Best and worst Survivor voice actors?
In your opinion, who has the best and worst voice actors of all the Survivors? Which ones sound the most realistic to you, and which ones sound the least realistic?
My personal favorites are Meg and Jake, especially Jake. I know people like to give Jake ######### and say he has the whiniest voice, but if you take away the game and just listen to the sounds themselves... Jesus, man. Take a look.

Like, holy #########, Kevin Boisooneualt really outdid himself. I don’t just hear the pain in Jake’s voice; I bloody feel it. This is one of the huge reasons I’m a Jake main: He sounds more human than any other Survivor. It really helps me stay immersed when I’m injured.
On the other end of the spectrum, I would say Feng has the worst voice actor. She very rarely sounds like she’s in pain or like she’s even in a scary survival situation. The worst example of this is a few of her hook screams. She doesn’t scream; she SINGS. She physically hits a note. And she hits it rather calmly. Like, she just got impaled onto a hanging hook. That’s nothing to falsetto about! Not to mention, however, when it comes away from painful sounds and more to stuff like heavy breathing and falling sounds, she’s a painfully overdone mix between a squeaky toy and a hentai loli.
Overall, her voice actor nails very little.

Laurie's voice actor is by far my favorite out of everyone. It's so shrill, and she sounds absolutely in pain/terrified! I've noticed with a lot of characters when they do their screams/grunts, they sound like they're smiling or trying not to laugh as they record them (Lookin' at you, Kate!).
Laurie, however, has screams that just send chills down my spine and her grunts of pain sound unflattering and distraught (How anyone would sound getting smacked with a machete and having to remain silent). I feel like people commonly make female voices in games sound soft and cute, but Laurie's is an exception. Her genuine voice was really refreshing, and apart of why I chose to main her alongside her personality in the movies and style. Too bad people see her as toxic!

For instance, the scream at 0:12... Wow. THAT is a scream that belongs to a horror movie star.
I feel like it'd be a sin to not talk about the OG characters too. The actors they chose fit the characters to a T, honestly. Dwight sounds scared but determined, Claudette sounds timid and sweet, Jake sounds rugged and focused, and Meg sounds angsty and actually somewhat angry to me (I feel that fits her pretty well. I'd imagine she has somewhat of a rivalry with killers, and fights back).
When it comes to least favorite I totally agree with Feng. She sounds sorta wimpy, and not in a good way. It reminds me of a puppy begging for a treat, and it sorta throws me off lol. When I first heard it I was instantly reminded of an anime girl. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way!

+1
Laurie has the voice of an angel.
As for the worst, I would say Kate's old voice. It was so bad the devs changed it!

Agreed i also find her voice quite movie accurate, from the grunts to the screams.
It's the Scream Queen after all.

Kate Denson’s old soundfiles are worth the laugh. According to some, it sounds like porn. I think Kate’s new one is okay, but Claudette is my personal favorite voice-wise.1
-
My favorite is Meg, she's realistic and adorable at the same time, poor megan.
Hitting dwights is also fun, this "Ahhh-Hwuuu" never gets old.
Old kate was out of place, but the current one is okay, she sounds like... a songbird.2 -
It is objectively Feng.
Her voice is completely out of place but please never change those hilarious little squeals she has.6 -
...Put this video on max volume near one of your friends that doesn't play DBD.
2 -
I love Dwight's voice actor.
I think the worst is probably Feng's, because she makes me laugh when she gets hit. It just sounds funny.

I really don't have a favorite, since I've not really listened to the Survivors in pain too much. I can say that Bill and David K. have the most annoying screams for me.
It's not really because of their pain sounds alone though. They are loud as hell, and if anyone misses them, they probably don't have even subpar headphones.
Since I mainly play Min, I'm kind of immune to her whining, but they can get very annoying when I'm not healed for an extended period of time.1 -
I guess my least favorite is Quentin just because he sounds annoying imo. Best is probably Jake because you can just hear the pain on his voice1
-
Jake is my favorite, or Jeff.
Laurie as a terrifying scream but it sounds like a bird squawking.
3 -
Best Claudette and Meg's.
Worst is Kate.

Tapp is my favorite. Feng is my least favorite.1
-
Jake and Laurie is my Favourite while Feng and Adam Francis is the least (They barely sound like their in pain and it's downright awful)1
-
Bill's voice actor is the worst by default because they couldn't get Jim French or use recycled vox clips from Left 4 Dead %-)

I really like Tapps, It has a sense of failure that he couldn't protect the survivors but there is also some sense of Anger and Frustration, like he feels the need to get revenge on The Killer not only for hurting him, but for hurting the others as well. Which i guess fits into his lore of how he feels the need to "Avenge" the survivors.

