Platform privacy settings dont work in game

I play on console and have all my privacy settings strictly set so nobody, even my friends can see me online. why am I appearing online on my friends in game friends list? this is a serious issue for in game contact lists to overwrite my platform online safety settings.

Can a developer comment on this and make it a priority to fix please.

It’s not a bug that needs to be fixed, apparently it has something to do with Sony and Microsoft not allowing the privacy settings to be an option in game. So whilst those on PC can hide their identities, those of us on console can not.

Does that mean that every console game overwrites the players profile and console safety settings to show everyone online all the time? I play two other games daily that allow privacy settings to take effect in game. why is this game different?

It seems only this game shows you as either in game or on a menu whenever it is running on my Xbox. Has always done that.

I've noticed this playing on PS4. It will say I'm online/in game even though I've chosen "show offline" on my system. Other online games I've played it don't override my show offline setting. It's definitely annoying this game ignores my show offline setting.

Can we get a dev to comment on why this problem exists? The settings your game overwrites is from privacy and ONLINE SAFETY section of my console settings. Its not ok that youre poor game design wants to put me at risk from people in the real world who now have the ability to know when I am home or not.

Real life people are using this info to terrorize me and my son. I have contacted my local police and made them aware but if something happens to my son as a result there is no limit to money I will spend on a legal team to hold Behaviour 100% liable as much as the law allows.

This happens on steam too, appearing invisible will still show you as online in the game. The game just does not support that feature i suppose.

I am a bit concerned how letting your console friends know when you are playing dbd put you at risk of being terrorized though... i mean only your friends on the platform and dbd friends can see that. If it's such a risk you could just remove them all?

    Hey-o Mandy!

Is there a status update on the always-online issue? I have a great friend who likes to play very differently than I do; being able to choose when I can just zone out would be stellar.
