Terrible Perks You Love Anyway?
On killer, I have a massive soft spot for Spirit Fury. It seldom does much, but when it does it's hilarious.
It's also awful, but I have a ton of fun with Dark Devotion (seriously, can't this apply to more survivors?). There are few things scarier than an undetectable Wesker speeding down the halls of Midwich...
On survivor, it's...not terrible, but WoO has never left my bars since I started learning.
People also give it a ton of hate, but Empathy is a surprisingly solid perk.
That all said - I don't think there's a single perk in the game as hilarious to pull off as Power Struggle.

Oppression
I get there are much better slowdown perks. But for some reason, basically every killer I run has Oppression on them. It's just nice to know that if the survivors aren't paying too close attention, there's a chance that I might take three gens down with one single kick...
7 -
...I forgot Oppression. Especially on Doctor - oh man can it be funny to kick a gen and hear 2-3 explosions a second after.
0 -
I mean I would rather run shadow borne only over using another perk ever if I had to make the choice.
1 -
We cant consider dark devotion terrible. Its just to funny on ghostie. Survivors want to reveal the undetectab(stab) WHY IS HE STILL UNDET(stab)

Does We're Gonna Live Forever count?
If not, Mettle of Man. I never try to throw the game to get it, but if the chance comes to me, you better believe I take it.
And Mad Grit. Those legendary moments where the whole team comes flying in for a hook block make it all worth it.

Fogwise. It's so relaxing to work on a gen while keeping track of the killer.
0 -
I would not call Fogwise a terrible perk. Its pretty decent.
5 -
Fogwise is not a terrible perk XD. I run it almost baseline now, it's honestly about as strong as prenerf OoO if you can reliably hit greats.

Dark Devotion. Mad Grit.
Idk. There is just something about these perks that I really enjoy, Dark Devotion is just fun for both sides, and allows for dumb gimmick builds or for big brain TR plays. And Mad Grit is just a perk I enjoy a lot, even against SWFs this perk has gotten me a lot more pressure as killer.
Self-Preservation.
Behold, my favorite perk for Flashlight saves! I really feel like DBD players who just go for Flashlight saves really undervalue this perk since it has created so many opportunities for FSs.

Not sure if Empathic Connection is terrible but I've used the perk almost exclusively in all my builds.

Dark Devotion is like Oppression. The design of the perk is great. The numbers on the perk make it craptacular.
Oppression at 30 seconds? There's a fun, balanced park.
Dark Devotion at a much longer duration, or able to work on anyone? There's a fun, balanced perk.

Autodidact.
I know it sucks and sometimes it actually ends up hurting you by not letting you finish a heal that you could've finished without the negative skill check progress, but I still find it fun to use and the rare games where it actually works, it's amazing.

Auto is not a terrible perk but, like a lot of survivor perks (I have a feeling that as soon as SWFs realize how bloody strong it is in organized play, Potential Energy is going to be meta) you need a team aware of it so they can help feed it.

I used Fogwise a lot when it came out, but in my experience the perk's purpose is self-defeating.
Where it fails:
- Undetectable killers are immune to aura reading, hindering the efficacy of the perk against stealth killers or certain perks/addons (ex: Tinkerer).
- Detectable killers approaching can be tracked by the intensity of the terror radius. The information given by Fogwise may give you a head start, but I don't think it's worth an entire perk slot.
Where it shines:
- Calling the killer's information to your teammates in comms.
- It demolishes oblivious builds and Hex: Plaything is popular right now.
IMO, Fogwise is overrated. Alert is much better overall.

Solo? Sure.
In SWFs? It's basically wallhacks. Which is why I compared it to prenerf OoO.

Forced penance on any non mobility killer though I do use it on twins when I did play them.

For Survivor:
Rookie Spirit - I love running to 'rescue' a dying generator.
For Killer:
Spies From The Shadows - As Scott Jund would say, "HUGE BIRB VALUE".

Judging by it being the most used survivor perk despite 'never working', for most people it would seem to be Dead Hard
0 -
Mad grit will always be the best meme perk to me.
2 -
Dead Hard works perfectly fine. I was also a bit down on it initially, but once you get a feel for the timing it's probably the strongest ex perk, despite the nerf.

I like agitation, wouldn't call it terrible tho, its just not meta.
1 -
Not really terrible, but I do like using Whispers on Killer. Mostly because I have terrible hearing irl so having a little bit of an edge to help me narrow down where a survivor is hiding is always pretty good.
I also like running Mad Grit, mostly because it allows me to punish overly altruistic swfs who try to body block the hook and because they don't expect to go down it more often than not gives me an extra 1-2 downs (which can sometimes evolve into kills). Which I probably wouldn't have otherwise gotten if it wasn't for swf greeding the hook save.

