Is Dead Hard supposed to not work?

90% of the time when I use Dead Hard, I press E but it doesn't activate and I get downed anyway. It's like there's a 1 second delay between pressing E and the perk actually activating. Is that meant to happen? I feel like it should just activate on press without a delay.

Dead Hard will always do this as long as ping is a thing.

DH should be basetime + killer ping to not punish survivors for red ping killers.

Maybe run something else, then. A timer of 0.5s gets heavily impacted by latency. There is nothing you can do about it.

Dh works, it's whatever the server registers first. Either you have bad ping or you have bag ping or your bad. pick one. But even if the killer has bad ping just predict when the hit will happen at a pallet(like you are supposed to) and it will be fine.

Just make it so that if I press E, Dead Hard actives, remove the artificial delay.

Ping and packet loss make DH a pain to use a lot of times.

    - But I have also found that lunges and other extended-range-attacks seem to register... oddly. Like, even though visually the lunging killer has to cover more distance to get to you, you have to hit DH in time for a regular attack, not a lunge. When the attack started seems to be the determining factor, not when it actually hits. Which ... maybe even kinda makes sense from a programming POV (which action was initiated first; the attack or the DH?) --- but is super counterintuitive... cause that's not how it works irl.

If DH was actually as broken as bottom-MMR survivors on the forums think, the game would be much better. Sadly it's still the top survivor perk by far for some weird reason, as if the better survivors have long since figured out all the situations in which it is still the good old press E to win

i really wish they would change DH to not activate in the middle of a vault animation. dealing with that nearly every single chase is super annoying. if it wasnt 50% of survs doing this it would be one thing but survs have gotten super effective with it and now its just as annoying as it was before. just instead of it being used to get to a loop, its used to make the loop even stronger.

where IRL is a killer swinging a weapon at a person with dead hard?

I'm 99% percent sure you're trolling. But I'll humour you: I mean that apparently distance is not a thing. irl/common sense is: if someone were to cover a greater distance with a swing it would take longer ergo you have to dodge a little later. But in the game it seems you have to dodge as if it was still the short distance/swing time.

My ping is sp bad that I'll see the animation of DH and still get downed. Have to activate so early it's a absolute guess. Sucks that the best survivor perk is useless to half the world.
