Because the servers (particularly in the UK) were unplayably potato for a week around Christmas.

It isn't confirmed that Bubba is being removed, yet. I'd wait for official confirmation.
As for the Bone Chill event, the EU servers (I heard London) was doing some weird stuff and it ruined stuff for at least a week.

If it was not true they would have said so here on the forum. It's said everywhere about Bubba they would have stopped this already if it was just a rumor.

That's very untrue as there have been multiple leaks in the past which they have not spoken out against despite them not being true.

Because the bone chill event was fun. Something the game needed. As a killer main jumping into a snowman has been so much fun. Goofing off has been a nice change. Ive seen hardcore swf teams melt when i play killer snowman. Party time dudes. Cheer up

I mean, I'm sure plenty of people are buying the DLC by fear of it getting removed.
So delaying the clarification would not be an unwise marketing decision.

I guess some servers were unplayable so the event was extended. I'm glad for it because I wasn't done with the deep rift yet.
As for Bubba, good riddance. Rest in piss.

This. The new Texas chainsaw massacre game obviously owns the rights to the character, and as such it may not allow anyone else to renew any previous licenses they had for the character, in this case BHVR.

You do realise that, if the license does end, players will still keep Bubba if they already had him, right?

There was an official response in one of the posts. Basically, to BHVRs knowledge, they still have the license with no indication yet that they will lose it. Yes, a Texas Chainsaw Massacre game is coming out, and there is a possibility that they may rescind the license or choose not to renew it, depending on the license type.

I have tried searching the forum for the first post, which started the rumour that Leatherface would no longer be available for purchase. Unfortunately, it looks like it was deleted, as I can't find it. Inside that post was a comment by, I believe, Mandy stating that the rumour was unfounded. There was also another post on Leatherface leaving the game, and inside was an embedded Youtube interview with the Devs. They were asked about the state of the license to use Leatherface, and the Devs stated that, at this time, there is no indication from the license holder that they will be revoking the license.

I think @GoodBoyKaru debunked the removal, but it's hard to completely confirm either way.
Bone Chill went longer because of server shenanigans for some folks.

I wouldn't say I debunked it, but I gave all the evidence that makes me doubtful enough to not panic until it gets officially announced (or doesn't)

It's also possible BHVR and the owner's of Leatherface IP are in negotiations so no one can say for certain what will happen.
