Best Advice if the killer is 3 gen locking…
Best advice I have heard was from Swarm. “If the killer is 3 gen locking from the start and you’re in soloQ, just go next”
Literally the best thing I’ve been doing. Had 5 matches in a row when I logged on where the killer had …. The build…. Gave it 2 eruptions then moved on. The rest of my matches were a lot better!

You’re first mistake was listening to Swarm.

Wait, was his advice literally 'throw the game'? Or did I misunderstand what 'go next' means?
12 -
It's pretty unacceptable that BHVR hasn't adjusted Eruption at this point. How hard is it to acknowledge that it's unhealthy and disable it until a solution is found? At no point since last July have they had time to revisit a single perk?
24 -
True!
Some games aren't winnable, so I'll just ######### around and try to practice while they hold their precious three gen. Try to hit all Greats, try to loop without dropping a pallet, etc etc

There are some matches just not worth playing. In the 20 minutes it takes to fight that strategy, you can have fun matches against killers who intend to kill and not just kick gens.
18 -
They did revisit it, now it continues to regress the generator after incapacitating the Survivors fixing it, before at least if you were fixing the gen it didnt regress... They actually buffed it even more.
I dont really like using Whataboutthism but something that really irks me is the fact Circle of Healing got tweaked twice in 6 months, the last one before 6.1 as a preemptive strike due to community complains, I agree CoH needed some nerfs but Ecrutchion needs them too and 6 months is more than enough to see its too overtuned.
11 -
Have they ever disabled a perk over balance concerns?
6 -
It's not overtuned though, it's still bad against SWF. It's just really good against solos, what it needs is a buff and a retooling to work better against SWF while being more manageable for solos.
Perhaps they think that the new changes will help solo queue enough to make it less impactful.
3 -
Its still very good against SWF, if you kick 3 gens you get a 30% regression across the board after a down even if you dont get anyone incapacitated.
If it wasnt good against SWF too nobody would pick it because stomping Solos is not that hard, Ecrutchion or no Ecrutchion.
9 -
It's good against SWF's, it's just better against Solo's.
14 -
I don't think the new changes will help unless, stay off gen if you notice someone being chased. There's no way to know when they will get downed.
1 -
Take empathy, congrats you’ve counterplayed eruption
3 -
Yeah empathy doesn't show you the killer so I don't know what you're talking about. There is no reliable counterplay for eruption, that's just a fact.
20 -
Nerfing Eruption is not gonna “fix” anything or satisfy players, as killers can still hardcore defend gens with just CoB and OC which will continue to hurt solo que, unless you’re gonna say those need nerfs too.
0 -
keep getting incapacitated, I guess
1 -
Yet you conveniently forget that DS was left as a free meat shield for a good year or DH for distance for a good five years, when Ruin and Undying sure didn’t last nearly that long. Also, the last time they gave in to constant moaning, we got a knee-jerk nerf that made Thana completely useless.
4 -
In what world does empathy counter eruption?🤓
5 -
Mostly that's true, you can't control your team and if they're not pressuring multiple gens the game is over. Pretty sure this was the plan from BHVR so ######### killers continue to play killer so queues aren't so long.

