knight takes no skill

it feels like every time I face the knight I lose because his pawns down me and it takes no skill as a killer to do anything except to hook survivors. This game has gone so downhill for survivors its not even fun anymore. Why would they make a killer that allows a CPU controlled portion of his power to do everything.

I remember how annoying it was to outplay a nemesis in a loop just to get rekt by one of his AI zombies(I know it's incosistent but when it happens u feel like you've lost to the AI not the killer)

Now, they made a killer which relies on the CPU to kill you or pressure you lmao, lemme just corner a survivor somwhere in the map and activate the brainless AI power that does everything for me and sandwich the survivor for a a free down, amazing skillful power indeed.

Yes they chase me. And then hit me on hook and nod their head at me after I stun them once.

@Krazzik didnt think i needed to explain the exact scenario of how i get downed by the guards. But no they are not just straight up downing me. The knight shadows the guards so you cant loop

Play Knight and pocket all those sweet sweet blood points then.

I know, I'm talking about situations when ur in a corner loop and he just uses his power, that's a guaranteed hit either from him or the guard.

Just hold shift + W. It works wonders in this situation.

Well if knight had an actually useful ability they might be able to express their skill.

    So buff him lol.

Not many people knows this but when a guard is chasing you,it will follow exactly the same path you take while moving (even in an open area, the guard will prefer to follow your path instead of coming directly at you),that said, you can potentially double back and loop a guard ai in circle infinitely if the knight is not chasing you or,instead, you can go for the banner and escape away (also, the guards will sometimes get stuck on some type of loops like Z walls or doors with only one entrance like the one in the rpd main all).

But yes,I guess that if you get caught by a guard ai (wich ring of detection is visible to you and can be easily avoided),is because the knight takes no skills to use,it is not that the players use tactics to place the guards in a strategic way right?

i mean the killer promotes holding W , however you can still do chain loops , its fun? no it doesnt...is there other way to play against a knight? NO, his playstile is one of the most monotome of the entire game , takes skill?yes, otherwise people would be dying against him non-stop , the killer is fun? NO , i rather prefer looking a wall than just holding W and just pre-dropping stuff and connecting loops all the time to counter his 1v1 power..

but thats just BHVR pushing a bad design killer to live again , the game is still fun , (cough, when solo Q teammates arent useless)

basically if your team is good enough and the map got decent tiles you can pretty much beat any Knight with 3 survivors escaping

do u even read what i write? u can't hold shift 2 when you're corened, that's why it's called: CORNERED.

I wouldn't be surprised if Knight is one of those sleeper high-rank hitters where a select few dedicated players get reaaaaally good with him while everyone else says he sucks. Kinda like how Sadako took everyone by surprise by being a high kill rate killer at high MMR.

His power seems to have a high skill floor and ceiling, possibly even higher than Blight.

Then shift + w into another direction before you get CORNERED.

he really is that type of killer

most just assume he is a killer that can only camp well (even though the guard instantly disappears when you start to unhook, it litteraly says that in his power description) and can be countered by holding w

if you actually know how to play him well, you'll know that is not true at all (this is coming from a top 10 knight player on steam)

most knight players I played against just play super aggresive, immdeiately placing guards without paying attention to survivors location(which then causes the survivor to just take the safe route without triggering the hunt and the knight player losing their power for a while)

Would you happen to have some good tips?

I'm really struggling to make the knight work so it would really help

Most definitely not higher than blight. xD

Blight has got a pretty much endless skill ceiling.

Every Knight I play against goes one of two ways.

    1) gets one kill at most and the match is probably very frustrating for them

    2) the game goes on for 45 minutes plus when they camp a 3 gen in a tiny part of the map that they refuse to leave from the very start of the match, and the uncoordinated Solo Q survivors eventually die either of boredom or lack of ability to break the regression as a team.

I agree though about his kill rate. People will figure out a strategy at some point to win more consistently without using example 2, maybe when some perks are tweaked and new metas start to emerge other than the one we have now.

