Thoughts about new Solo Q changes
I am glad BHVR is adding info to help Solo Q!
However……… I have thoughts! ;)
Say everyone is working gens. We see the repair icon next to our names. Someone gets hooked. We’re still in same predicament as before where we don’t know who should stay on gens and who should go for the save.
We will have icons for repairing and rescuing, but nothing in between. Nothing that says someone is going to rescue. Just the act of rescuing gets an icon. At least that’s how I read it. It’s not quite the same as being on team chat saying “you guys do gens, I’ll go for save”.
Its possible that someone jumps off gen not to save, but to hide or change gens. I mean there won’t be an icon for walking around, will there? (How many icons could there possibly be!). Meanwhile, I’m on gen thinking “oh that person is no longer repairing, maybe they are going for the save”. But then they don’t.
If everyone jumps off gens to save, and we all see the repair icons disappear from our names, then we all could easily jump right back on thinking “well someone has to stay on gen”
i know it won’t be a perfect system, but I’m wondering if it will cause problems and confusion.
I was thinking what if there is something you could press to say “I’m going for the save”. but that could be a problem when you get chased and can’t save , so now you have to cancel that option during the chase so ppl know you can’t go for the save.
Im not saying BHVR get rid of this new change. I know it’s new and they’ll need to gather reaction from players , etc.

I agree with a quick text option as inconveniences like what you presented are possible. I doubt it would be difficult to implement as they just need to be direct and clear i.e
"I'm committing"
"Someone else go"
"Killer's near me"
But the new action icons are definitely a step in the right direction and I'm glad they're finally coming to help soloQ.

just run kindred. survivors will be way more efficient on gens with this update. That enough for now

Ehh, I think once people get used to using them there won't be too many complications. Players will figure out a rhythm. It may not be a perfect system, but it's far more than we have now.

Wont change a thing, problem with soloq is most of its players are not the sharpest tools to put it lightly, no icons will make your teamates stop going down to joke m1 killers without wasting at least 2 gens worth of time.

I'll still use Kindred, which will give me that bit of extra info. Presumably once someone is hooked, another will get chased shortly after, so there will be two on gens. If one leaves it's likely they're going for the unhook, so the other will just stick to the gen. I think whatever confusion comes about in these scenarios will be made up in gen efficiency.

A text wheel with a couple options would be cool. Although you know it would be used for BM haha.