It was on Coal Tower. I was Legion. The Tapp I played against was named "Detective Jonathan" and did a fair deal of flashlight clicking, especially when they managed to avoid a hit by camping at a pallet.

Did i manage to get a flashlight save off of this Legion who was playing the E-girl Susie and was about to carry David King to a hook?

No, I was playing Frank, but I did have Susie’s mask.

Then it wasn't me, because i remember playing against E-girl Susie and saving David from being hooked on Coal Tower.

Nea’s my favorite and Metalhead can go
1 -
Nea's voice is my fav. I also liked Kate's old voice, I know a lot of people hated it but it sounded really realistic at least.
1 -
Feng and Claudette.
1 -
Feng has both an unrealistic and kind of annoying injured cry and she sings on the hook. It sounds like what an anime survivor would scream and cry like. Nea’s hook scream sounds like a rooster but she’s fine otherwise.
The best I think would probably be Jake and Laurie. They sound like they’re in actual pain being hit with a killer weapon. I also like Meg, Claudette, and David.1 -
PERSONALLY, i love kate’s old voice and i hate her new voice, i like jane’s voice she sounds like she is in pain when you hit her or when she gets hooked. always like the original survivors voices, but i just want kate’s old voice back :(

My favourite's are Tapp and Ash.
The reason being is that both sound frustrated and annoyed and have a sense that they failed to protect themselves and the others.
You can hear this especially in Tapp's, Tapp's sounds more like a cry of anger than a cry of pain.
Ash's sounds a lot more like pain than anger but still sounds irritated that he managed to get caught.
Sorry Quentin my man, but you just don't have what makes these two more special.

Adam surely has a really good voice acting, he is one of the the few survivors that actually moans like they're in pain... But he's screams are kinda ######### lol.
Worst is surely old Kate's voice acting, on her PTB... My ears hurt with those screams.
0 -
I agree with you, Adam only has one or two pretty well done hook screams. He definitely has one of the most realistic sounds when he gets hit and is injured.
Another competitor for this imo is Jeff, now while he's loud af he does have some great voice acting by Phillipe Ivanovic. His hook screams especially, have you heard that really weird scream that Jeff does that sounds really strained and a bit higher pitched than his other screams? It's spine chilling really and his other screams really sound like he's in agonising pain.
Ash on the other hand...
*does a backflip* "HUUHH!!"
0 -
Claudette and Jake have my favorite voice actors and Jeff is my least favorite.
0 -
Worst is objectively Strode.
0 -
Strode's is good, though. Believe it or not, when you get smacked by a giant rusty cleaver swing from a supernaturally strong man, the noise that comes out of your throat is probably gonna be pretty ugly.
1 -
i agree, especially her hook screams, and when she gets hooked and you hear her scream from a distance, that's where it gets even better, and i feel like jake also has the second most realistic screams imo
0 -
Have you ever played killer and had a Jane drop down behind you? I did once on lery's and i nearly lost control XD
1 -
a jane dropping with her thiccness from the coal tower will force the end game collapse to begin,
0 -
Lmao even i it didn't really it would or me lmao
0 -
I love Quentin's edgy URGHHH sound when he gets hit 😂.
Also, even though Quentin is pretty high pitched, you can hear pain in his voice.
Louis McLean did an amazing job with Quentin even though he sounds nothing like him.
1 -
Ah, yes, I love his hook sound of "uuuuuuuuuuuuuu"
v good voicing 10/10
0 -
I just love Quentin's VA, I love everything about Quentin. It's why I main him :).
Ash is a close second with his stupid sounds 😂
0 -
Favorite gotta be Laurie, as annoying as she can sound her VA did an amazing job. It sounds so realistic. When you get hit be a weapon you're gonna sound pretty ugly. I'm also fond of Kate's old voice. Sure, her screams were painful to your ears but it sounded so realistic and I really liked it. I agree it didn't fit Kate, but I hope they'll use the voice for a new female survivor. Then just edit/tone down the screams.
0 -
Best for me is by far PTB Kate, you can't get any more real than that. Laurie came close, but OG Kate was the most real sounding ######### in the entire game. Worst is easily Steve, his sounds so phoned in and awful.
0 -
Nancy sounds like someone stepped on a Chihuahua's tail, but Ash is my least favorite. I can't stand his screams. It absolutely drives me up the wall.
0 -
Best for me are Dwight and Meg.
Worst would be Nea.
1 -
I would say I like Kate's old voice somewhat.
A lot of people said it was loud and worrying but it was literally the most realistic you will ever get.
Most people who are thrown onto a hook with enough force for a cleanly pierce through them would most likely wail like Banshees.
Also I don't know about you but if I was gravely injured I'm probably be wailing and moaning as well.
Steve would have to be the one I hate the most I'm sorry but it legitimately sounds like he's the bottom in a gay adult film.