On a 6 game winning streak (no 3 genning) last match was the knights map and before that, garden of joy. He's pretty easy to play and takes little skill imo. I get guards detecting survivors pretty much every time I fire a patrol path. The 2v1 is the way to go with him.

    * Play him like spirit albeit aim to drop the guard ahead of where they are running. Try and disquise your phases by running alongside walls and obstacles when looking to place ahead of a running survivor. Use your ears, you'll hear the chase audio que if you get so close to a survivor, if not, you'll be able to hear them running/breathing.

    * Firing patrols at unthrown pallets works well as it forces the survivor to leave it or risk getting hit by the guard and by you.

    * Use map of the realm and dried horsemeat. The detection range is bigger and makes it pretty easy to detect a survivor providing you're accurate. The other addon increases his hunt duration which buys you extra time to cut them off

    * When you get a survivor detected, try to head them off in a corner or at a pallet. I find survivors are more occupied trying to avoid the guard chasing them more than the actual knight that's waiting for them nearby. Try to let the guard hit first, if not, get the hit and let them run off.

    * Fire off guards repeatedly. Your power recovers quickly so use it as much as you can. Keep spamming your power in and around gens and you'll pretty much always get a detection. Firing guard patrols constantly is oppressive and survivors won't get a moments piece.

    * If your patrol doesn't find anyone/undercooked it, hit the gaurd with your melee weapon. It'll cancel the guard allowing you to prepare the next one.

    * Only use Carniflex at breaking, he's ok in a chase still so don't feel obliged to waste him on a pallet if your in a chase.

    * I'm all ears works nicely on him as survivors often rush a vault to escape a gaurd, only then giving you the info you need to head them off.

Overall - Just keep firing guards off often and keep the survivors constantly being chased and harrased.

    • Carnifex is a godsent at pallets. He destroys them so fast, that you can order him to kick it and walk right through the pallet. Its a giant time saver during chases.
    • Use the other guards to force survivors off gens. Their kick animation is longer and survivors can´t repair while they are smashing the gen. Great for stopping survivors from finishing gens in your face.
    • Jailer is good at snuffing out hidden survivors. When you have lost a survivor mid chase, use him to flush the survivor out.

as said by the forum member i quoted, he has a high skill floor, a single comment wouldn't be able to put all the stuff you need to know about playing him

but there are 3 main tips you should 100% know

his best addon is map of the realms, it's a must have to be able to trigger hunts consistently

when placing guards, try to listen where the survivor is at and then follow the survivor to then drop a guard on them(read the room aswell, if you are in a corner/dead end situation, it's better to instantly drop a guard on the loop instead) and place guards a bit infront of the survivor's location to make sure the hunt will trigger (also note that the guard has to have line of sight of the survivor)

when chasing hunted survivors, try going the route that will overtake the survivor's route to force them into the guard or make them run into you to get a hit, also, keep track of the chasing guard, the survivor might decide to go the opposite route of the guard instead

He is a B tier killer now.

People just need to get used to his playstyle.

Unless the loop is too small for that, and you have no choice but to take a hit.

Yeah, I'm not sure I've ever taken a hit from a guard in a situation where the knight wasn't also in pursuit. Escaping a guard is as easy as picking a direction to hold W in and not cornering yourself.

Of course, I don't think I've faced a knight in a week or two.

That's one of the reasons I like him and I've played a lot with him since release, he require so few skill so he is one of the few killers who can be played more chill and relaxed. Not a lot of killers can offer you this, maybe yo also can think in Warith, one of the easiest killers in the game if not the easiest, but Wraith despite having a simple and easy power still require mindgames in chase, knight dont. LOVE HIM.

Of course playing matches with a killer in braindead mode forever is not ideal, it becomes boring and I still prefer some challenge and I like mindgames, but having a killer who let you play with your neurons turned off is welcome in the killer roster.

I don't think the guards are hard to deal with but his design is terrible because they can just insta drop a guard at every place you run to and it just takes the brain away from the equation and becomes stale gameplay, I can see how in certain situations you could feel that way just because of the lack of thought needed with a strategy like that, it definitely doesn't take alot of brain cells to play this killer I will say that
