What’s happening to DBD?…
I really don’t understand how this game can go from memeing in snowmen and having fun with the killer, to getting beaten to death on the hook, slugged as last person alive until bleeding out on the ground, instantly removed from the match because of ultra-rare addons like tombstone or offerings like mori. It seems like camping and tunneling that one survivor for a mori is more important than actually playing the game and letting everyone enjoy it. Why is Behavior allowing this type of toxic behavior? Instead of preventing it, they are making it easier for people. A killer that can send «guards» to camp the hooks for them, seriously? These changes are ruining the whole community and experience. The more toxic players there are, the less wholesome and nice players. Is that really what we want?

... complaining about moris, really?
12 -
Why are do you think a role called KILLER is supposed to be nice to you?
14 -
did you ask to yourself why those things are so common? i'll tell you why since i'm slowly becoming (not yet but soon probably i'll play only in that way) one of these killers: WE ARE TIRED. Tired to be disrespected by people despite we play "fair", tired of being trashtalked regardless how a match will go, tired to see survivors complain about tunneling and camping when they are the main reason why those killer do those tactics (optimal and unfun gameplay such as pushing generators even when injured or bodyblocking and sabo the hooks when a killer is trying to hook someone, map offerings, busted items/addons/perks, being toxic for no reason or because you know to be in a ultra safe part of the map), tired of all 2nd chances that survivors got overall speaking. These are some reasons why killer players are doing those things. Clearly there are people who actually enjoy playing in that way, but those types of players are extremely rare.
8 -
... not realizing this is clearly a newer player?
0 -
Btw, Knight cant actually camp as well as you'd think. Sure it might seem intimidating when you see a guard next to a hook but all you have to do, is start the unhook. The moment you start it the Guard will disappear.
5 -
With a complaint that would've made sense only years ago?
7 -
I agree people are kind of getting particularly toxic recently, but as much as I hate getting mori'd and tombstoned, those are not toxic in and of themselves. Annoying, yes, but not toxic.
Plus, the Knight's guards vanish as soon as you touch the person on hook. They really aren't that great of a camping tool.
Regardless of how right the OP is, just because you're playing as a serial killer doesn't mean you have to behave as one. It's still a game.
Besides, slugging the last person to death while you teabag their body is toxic, but isn't exactly the most "killer"-like behaviour. People sometimes are just a**holes and that's about it.
5 -
If you think Killers do not treat their victims horribly before finishing them off, I have some movie recommendations for you.
Also yes, you should behave like a serial killer. It is how you win. This game is not tennis and does not follow its rules for "sportsmanship".
4 -
The survivor community is just expecting to win.
If you tunnel as a killer? Prepare to be screamed at nonstop in endgame chat.
If you bring too many slowdowns? Nonstop complaints.
If you camp as a killer? Well, you know what happens.
If you BM as a killer? Prepare to be called things like "toxic tryhard" and "uninstall the game kid".
If as survivor, they bring 3 commodius BNP, with genrush builds, and one looping build, and finish all gens within 4 minutes and nonstop BM the killer at the exit gate, the killer is not allowed to complain, otherwise he is a terrible human.
Its just how games where 4 players play against 1 work, the survivors have a much larger voice.
9 -
Don't forget you aren't allowed to AFK, either! NOT playing the game ALSO ruins games for Survivors!
5 -
You're also not allowed to run aura reading perks! They are EXTREMELY OP!
4 -
So many people don't seem to understand that a guard camping a hook isn't strong. Does no one read killer-power descriptions?
7 -
If it looks like its good at camping, everyone's gonna scream it needs nerfs.
The fact that 2 things can be infront of a hook makes most survivors think its OP at camping
0 -
Some specific interactions with powers are not specified in their description, however if you are gonna complain about something you should at the very least know how that thing you are complaining about works.
And more to your topic, most survivors have no idea what killer powers do or killer specific things, for example, people still do not know trickster and sadako have a lullaby or that you only need to lock one locker against dredge when there are piled lockers, which imo is basic info.

Jesus Christ, this is a only a video game. You should behave like a normal human being.
Sometimes I really get the feeling some killer mains are living a disturbing fantasy with this game.
6 -
That is literally what immersion is.
If I behaved "like a normal human being", most of us would never be able to bring ourselves to press the M1 key to do a basic attack.

Let it go. As killer ive had nasty teams try to ruin my fun. I used to let it get to me, but playing chill ive had so many friendly survivors reach out. Its just a game. If you get jerks just go looking for the 5th survivor, play hide and seek. The game has a timer. In the end it doesnt matter.

