Nothing is being done about DCs
Before the penalty was 5 minutes, now it's 1 for the first DC of the day.
As killer, the game is boring as hell when someone DCs or kills himself on the hook against a good killer. They will tbag at the exit if the killer is weak and got 2 hooks all game.
As survivor, if someone DCs, the team is screwed. If the killer DCs, the game is over immediately.
From now on, I'm handling DCs and early "I kill myself on the hook" situations like this:
- as survivor, I'm just giving the kill to the killer and move on;
- as killer, I'll just give the free escape to the remaining survivors.
All I ask for is a normal game, 4v1

Tbf it's kinda funny, I swear if I get a good snipe on a survivor early on the match or doen them quick, they will 80% DC, however I have noticed that when I do not do so well at the start no one DCs, my personal interpretation:
The killer being decently good is "unfun" and ruins survivor matches. Mind you I play addonless non meta slinger, I am literally handing out free 4 man escapes, people still DC lmao.

Did they switch that back on? I know that for a weekend ages ago they did that because hackers were particularly bad and holding them hostage but it literally only lasted a weekend and then they got DC penalties again.

Yeah. I mean, DCs have been a problem since Day One, and they've tried a number of strategies to deal with it. But I think there's really nothing beyond what they've done that would be effective in any honest way. If someone is so thin-skinned that they feel the need to DC whenever a match is not turning out the way they had hoped, then I would humbly suggest that DBD is not the right game for them. We can't control what others do; we can only control our reaction to it.
For myself?:
-If the Killer DCs, the remaining Survivors and myself all get BP, maybe a pip depending on when the DC happened, and we move on to the next match. Bully for us! Not so much for the Killer.
-If I'm playing Killer, and a Survivor DCs or suicides prior to one gen being started, I will back off a bit and let the Survivors try to recover from that DC. If two DC or suicide before 2 gens get started, I seek the Survivors out and try to make it clear to them that we are now farming, assuming they would like to do so, and then I will let them go once I have my hits and hooks, etc. Of course, my 'Bad Survivor' policy is always in force. If the remaining Survivors are going to be sweaty, exploitative and toxic even in the face of a DC/Suicide, then my level of empathy immediately resets to zero.

They can't really turn the DC penalty up too high, or else actual disconnect situations punish the player. As frustrating as rage quitting can be, BHVR has to consider this scenario too when designing penalties.
I feel like a lot of these 'first down I quit' scenarios are a symptom of tunneling being too strong.
There are a strangely high number of games where the first player is sacrificed in the first 3-4 hooks of the game. It puts a lot of pressure on the first chase going reasonably well for survivors. A fast first down sends the message that you're the weak link and key to an easy win.
That first player killed in that scenario gets, what, 5k BP tops, a depip, and they don't get to play the game. If they stick around they get to be a good person and teammate... which they could also do if they got to play the game. Even if they recognize that it's time to take a break after a couple tilting games in a row, they've already decided to stop playing for a while, and a 12 hour timeout isn't going to slow them down.

If BHVR wants people not to DC they have to fix their game. They won't do that so...

This is the majority of my games. I'm talking 75%+. Killer didn't even have perks or add-ons. Doesn't matter.
BHVR, ya'll need to address the quitters. HUD icons ain't gonna change anything.
How about we stop pumping out DLC and actually address the core issues? I'm not spending another dime 'til something is done.

Seven games this morning. I had two normal games and every single other game had at least one DC/hook suicide/AFK. No camping. No tunneling. No slugging. Oni, Clown, and Billy for killers. One match I didn't even down someone. I injured one person that was in a duo, injured someone else that wasn't, and then the duo DC'd. My last match they just wanted to farm. I DC'd and closed the game, which was only the second time in almost a thousand hours that I've intentionally done so, and the last time was for the same reason.
Why play if I can't even get half of my games to be just normal games? Win or lose. I've had my butt handed to me on a silver platter, been BM'd ferociously by killers and survivors alike, and I can shrug it off. But not even being able to try to play a normal game because someone wants to throw a fit in the first 60 seconds of every match makes it so there is no point to loading up the game.

No.
The game has issues, but if those issues are so vexing to you that you routinely DC, just don't queue up at all. Don't punish other players who are dealing with the same BS but who aren't giant diaper babies, because that's what DCing does, it punishes your teammates, not BHVR.
Two legit excuses for a DC:
- Obvious hackers
- Some kind of bug/glitch (like getting stuck in the environment, not being able to move, etc.)
That's it. If you can't help but DC on the regular, find something else to play.
This is true to a degree. No one should have the hammer dropped on them because their internet dropped.
On the other hand, if someone's internet is bugging out and they keep queuing up, getting booted, and queuing up again, that's on the player. Personally, If I get kicked more than once or twice in a single play session, I stop playing, because something isn't right.
I would propose a system that escalates the length of bans dramatically after the first few (assuming the first 2-3 may be technical issues). Like a minute for the first, 2 minutes for the second, 5 minutes for the third (accompanied by a warning), then a full day time out for the fourth.
And also if you have a player who DCs multiple times every play session over the course of weeks/months, really heavy bans should be on the table. Days/weeks up to permaban. People who think it's cool to DC whenever thing aren't going their way should be marginalized, because they really ruin the experience for other people.
And yeah, some people have generally crap internet, but there's really not much you can do for that, and you can't balance the system around people playing from the moon. If someone's internet just can't handle it, they should stop trying. That sounds harsh, but reality is reality, and continually trying to pound a square peg though a round hole isn't the way, and it isn't fair to others.
But let's be real, the vast majority of disconnections are just players being babies. We all know the most common scenarios, DC after the first quick down (the king), DC right after being hooked, DC after an embarrassing misplay.
It's soooooo tired.

In a 4v1 game where both sides have egos the size of freight cariers, what can they do without causing one side to scream unfair?
The game is designed around least resistance to the player. This give the player freedom to play how they want which will result in some undesirable outcomes.