In the world where you can watch how someone who is injured is running, dropping pallets, etc to tell if they’re at a strong loop or not (and whether they’re a strong looper in general) and therefore whether they’re about to go down.
2 -
So? Throwing the game is for people too immature to take the L like an adult.
Sorry to say it that way, but it is. It's this mindset of 'I'm not having fun, so allow me to just give up because only I matter.'
It's the same BS mindset behind 'If I see [insert Killer/perk/map here] I don't like; I throw'. It's just a weak excuse to ruin the match because 'I've already lost' or 'I'm not having fun' instead of trying.
8 -
So....what exactly are we supposed to do?
Sit in the game and try to keep doing gens where the Killer can hold us forever?
Throw ourselves at the Killer and hope he kills us?
What exactly do you want people to do?
8 -
Wait...hang on.
3gen shutdown is one thing, but if you're just being pouty because a killer brought a build you didn't like, that's something else entire.
Why not just play the match out? I see a fair bit of Eruption, and it's definitely not unbeatable.
This is as petty as saying 'well, if a survivor is running Dead Hard I just AFK'.
Because:
A. It's far from unbeatable.
B. It's only really strong against solos.
C. They think that the new status icons will help with it.
D. There have been way, way stronger perks that didn't get kill switched.
Imagine if killers did this whole 'well, if I see that perk I don't like I'm just going AFK and pouting' thing? Survivors would struggle to get a single match.
Eh...
Firstly, if you're getting 3genned as a SWF you've got bigger problems than Eruption.
Secondly, 30% regression for 3 kicks if you down someone is...worse than probably any regression perk that isn't Ruin.
Not hard counter, but I run it for a variety of reasons, and you can often guess fairly accurately when someone's getting close to going down. You need an aura perk if you're playing solo, honestly.
If a killer is literally just kicking gens, then grats - you've won. Because Eruption needs downs to activate.
Seriously, I get that people find Eruption annoying - but this sort of wall-to-wall hyperbole isn't useful. It's just complaining.
Try baiting him off so that your team can do the gens.
Play in an SWF so you can coordinate.
Bumrush the gen.
If the killer isn't attempting to kill you and just holding you in the game forever - Peanits has already confirmed that this is a hostage situation and thus bannable.
The glare from that tinfoil hat you're wearing is blinding.
5 -
Empathy/Fogwise/Stake Out/Hyperfocus: slam gens, get intel on the killer and see how close the chase is actually going.
With the prevalence of three gen situations and Eruption/CoB combos, this isnt a bad build.
1 -
People don't go for baits.
Can't bumrush against CoB, tells him when we're on it and he'd be throwing to not return.
And yes, if you don't play SWF you are asking to have a terrible time, I know.
2 -
If he's not chasing, then yeah - hostage situation.
If he is chasing, then your team should be on those gens like stink on cheese.
2 -
I stand corrected, if you choose you can devote your entire loadout to possibly counter eruption as long as you hit a great skill check right before the killer downs your team mate.
7 -
That's assuming my teammates are sentient.
1 -
The difference is that Circle of Healing is 100% in the control of the Survivors. Killers cannot actually control Eruption. You have to kick a gen, you have to get into a chase, you have to down the Survivor, and that down has to happen at the exact moment a survivor is working on that previously kicked gen. That's a lot more dominoes to fall into place than just pressing E at a totem and making a blue healing field anyone can use at will.
5 -
Well, that you can't control (well, you can - play in an SWF) - and it's not something the game can be balanced around, any more than it can be balanced around 1 in 3 matches having a survivor suicide or DC.
3 -
You're preaching about having good, fun matches, and in the same breath advocating for behavior that ruins the game for everyone involved. Leaving a game early is worse than tunneling and face camping combined... because everyone is penalized by it. Not to be a jerk but, get over yourself.
9 -
Players can get removed from the matches and can opt to leave through in-game means as well. No one enjoys being in a 3v1, but I didn't queue for DBD expecting to get a 20-30 minutes war of attrition. If I wanted that, I would play a ranked MOBA instead.
There was no hyperbole there. Playing against a 3-gen eruption/call of brine is just a check for Circle of Healing and map resources management. It's fun and engaging the first few times, but it wears out quickly when every other killer employs the same strategy and perks.
7 -
there's eruption + some other gen kick perk. And then there's *the strategy*. The former is annoying and certainly carries a good amount of killers to places they don't belong --- and the latter is just prolonged misery.
If I find myself in the latter position and without the necessary prerequisites to have a shot. I just do what the tutorial told me to do once upon a time: sit my bum smack in the middle of the three gen, hold M1 and never let go. Then it taught me you can try to unhook yourself. And then I sigh so deeply and Bury my face in my hands because it didn't work - and sadly I missed two skill checks. Such a pity.
No but on a serious note. There is trying to fight an uphill battle and seeing it through --- and there's going "I heckin love being reduced to a punching bag. please kick harder."
6 -
I just start hitting the 3 gen immediately. I'd rather do that and either die quick and move on, or break the 3 gen and finally get a proper game going. I'm not gonna bother popping the rest of the gens first and then try get the 3 gen. It's boring for one, with the killer just staying in the one corner until we pop 4 gens, and second it just makes the game drag way too long trying to get that last gen. I've been in games where we have managed to do it and everyone escapes but it's not worth a 40min game. There's no satisfaction in it, I'm just tired and have a headache by the end of it and instead of having a planned night of several games I'm too tired after that one game.

Please remember the forum rules regarding encouraging negative behavior; this includes DCing, throwing, or advocating any other such behavior. Thank you for your cooperation!

Even get a 4 man swf or just be force to run a hyper focus tool box build. Most high mmr killers run all regression cause they wanna win. They simply will do anything to achieve it including sacrificing their build freedom. They will run COB & ERUPTION on everyone and everything. While Survivors typically wanna run chase extending stuff like windows cause they wanna loop good. If every survivor just commit to a whole gen rush build the 3 gen will not last. The meta is gen rush vs gen regression yet majority of survivors refuse to run a whole build for it. 4 toolboxes in the lobby isn't enough these days (you need a dedicated build for rushing)
Big difference in mentality....survivors prioritize looping cause it fun compare to sitting on a gen. Killers rather minimize the risk of chasing and prioritize regression cause they wanna Win. Can't blame them.
2 -
Mm.
You said:

If a killer isn't downing people, kicking gens is pointless. Because you'll out repair COB (I'm pretty sure he can't actually damage the gen while you're repairing) and Eruption won't proc unless he's downing people, which - yes - will kill them eventually.
Or if you mean someone who's just taking the game hostage by blasting you off gens as Doctor or something? Because Peanits recently confirmed that this would be bannable, so that's more a 'report the griefer' thing.