Also it's completely unusable against a killer with Fearmonger.

As a survivor: Autodidact. There is something really fun about having to gain stacks and see your healing improving skillcheck after skillcheck, even if it relies on the terrible RNG.
As a killer:
Mad Grit and Blood Warden are classic.
Dark Devotion is a bit situational and doesn't work on every killer, but hell, it's one of the most fun killer perks in the game.
Dragon's Grip doesn't always work, but when it does, it's funny as hell.

Mad Grit and Spies From The Shadows.

I wouldn't necessarily call Merciless Storm a terrible perk, but I've been running it for the past couple of days and absolutely love it! It can give me almost an entire gen's worth of time and if the team can breeze through it no other perk would give me an advantage over it anyways and at least I know I'm going up against competent players. People vastly overestimate how many players can actually hit those checks consistently.
Spies from the shadows can be surprisingly decent if the survivors go for stealth, but that isn't common enough to switch out something like Corrupt or NWO.

Killer- Whispers
Survivors- Leader
I know that Whispers isn't terrible by any means but not many people run it
Leader has decent bonuses... when I'm not doing the action
0 -
killer- NOED yeah there I said it. ๐ I donโt run it much but itโs nice to have to try to comeback late game.
survivor- flip flop and although this perk can be useless at times it can come up clutch itโs nice to get value from it. The other day the killer left me slugged and I wiggled off and got hatch.

OOO and Blast Mine are two perks i've fallen in love with recently, even if they either do nothing or get me killed
0 -
For killer, Spies From The Shadows. For survivor it's definitely Appraisal.
0 -
dragons grip on mobility killers

Survivor: Clairvoyance, I like having a plan B and it also helps prevent 3 gens.
Killer: Territorial Imperative, It doesn't work on all killers but the killers it does work on (Demo and Dredge) it's really fun with Make Your Choice.

ALL HAIL OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR LIGHTBORN! ๐

Every once in a while I still get value out of the sloppy butcher + bloodhound combo. Having a bright red trail leading you exactly where a survivor is can sometimes catch even the most experienced of players off guard. And what's great is that it completely counters hiding and reduced sounds of pain.

Play with your food
Not many survivors expect you to be that tiny bit faster that turns a close stun into a hit
It also promotes the good habbit of ignoring one survivor untill someone is dead
0 -
For killer i love perks related to carrying survivors and chase other survivors while I carry someone ๐
And for survivor i love perks related to chests, rummage and stuff.

Insidious go brr

Tenancy is a fun one, they slug me for a bit then lose me

Calm Spirit. It's just hilarious seeing people who rely on screaming perks or powers not notice me literally next to them.
I'm talking to you, Doctor players. It's surreal how my survivor can be literally throwing up a lung next to their ear and they wouldn't notice because my character doesn't scream with their power.
1 -
I love PWYF, but much like Dark Devotion, it's really frustrating when I can't find the obsession.
1 -
I really like Inner Healing, but I feel bad bringing it now that boons are a thing. There's just something so satisfying about hopping in a locker and poof, healed.
1 -
We really want to see if a survivor will just walk up to us trying to win that staring contest now X}

I miss IH, but sadly the game has moved on past it. It's like if Demogorgon was a perk.
0 -
Fire Up, Stridor, and Bloodhound. Something about their abject worthlessness just... calls to me.
Also not a bad perk, but I REALLY like Trail of Torment.
1 -
Recently been loving Hex:Face the Darkness with Lethal on my Artist with her Servered Hands addon. There's no hiding. Much to the Claudette's out there dismay.
1 -
I love running iron maiden on my iridescent demo build. The add on that reveals auras when you travel through portals. Some people figure it out and start jumping in lockers to avoid aura reads. They jump out, scream, easy down. Damned if you do damned if you don't ๐
0 -
Hahaha yeah, I love Iron Maiden, but it doesn't take more than a few screams before they catch on. Double Iri Demo is still hilariously fun...I call it 'The Grabber'.
0 -
Tbh it's a little broken. I've never had a bad game using that combo. I usually let last survivor go but if someone is sweating it then last surv better hope hatch spawns on top of them or it's game over lol
0 -
Eh...Demo's problem has never been finding people (Sticky Lining+Whistle basically gives you map-wide sonar if you place portals right).
His problem is catching people - with how punishing Shred is to use compared to more recent, similar abilities. He's still a fun killer, but it feels like the game has just left him behind over the past year.

us shadowborn gamers still being oppressed by bhvr. Please just add a slider i want to have 4 perk slots.