1st of all nothing is handed to killers since killers in order to get kills must actually chase people (which require ACTUAL skill in that case for both sides unlike pushing m1 on generators like automatons), add the fact that most maps in the game are literally unplayable for low tier killers due to being too much safe or too much big and you start to understand things a bit better (at least i hope so)... 2nd see, killers have 3 choices left at this point: leave the game or play only survivor or adapt to the circumstances... in my case i'm not crying, i'm adapting to the survivor's gameplay since i'm one of the FEW killer out there who are still playing with meme addons and sometimes average builds, but when 8 of 10 matches you found people who keep tryharding, using every tools at their disposal in order to escape and being annoying toward the killer despite said killer is playing fair, well, it's perfectly understandable that the killer will make the motto "better safe than sorry" their mantra and will start to play in an unfun way in order to have better chances of winning, ignoring the fun of the others.

I don’t complain about moris in general. They’re cool and all, but when the main purpose for the killer is to camp and tunnel one survivor just for a mori then it turns into toxic behavior. I had a match where Onryo was camping the tv from the beginning of the match just to tunnel me and get the mori. I also don’t expect killers to be nice and let me escape, and I never said I feel bad only for the survivors and not the killer. I’ve been in some really toxic bully squads and I play killer a lot myself. But what can you do as a solo queue player? When I try to meme and be nice with the killer, standing still and nod as a bunny Feng and the killer doesn’t even stop to look before he downs me. What I get is some hits on the hook and the killer staring or chasing me to death. I just think it’s sad to see players that don’t care at all about how the opposite part feels and they clearly don’t want to or know how to interact with the survivors. I get that killers are behaving this way most likely because the previous match was bad or that my other teammates are behaving toxic and pissing him off, or that they’re just a scumbag in general and wants no one to have fun. Sure it’s «just a game», but when everyone is starting to play like this then where’s the fun? Maybe there’s not much for Behavior to do, but I wish more people tried to be nice every now and then, and not take the game so seriously. Just because someone is toxic, it doesn’t mean YOU have to be.

True but it does actually say in his killer power that unhooking cancels the hunt.

How is he supposed to know that?
You dont download DbD and then all of a sudden know the ins and outs while also getting an instant history lesson.

I did play some years ago, but I quit since I was too bad at looping and died every match so I didn't really have fun playing. But you're right, I don't know what the game looked like back then when it comes to perks, moris etc. I only know how the game makes me feel now, and it's been pretty depressing to solo queue last couple of days. That's all I can say. I don't complain about moris, but the type of people using them just to be #########

My personal experience?
As survivor, my teammates are usually dummies (soloQ experience), cant loop or do gens consistently
As killer, the survivors i face are way better than the survivors im paired with in soloq, and i MAIN SURVIVOR
that is veeery stupid, and makes most of my games boring and/or miserable, on either side
Just dont care anymore, do my challenges as selfish as i can and good bye

And fyi, I don't know exactly how Knight works either since I never played him, only against him. Maybe he's bad for camping hooks, but from what I have seen it works pretty well

I expect you to know that a mori only happens after your third down by simply having it only happen to you then, so you're not removed early.
Unless it's constant Devour Hope they're running into, but the mori complaint is way more general.
0 -
Like I said, you're removed early when you get camped and tunneled for the mori so it's not mori that is the main issue here

I love all the killer mains bitching about survivors on this thread as if there 60% win rate isn't good enough? Honestly, what ratio do you all think is appropriate? 80%? 90%? Seriously. If you played a board game with someone and they won 60% of the time you would never play with them again. And its the survivors that are entitled....
6 -
Take it easy Francis.
Im just waiting for the people who inevitably show up and start calling playing killer "their job".

