I grinded to rift level 70 in 10 days. Heres my experience.
I have never completed a rift. I have been burnt out on DBD for years and can never manage to play more than maybe 20 hours every killer release. I thought it would be the same for the knight's release. I checked him out during ptb and said I'll play later. so, fast-forward to the 9th, I hop on to start earning the daily login rewards and I take the opportunity to check out the rift rewards this time around. I saw the Artist skin and decided. I WANT IT!!!!
So, I start grinding. The plan was simple, get as many tome challenges done as possible in as few matches as possible. I had a lot of extra challenge help thanks to the very easy to complete bone chill challenges. so, I started there I would alternate between completing all survivor/killer challenges per tome chapter, leaving the extremely hard challenges for last. I grinded through bone chill 1 and tome 13 chapter 1 and 2 within a single day. leaving only 3 challenges unfinished with the marking all 4 survivors as Ghostface, pallet stun a killer twice, and get a 4k with thrilling tremors.
Ranks came extremely fast, and I reached the 40's within only 3 days. I finished off a lot of challenges, the biggest challenge was the speed at which I was doing so. Survivor challenges are significantly harder than killer as the survivor has very little agency over things like healing, unhooks, chase escapes, totems broken. yes, survivor can make their builds focus on these aspects but most of these rely on the killer or other teammates doing very specific things. A key example of this is a hard challenge in chapter 2 of tome 13 where you have to pop a generator in the killer's terror radius. teammates love popping 99'd gens. it's like crack for them.
Another incredibly hard challenge comes in chapter 3 of tome 13 where you have to escape a trial with only sprint burst and quick and quiet equipped. First of all, I as a killer main have put no bp into survivors except Leon. I have very off meta perks and run with no exhaustion perks ever. my build currently is inner strength, renewal, spine chill, and we'll make it. so, for this challenge I had to level up meg to 5, and I ran with the tier 1 versions of required perks. what happened next was 2 hours' worth of matches where I was tunneled, every single game. I even had a game where a Ghostface and my teammates let me bleed out for 10 minutes by picking me up, knocking me down, stopping my hook timer, and just tea bagging me the entire time. that broke me and had me on the worst of moods for the rest of the play session as I grinded out rift tiers.
During this grind fest I also decided if the survivor challenges were going to be hard then so too would the killer challenges as I picked up huntress for the first time. I used huntress, and Sadako for all of my challenges besides the mandatory wraith and Ghostface challenges. learning how to play huntress was an incredible challenge and significantly slowed me down in terms of any challenges that required lots of sacrifices. I used coconutrts as my external guide on how to play her while I used onepumpwillie to teach me how to run the condemned Sadako playstyle.
I was making insane progress as by day 8 I was already in the late 50's early 60's. My progression was about 10-hour play sessions a day every single day with only 1 day where I didn't play at all. Mind you while doing this challenge I was doing my final exams for my senior year of university. I passed btw; one semester left.
The key thing I took away from this as I entered day 10 (today) was that the rift now, with all of the changes to it in terms of amount of challenges, the lower cost of xp to gain individual shards, and the bonus of their being an event. this didn't feel too awful to do. my last match for 70 wasn't even through a challenge completion, it was just a normal match. On top of that I have a lot of challenges left I can complete, half of chapter 3 and all of chapter 4 of tome 13 can still be grinded for me.
overall, with the challenge complete I walk away with 13 million bp grinded, 13 killers' prestige, 78 tome and event challenges completed, 80 hours played, one cry session from toxic matches, and the artist skin I wanted. oh, and all the Ghostface stuff, that's cool too, I guess.
but wait you cry out, tome 13 goes all the way to rift level 85! yeah well, I don't want to. it's not like I'm an over achiever or anything.....damnit. I'll be right back.

You've been burned out on DBD for years but you've never played Huntress until this past week and your only Survivor that gets BP is Leon?

Not sure whether to applaud you or worry for you but glad to see you got what you wanted

I was on console till the release of the artist, meaning playing a ranged killer is an awful idea. my mains have typically been high mobility killers like wraith and legion. I genuinely don't care for putting bp into survivors when I already find the gameplay to be typically easy especially if i swf on the rare occasions I have a friend that wants to play. Leon isn't even grinded for level 50, I think hes like level 47 because I had him at 40 (cause thats where i left him before the prestige rework) but needed certain items for challenges that he just didnt have.

i regret nothing.....and everything at the same time. all in all, not the craziest challenge for gaming I have ever done and look forward to trying to beat it on the next tome. though the next tome I will be logging my hours and time played, alongside recording everything to make a fun video.
