Whatever Happened To Demogorgon?
You'd think that a 'rare' killer would have a decent kill rate - as the only folks playing best doggo would be pretty experienced on him. But those kill rates...ouch. He's in the lower ranks overall and really struggling at high MMRs. And I'll also admit, when I play Demo post 6.1.0, I'm not doing amazingly either.
And that's weird. Because, on paper, Demo has a decent toolkit and some fun addons.
Is it because, as a gap closer, shred is insanely punishing? Did it maybe not get the buff to recovery that other killers got?
Or am I missing something.

Transferable skills from playing against Wesker on the survivor end? I imagine people have gotten a lot more practice at dodging those sort of lunges. And Demo loses out because he only has the one, and map traversal rather than slowdown.

Demo has one of the most telegraphed moves in the entire game, is easily dodgeable, and doesn't even insta-down.
You think a high MMR survivor is gonna struggle against that?

Yeah Demo just isn't that good the portals are slow and clunky the stealth might as well not be there and shred is okay I guess? You can break pallets easily enough but you're still forced to loop which is basically a death sentence unless you're an expert at the killer you're playing. But tl;dr there is nothing demo does that another killer doesn't do better.
Wesker has a better lunge.
Dredge has a better teleport
Every stealth killer has better stealth
Demo is basically a bunch of good abilities done poorly and it doesn't add up to much. They were good once but Demo is suffering the Myers treatment and is basically just outdated.

I agree against high MMR or anyone with a brain he will faulter l....but don't count him out he has some good addons that make his portals better

I'm convinced there's a Demo-specific bug with matchmaking. I always get the most ridiculously sweaty games with him despite not playing him that often then. Then I switch to Nurse who I win over 90% of my games with and I get lemmings. It has been this way since they turned MMR on. Demo has always given me insanely sweaty games.

I personally tend to believe that Demo mains aren't very hardcore DBD gamers and are mostly in it for the Stranger Things aspect so they aren't creme of the creme. I did come across one basement make your choice tunneler Demo and one godly one in the last week alone. Neither matches were fun, so there are definitely monsters out there dominating the field with their Demos, but I do admit I'm usually not frustrated when I see one in SoloQ.

I play Demo on occasion and am pretty average. For me it's just that I don't really put the hours in. If I played more often and took it alot more seriously I'd probably do a lot better.

Whenever i play demo i find his portals to be way too underwhelming, take too long to setup, the travel time is too long and they can be removed way too fast even with add-ons. Just not a killer that i feel is particularly impactful.

You know...I actually wonder if this might be the case.

New DH absolutely creams his shred. You basically can’t use your M2 when they’re injured.

He's kind of a modern Myers to me.
Both were considered the epitome of what a perfectly balanced Killer should be on release. The baseline that all Killers should be brought up to. They've simply aged as the meta has shifted. Both are still fan favorites despite being slightly below average or weak.

Demogorgan is fine, fun to play. But I miss having him in the game. I hope he comes back so I can buy him on my PC account and get them the collar cosmetics as well.
I feel like no one really plays Demogorgan anymore since people have kind of moved on. Youd think with the ability to teleport he'd be amazing in the Eruption meta but no one wants to manage his Portals to do so, there are just many Killers that can do what Demogorgan does but with less effort unfortunately.

Really good way of putting it actually.
And you can actually pinpoint the things that make Wesker the better version of Demo specifically for the new meta. Slowdown and flexibility in chase.

The others have said it better than I could, but I wanted to add that his stealth is just ridiculous.. Sure, they're Oblivious but here comes the Demogorgon who apparently weighs 16 tons with his stealthy "STOMP STOMP STOMP".
Seriously, his footfalls are louder than a truck. BHVR while you're going over normalising survivor sound levels how about giving our boy Demo a break?
2 -
Correct.
He's the modern Demogorgon, who itself was a mash-up of many different Killers. Whereas Demogorgon's biggest failure and strength was being a jack of all trades, master of none; Wesker succeeds in being well-rounded and a master of chase.

I wouldn't really say this is the case, a lot of people seem to forget that you can charge Shred without slowing down, and using it to bait DH is about as simple as baiting it with m1s, just charge it, wait for the animation, then swing
At the very least, I've rarely been caught out by DH whenever i pick up Demo and the few times i have is when i was going for obvious one's from long range rather then baiting it up close

And the fact that you can’t go for far away shreds is precisely why it’s a huge problem for him. In general, the fact that you can’t “bait” DH out unless you’re right on their ass is precisely why that perk is still considered a problem.

New DH basically ruins every killer with a range attack for us console gamers except Slinger and even then people just hold W in the opposite direction as soon as they hear your giant TR. You'll take an eternity to get in range

Demo can be fun, stuff like Make Your Choice and Deviur Hope can give em a fun edge but if you play against any decent group of Survivors, you're gonna have a bad time. I've been playing more Survivor recently and every Demo I faced did alright but they had little pressure, chases rarely went well for them and not too much snowball potential unless you get insta down status. I think the bests thing Demo has for him are Exit Gate standoffs lol...and that's only if you get down to 1 Survivor left alive.
He isn't bad...just middle of the road or low middle and gets overshadowed by other Killers and has more work to do against better Survivors and Survivor teams.

Remove dead hard and coh and I will play him everyday.
