Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Can we please get legendary items in DBD? For example: an ultra rare toolbox with 3 addon slots.

I think it would be really fun if we could get legendary items in this game. They would be extremely rare but really fun to use. They might be something found hidden on the map or in treasure chests like once every 10 games or so.  They could be called Entity Tainted Items, or just blighted items. What do you think?

4 toolboxes + built to last is -240 repair time, are you sure you want the generators to start even faster?

    I remind you the total time is now 450, ( 1 gen 90, 5 -450 )

toolboxes allow you to repair the generator twice as fast

if it's even more it'll just kill the killers

Just powercreep by adding more slots for stat-stick addons?

    No.

Instead think of how Alex’s Toolbox is specialized for a particular use with a detriment elsewhere. That’s what I would do.

A flashlight that cannot stun the Killer, but applies the Blindness debuff from any angle as long as it’s shown on the Killer for a short duration.

A medkit that cannot be used to heal yourself, but (nearly) instantly heals another Survivor for a Health State.

A map that shows the Aura of all Chests at all times and grants increased rarity of Items found but cannot be used to Track Objectives.

A key that shows the Aura of nearby Survivors at all times without the need to channel.

You could then make these Items only obtainable through converting at the Shrine of Sacrifice in The Basement:

Any med-kit with a Syringe can be converted to the Odd Splint at the Basement Hook.

Any flashlight with double bulb attachments can be converted at the Shrine to become the Encompassing Glare.

Any Map with the Map Addendum and Red Twine can be converted to the Plunderers Note

Any key with the Gold Token and Unique Wedding Ring can be converted to the Bloodied Key Ring

Any Toolbox with a Hacksaw and Gloves can be converted to Alex’s Toolbox at the Shrine of Sacrifice.

All conversions disregard charges and the resultant converted Item will have full charges. In effect this can be used to gain additional charges.

No, because then killers would have to have 3 addon slots to compensate

The killer could find legendary items as well to compensate. I never suggested the legendary items be just for survivors. Also, if they existed they would have to be incredibly rare or almost unique. So survivors wouldn't just be bringing them or stacking them every game. But they could be a way to add things to the game that are really fun but perhaps too powerful for a regular addon or item.

No thanks, sounds like a balance nightmare.

I think it opens up a lot of interesting possiblities.

For killer: a legendary salve that blinds the survivor instead of the killer when a flashlight is used.

Survivor: an amulet that allows a survivor to teleport once per game but not while in the killers terror radius.

The question is how rare they would have to be, and also they couldn't be too powerful. The idea would be that they would be really fun and legendary and epic.

Every addon would have to be retooled to compensate for having 3 add-on slots, or they would be insanely broken.

Imagine power-healing, or power-repairing. Sub-5-minute games turn into sub-3-minutes. No.

AssortedSorting I do think it would be really cool if you could convert items in the shrine. I also like the idea of a really good medkit that would work on other survivors but not on yourself. That would really fit the criterion for a legendary item, which is powerful but may even have serious limitations.

One of the reasons I thought up this thread is because I have so much fun when we have side missions in the game like when we did the void energy generators. I thought it would be really cool to search spawn points or treasure chests in a treasure hunt for something legendary. It may only occur once every 10 or 20 games that you would even find something legendary. They also would have to be finely tuned so as not to be lore breaking or too unfair.

People would still be able to play long enough to collect enough of them to run every game. So you've just given survivors a major permanent buff.

A better way to 'spice up' the gameplay would be adding a new item class, and maybe merging Keys and Maps into one item class so that they can become more useful.

Seraphor, if that is the case, legendary items would have to show up perhaps only once every 100 games. Also, killers would be able to find legendary items too. They are not just for survivors. It is just an idea I had to mix it up and make the game more exciting instead of finding the same brown toolbox game after game, there would be hope for something epic. Plus I dont think they should show up in the bloodweb. You would actually have to search for them. So they would be like a tertiary objective.

How do you enforce "once every 100 games"?

It only shows up on Bloodweb 50 at Prestige 50 and that's the only time you will ever get a chance of getting one?

If it's even as common as once every 50 Bloodwebs, you will still see it every 2 or 3 games at a high level. I did an experiment trying to see how many Scratched Mirrors and Indoor Map Offerings I could get for a Mirror Myers build. In 100 bloodwebs I got 4 Scratched Mirrors and 3 indoor maps. But that only took me about 10 games worth of BP.

For it to be "once every 100 games", it would need to be once every 20 Prestiges at the very least.

If it is as rare as you want it to be, how effective would it have to be? You're using your one and only Legendary Item, and you won't get another one for "100 games" so it has to win you the game right?

So what about the other side? You find out your opponent had a Legendary Item, so you didn't stand a chance, so what was the point in playing?

@AssortedSorting, I dont think legendary items should show up in bloodwebs. You should have to find them in game.

Also, I think we have established in this thread that legendary items should not be super OP, but rather something fun or interesting to use to make the gameplay more enjoyable.

So something more like event items outside of events.

Flashlights with a different shaped beam, Medkits that give you a speed boost, Toolboxes with fireworks, Firecrackers.

Yes, I think it would be really fun. But only if so exceedingly rare so as to make it really joyful when you find one of thesequirky items.

I was thinking of a void energy detector that shows the killers , or survivors aura for 3 seconds.

In fact it could be a legendary map which shows you how to find Maurice the Horse.

Which is why I added the possibility of making them only obtainable through conversion in The Basement. (I think the Four Hooks are called the Shrine of Sacrifice?)

Bring the right combination of Items, take them to the basement, confer with the eldritch energies of the Shrine of Sacrifice and it eats your equipped Item and plops a tainted item on the ground.

I don’t think the effects I suggested are too powerful, considering the time needed to actually go to the basement and the addon requirement limiting what you can do with those Items before hand. (Albeit the key ring should be changed such that you cannot channel with it, it just passively shows nearby Survivor Auras)

And the challenge would be to try to escape the Trial to keep the Item. (Or take advantage of how the White Ward works)

That's actually a great idea. Make this item be something you can only get a few during a once a year event (anniversary).

And during the event killers can get a legendary 3 addon unlock they can use every game (even after the event is over).

I'd like to see rare af add-ons like a legendary probe that shocks & incapacitates a surv when they drop a pre-charged pallet or whatever. Or for my beloved Piggy maybe an rare af add-on that vibrates the active headtraps, causing sway much like Boil Over does.

Make such thing super duper rare, or majorly rare during an event, as need be. But lots of opportunities here.