Yeah, it can be frustrating sometimes - but a few things.
- Unhooking dispels that guard.
- Camping and tunneling are less rewarding than they've been in recent memory.
- What changes?
It's also no less annoying from the other side at times - super sweaty SWFs who will go out of their way to make sure that nobody benefits from that flan you brought out of sheer spite.
This causes killers to become less likely to play chill, which in turn causes other survivors to be nasty and on and on it goes.
Unfortunately, BHVR have a...bit of an odd attitude towards toxicity, in that you can do anything short of dropping racial slurs and be fine.
That 60% winrate is bogus.
Think of it this way.
I see a quitter in maybe 1/3 of my games as killer, and I play chill. Some are DCs, but more than half are hook suicides.
SWF escapes more than solos - around 15%. So let's be conservative and say...the lack of suicides and AFKs alone in SWFs add another 5%.
Suddenly, it's not 60%. It's 40%.
Also - huh? I played board games with my mates in college, as well as chess with one of my former girlfriends. I'd say that I'd lose more than 60% of the time, depending on the game. Why would I quit? A game you always lose is no fun, but ditto with a game you always win.
Oh, I've been putting together some data from both ends of things recently, and survivors are BM at around twice the rate killers are, even accounting for the 4:1 ratio (8x more games have a toxic survivor than a toxic killer).
Solo queue is depressing - but you have the option of playing in a SWF. The DBD discord has groups popping off 24/7 at all levels of skill.
I've literally never seen that. Can you give me an example of anyone that's said that recently and not being facetious?
Sadly this.
DbD is in serious need of a jerk fumigation. There's something about this game that just brings out the worst in people.
1 -
Hush those gums, you've had everything handed to you since the inception of the game, definitely not a good look.
2 -
Survivors were brokenly OP for most of DbD's lifespan. Now that killers finally at least sometimes feels like the power role...well, let's just say that this post made me chuckle.
Want to know what 'EVERYTHING handed to you' looks like at the highest tiers of this game? Watch the community cup.
Even with survivors limited on what they could bring, a fairly killer sided map and killers slugging, tunneling, camping and doing everything they can to win - often 1-2 kills, max.
2 -
Are you actually aware of what game you're playing? Do you think the game is a "meme"? Do you think every match should be "chill fun"? I dont get it.
0 -
When I try to meme and be nice with the killer, standing still and nod as a bunny Feng and the killer doesn’t even stop to look before he downs me
Sorry but have you thought how that might come across for the killer player?
I can tell most likely not as "playful/memeing" behaviour. Iirc bunny Feng is a skin especially notorious for being used by toxic survivors in the past.

60% kill rate =/= win rate
Also that's an average value and if we want to argument in extremes in this snowballing gameplay game, then those 60% represent 3/4k leaving still 40% with 0/1k.
Who is to say that the 6-7 people you are talking about here don't belong to the thousands in the second categorie?
And before you tell "then do you want it higher, at 80-100% you killer main?", No i don't care about that. I am just trying to give you a little perspective for that hyperbole argument of yours.

Peanits broke down escape rates and his explanation didn’t match up with your bogus (“it’s really 40%”) math. He may have even said that hook suicides aren’t considered (survivors failing to unhook). He definitely said DCs don’t. Maybe even AFKs.
0 -
60% just means you normally get 2 kills, occasionally 3. the ratio isnt a "win rate" its a kill rate. very different. if someone has a 60% rate of being okay at a board game I'd just play the game for fun anyway. I think to some extent both sides are entitled, its the vocal minority. someone will always think dead hard is balanced or eruption has counterplay, and they will always be wrong. I think a 66% kill rate would be good, so you most often kill 2 but also get a 3 often too.
so fun when people whip out the ratio without even knowing what it means.
1 -
For the last time, the second you start the unhook animation, the guard goes away. The guards do not work for camping. Go for the save.
0 -
I mean, if they camp/tunnel specifically to get a Mori early in the match, it kinda just becomes a complaint about camping/tunneling yeah? Just that the Mori criteria fit in perfectly for a Killer that is also camping/tunneling at 5 gens but with added cream on top.

There's a lot of 'may' there. And in this case 'may' means 'emphatically didn't'.
He said DCs. He never said suicides or AFKs, and plenty of people mention exactly that in that thread.
I factored everything we know about escape rates when I worked on my little dataset (still working on it actually, will probably post it after the LNY event).
They match up and that's with me being overly conservative with numbers in some places. An organized SWF will have between 15-20% more escapes, meaning that kill rates fall proportionally.

Hi, folks, keep it civil and respectful. Make sure to keep your posts about the topic rather than devolving to insults. Thank you kindly.
0 -
Ya, I concede the 60% statistic is pretty useless without a ton of extrapolation that isn't provided.
0 -
Yeah I didn't know that. I've always thought it was the opposite when I played killer. I don't take the game too seriously
0 -
Anything that is part of the core mechanics of the game is not toxic.
0 -
Did I say any of those things? No. But when the playerbase is as small as it is, I think it's important to focus on what makes the game better and more fun for everyone in general. When I play killer and survivors choose to meme instead of rushing the gens for the game to be over immediately, I have much more fun because I get to interact with the survivors. Anyway, you can play well as killer and still be respectful and non-toxic. That's all I'm saying. I do think it's a lack of understanding and communication overall.
0 -
I also like how people are blaming each other for being toxic, as an excuse to be toxic themselves. That's not how it works, you know. Treat others the way you want to be treated yourself. Just because my previous match as a killer was against a toxic bully swf, it doesn't mean I have to play like a bully killer next match
0 -
I would say it counts as toxic behavior when it affects other people's experience negatively :) Not the mechanics of the game itself, but how people choose to use them
