Does anyone else feel like the hatch game is done poorly?

Don't get me wrong, it's a lot better than just having 2 people stand in front of hatch for an hour. But the alternative is still pretty bad. I'm saying this as a killer main, and I need to clarify that before people start going ooga booga.

Basically the issue is survivors have very little stealth options around most doors, and if they're caught they're dead regardless. On the flip-side, killers cannot make it to certain door spawns in enough time to stop them from being opened. They also can't see the progress of certain gates at a distance.

To a degree this is the purpose of it. If the killer finds it first now the odds of escaping are in their favor more. But it's complete rng still. It just feels boring to me is all. It's either you get it or you don't and there's not a lot to be done. It's not super important, since at that point the game is over anyways. But I wish it would be made more interesting rather than beat the other person to a random spot. I find it to be the worst part of the match and will usually look around until I either find it or the survivor does and just let them go.

I kinda miss the old standoffs, even though I remember how much they sucked. At least it was interactive.

Think it'd be cool that after hatch is closed, it gets highlighted for both players. Any chest looted at that point guarantees a key to escape. Would give more options to both sides and make it feel tense again, like it could go either way. Maybe they're goin for a door. Maybe lookin for a key. Now it's more of a cat n mouse game.

Yea pretty much summed it up there. I think it's not a bad idea to leave the last survivor with an escape option so they don't just afk since they probably can't do much anymore. But as you said it just feels like u lose a kill for no reason or the guy who did nothing all match gets rewarded with an escape.

You go for the 4k and you waste somebody's time for a virtual trophy that lasts like a minute at most or you have the bot who hid the entire game waiting to teabag you get what they want. That's how it seems to go.

It's not a bad idea in theory, but the biggest issue is if you make it possible to escape through hatch after being shut killers will just camp hatch until you show up. Which is even more boring than before. Basically bringing back hatch stand-offs but where they're entirely in the killers favor. You wouldn't think someone would waste that much time just for the extra kill but dbd players are super petty about everything.

Current hatch is a result of standoffs lasting upwards of an hour. I do think the current endgame system is uninspired, but at least it ensures the match will end relatively quickly.

There's really nothing you can do to make the 1v1 scenario good. The game is based around an overpowered killer against weaker survivors, but they have a team. Current hatch is at least quick.

You're not wrong about how people would play, but it would make doors a little more viable. Right now it kinda just depends on how doors spawn. If they're on connected walls or have LoS to both, killer wins. If they're on opposite walls (provided survivor knows how to prime a door and be patient) survivor wins. At least if there's an alternate hatch method there's a chance for something interesting to happen. I'd like for them to come up with somethin completely different, but that's never gonna happen.

Hatch escape is a pity escape, at the end the killer still got a 4k in the sense that he won (the survivor shouldnt even escape if the game got to that scenario), hatch escape is a concept that exists just to make some people whine less

Me too have the idea of chest search guarantee a Key. But there should be some changes

-ECG should starts and Gates are powered when the 3rd survivor die

-Hatch should be closed by default

-And yes Hatch aura should be show to killer

Best play should be 1 light a Gate, then either wait and continue to open that Gate, or using that Gate to bait and go for Hatch or other Gate. Within 2min pressure
