. More chests in game mean more survivors opening chests and not doing gens. It might just be a few seconds, and they could also get a medkit that gives them a much needed heal, but in general chests are benefitting the killer just as much as they do the survivors.

I mean I dont blame them, considering how game changing a flashlight save can be youd expect them to require some skill but they was made way to easy now.

When killers like wraith, slinger can get nerfed but something like flashlights get buffed you cant blame them, I dont think it's fair to say "I was able to get infront of you when you was picking up so free save for me" while some killers are left pretty weak/ janky to play and some maps remain pretty unfair for most of the roster.

The buff was over done imo, but I want to push the game towards skill=reward not make stuff easier for people that dont wanna push themselves. Flashlight saves lost their appeal to me, the skillful aspect is what made me enjoy getting them I felt accomplish... I dont get that now.

I love a full lobby of flashlights, slap lightborn on but don't make it obvious you have it so they keep wasting precious time trying to save when it's impossible to succeed and then, when it's 2v1 and that save really matters, just stare...stare long and hard into the soul of the last survivor and see the moment they realised...it was all for nothing MWUAHAHAHAHAHA!

Most killers don't care about flashlights.

Who cares if they want to bring Franklins and Lightborn? I run Franklins on Hag to counter flashlights which can disable her whole power in seconds. Nemesis players might bring Franklins as flashlights counter his zombies. Some people find it fun to have a build where it takes your item(s). The more lobbies item heavy the better. If it doesn't already have a name, I'd call it the Grinch build where I take your gifts this Christmas (It IS December). Which can include the offering to reduce your resources.

Not everything is about the fear of flashlight saves.

To be fair flashlight saves are way too easy now. You dont need any skill for the right timing.

LMFAO!! I’m a self-admitted loot goblin. When I bring an item and it gets knocked out of my hand, I DO question all my life choices. “Is surviving really surviving if I don’t make it out with my item?” 🤣🤣🤣

You ain’t wrong there at all.

  • Akumakaji
    Akumakaji Member Posts: 5,487

Awww, you have my sympathies :) I love you loot goblins, and stepping on your items is nothing personal, but one slight sadistic streak of mine ;D

When I play survivor I mourn every single event toolbox that is lost to the void, never to return.

Not really, if anything it makes games easier for Killers because Survivors with flashlights love to throw the entire game just for a flashlight save...that they fail anyways, so i'm glad they "buffed" them.

I only use the cut coin offering to decrease the chance of finding better medkits or toolboxes, since I run light born since I unlocked it I don't really worry about flashlights.

  • GooseMan
    GooseMan Member Posts: 104

I don't bring more Franklins or Cut coins, but I definitely bring more Lightborn - I used to run it on some killers, now I use it on almost everyone. Not because there's something wrong about flashlights now, but because there's more flashlights.

I’m not mad about it. Matter of fact you’re the only person with a post about it…

I have been hit with some stupid saves that wouldn’t have hit before. But it is what it is. I main blight and shadowborn is basekit for me, so saves are even easier for them.

Idk how other run lightborn 24/7. Waste of perk slot.