Swarm is based, and a fun juicer,, I'd rather go next than play vs a Gen kicking bot
4 -
You can also do it with Knight.
1 -
Every 3gen is made possible by the survs. Every, single, time.
2 -
But a lot of stuff that was busted and took a lot to change was before the new mindset where they announced they were going to monitor changes, perks, powers, maps etc closely after release and change them faster if something busted or underwhelming appeared which they have been doing (to an extent, some things like maps need way more time to change than others) and they have been doing it, some examples are Trickster, Knight, Hadie perks were awful on release and buffed soon after (not enough but still they did look at them).
The mindset on changing stuff is different now but for some reason this perk has eluded it.

I had a match yesterday on Midwich with Spirit who was running at least Eruption and Pain Res - I gave up as loon as both of them first activated - I wasn't even entertaining trying to escape in that scenario lol.
I didn't hang around to see the third and fourth perks, but they were probably a combination of Call of Brine, BBQ or Overcharge.

The sad thing is, it will not be disabled, because it is working as intended. Them being unable to playtest it properly and releasing it in that state is sadly not a reason to disable it (at least for them).
(Like, for real, I am really curious how they playtested Eruption to get it to live in this state. They probably did around 3 games testing the Perk, thought it was good and kinda forgot that it hurts Solos more than SWF (while still being good against SWF) and that there is a difference between dealing with it 3 games or basically every game you play)
2 -
This is so wrong.
The Survivors dont have that much control about a 3-Gen. If the Killer decides to pick a 3-Gen from the start (which is sometimes really easy to defend, e.g. Dead Dawg Saloon or Haddonfield), there is nothing the Survivors can do. Sure, you can say that they can 99 Gens outside of the 3-Gen, but this does not change the fact that you cannot repair the 3-Gens the Killer decides to protect.
11 -
Let's be honest though, they'd be making a mint right now with Pinhead, Nemesis, and Sadako sales. If they address the meta perks or change the synergy of some, they'll probably wind up with alot of angry customers. It feels like every killer I face is running the same build at this stage.
1 -
I find it interesting that some perks are instantly destroyed when the community discovers how broken it is. Boil over and Thana both got buffed to the point the usage spiked, but then got nerfed again within like a week or two.
Maybe it's just that the balance team monitors numbers soon after a balance patch and can make quick adjustments, but things like Eruption didn't bubble to the surface for a month or so after the balance changes.
To be fair, the incapacitation on Eruption isn't nearly as bad if the perk is rare. It's never really been an issue before the perk was giga buffed, and even at 26 seconds it still might be ok if you only saw it once a month. Like blast mine, it'd be more of a 'ha ha, ya got me' and then you don't see it for another month.
But being in every single game is just oppressive.
My only consolation is that the perk usage rate is very high, and BHVR is aware of the feedback. Those are currently two things that at least will get a perk looked into.
1 -
3 survivors with hyper focus and a toolbox can fix the generator in 20 seconds, 1 person should briefly distract the killer so that at the beginning of the game you make 3 generation
so a complaint about the 3rd generation is the same as that the killer will stand afk, and after complaining that he does not have 4k
1 -
This is such a niche situation to cover the entirety of 3 gen situations - it just doesn't work.
Not everyone is going to be going into matches with this build just in case you get a 3 gen and if they did killers could complain about the amount of tool boxes they are using and resort to camping and tunneling - if they're not already.
This would just be a vicious circle. The absolute best solution is to have two sets of two survivors who work on the two generators in the three gen area that are furthest apart to force the killer to constantly move between them. It'll take time, but it works and it's made more effective if someone brings CoH in case the killer gets a hit in.
3 -
this has many solutions, I just gave 1 of the examples showing using the head, you can easily and immediately break the strategy of three generators
But hey we're talking about survivors here recently people were crying that "remember me" encourages camping and should be removed so it's probably easier for people to just cry until something gets fixed instead of starting to learn to resist
2 -
This can’t be done if the killer is defending gens from the start of the match. And if the killer has a brain and remembered the survivors brought toolboxes they’ll break off chase and pressure them off gens.
6 -
I don’t wanna be held hostage. Thank you!
