Just ran into my first hacker

So, I was playing killer, and this person is literally flying through the air, even when I downed them several times; recovered in the air, flashlighted me from the air, etc.

Wasn't ALWAYS in the air, and I managed to hook them once, only for them to unhook themselves right in front of my face and fly through the air again.

This was incredibly frustrating. And after it was over, he was "gg ez" and "git gud" etc. and he's just that good.

And apparently I cant even name the person

I reported it in game, but does that even do anything? Do I have any other recourse?

You can submit a report directly to BHVR. Best to take a clip to use as evidence. Then it gets reviewed by the staff. Also I would edit your post to remove their in game name. Most forums have rules against naming and shaming. (Even if you are convinced rightly that they were in fact cheating)

That seems wrong. I mean, they hack, and I cant name them?

Sadly, I dont record my game. I dont think many people do. That makes reporting this really difficult to do.

Well something to remember in future if you spot another cheater.

And remember they have to go by the lowest common denominator. Sure you're convinced, probably rightly that this guy was a hacker. But what's to stop someone coming on the forum and dragging innocent people's names through the mud with false accusations of cheating, racism or harassment just because they don't like them or they beat them in a game. Then said innocent person gets hatemail, bullied in game etc all because one hateful little troll had a grudge. People do pathetic ######### like that. It's a blanket rule to protect people from cyber bullying.

ok, I guess you have a point. But does their game gather data? I mean, I reported in game, I can report what I saw, but most people dont record their game. Am I going to have to start just to catch what might be the second hacker i'd ever run into?

Basically yh. Idk how effective the in game report tool is. I'd imagine not very effective at all. Not 100% sure but I'm sure their game does not record match info/logs. Like I say unfortunately just gotta let this one go and now you know for next time. Clip it and then send it to BHVR so they can nail their butts to the wall. 👍

And like I said best to edit that post. A mod can still take action against you if you leave that gamer name up.

hm. I could record with playstation easily enough, but I've never done it on the PC; whats the easiest way to set it up? Any ideas?

Not a clue for PC unfortunately. I only play console. Just hit my xbox record button lol. Sorry I can't be more help.

If you have an AMD GPU, then you can set up recording with Radeon Software. You don't have to have it forever, just turn it on to grab a clip of obvious cheating and then you can turn it off.

Most hackers start the match without being obvious, until eventually the decide to make it blatant. You can just keep following them and then stop moving, so they think you gave up. This is usually when they decide to start taunting by running super fast or auto blinding you.

I use this time to turn on my recording just to grab the clip for a report. The devs need you to file an ingame report so they know what match is in question. This gets around anonymous mode and playing on an Epic Games key as well.

I suggest you get OBS ready to record your matches and upload them to youtube.

After having reported the cheater in game, upload the video, add the timestamps in the video description and fill the following form:

EDIT: weird, the URI wasn't posted. I see Rizzo has posted it below so I'll leave it at that.

Create an account and login (so you can track the issues) then go back to the page.

    Select "Dead by Daylight"

Put your player ID (e.g. steam ID 64)

Fill the other fields and put a link to the video in the description of the issue.

Contrary to what some say, BHVR most certainly handle these issues.

You can use softwares related to your GPU, as @ExcelSword suggested AMD has the Radeon software you can setup to record your games, same thing for Nvidia that uses Shadowplay.

They are pretty easy to setup, they record in the background and you can record clips just pressing a button.

Regarding the reporting process, as others already mentioned, you need to first report in game, which flags the match for Support, then open a ticket on their website (https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/categories/6713776396180-Dead-by-Daylight) giving all the information needed and the evidence you recorded (if your file is too big to be attached, simply upload it to Youtube as unlisted and post the link in the ticket's description).
