Why the new dead hard is bad for the game and suggested change

  1. Killers have to treat every initial encounter with a survivor as if they have it.
  2. It's the perfect perk for subtle cheaters.
  3. It's a horrible (almost laughably bad) perk for new survivors yet an insane perk for the skilled survivor.

Suggested change: When taking a hit while unhooking, vaulting or taking a protection hit dead hard activates and prevents the survivor from being put into the dying state. No movement speed buff and no shield to mend.

    1. This is a perfect example of learning your opponents strengths and weaknesses. If they have DH, they either use it in the first chase and out themselves as to, very likely, not having Lithe, BL, or any other exhaustion perk.
    2. SB and Lithe are also perfect perks for subtle cheaters; why is DH the only one called out for?
    3. It is a second chance perk that was one of, if not the strongest of the second chance perks; even in the hands of new Survivors it could be used to reach another loop. Currently it is still a second chance perk, but it has certainly been toned down as to not allow "press E to be free" situations; it punishes impatient Killers and that's where the current second chance comes in.

DH right now is better in terms of balance than it's previous incarnation. The suggested change can easily be abused if it activated on vaults or prot hits; this would guarantee 3-4 escapes every match if the Survivors were smart enough.

That suggested change is a conditional auto-dh .... which is boring af. The thing is, DH is still the most versatile and interesting exhaustion perk to use for a survivor.

That being said, none of the downsides you mention convince me.

Why is it a problem that the expectation is a surv has DH? If you wait it out first chase and they don't have it that's five seconds tops wasted on a perk they don't have ---- and now you don't have to wait for anything in future chases.

Changing DH so cheaters can't use auto DH won't even do anything about the cheater problem. It takes one tool out of their toolbox - which still remains massive. It's like trying to use a single bandaid to fix a ripped off arm.

While DH rarely gets pulled off by new survivors nowadays trying to use new DH makes the survivor learn and practise a number of skills related to chases in general; looking behind them, judging the distance between them and a killer, estimating swing/lunge distances, map&tile layouts, reading a killer. Aka those who try to use DH train their game sense and mechanical skills way more than those who don't.

So.. remove the possibility to be outplayed with DH and replace it with certain situations where incredibly vulnerable actions are guaranteed and completely safe?

Do you know how many survivors get downed vaulting something? If they get that for free, and there's no way to play around it other than to eat it, you're gonna make a much bigger monster than the one you're trying to kill.
