How many hours have you played Dead By Daylight? How does it compare to other games you play?
I have over 2000 hours in DBD if you count pc and console. That is probably more hours than my next 10 most played games combined. When I first learned about DBD I played exclusively single player games. I played mostly games like Assassins Creed Black Flag, Metal Gear Solid, Hitman, Fallout 4, Uncharted, Watchdogs, Wildlands, etc. But in terms of convenience and replay-ability I think DBD far exceeds all of them. I have always gravitated towards stealth games and playing DBD is like being able to play 'Hide n Seek' whenever I feel like it. It is almost perfection wrapped up in a game. What about you? Are there any other games you play that compare to how much time you play Dead by Daylight?

Yes I agree. There is something about being able to play a quick game of DBD with other real humans versus a single player game that really lends itself to replay-ability. It is not necessarily better. Just perhaps more conducive to playing a lot.

I have played Monster Hunter World and Dark Souls 1-3 more overall but DBD will catch up since those other games don't have new content and I play them much less now. Those games are better overall and more consistently fun than DBD, but DBD has more randomness that keeps me coming back.

4089 according to Steam. I think I have ~2000 hrs in FF14. I sunk hundreds if not thousands of hours into Everquest many, many years ago (dating myself a bit).

Interesting. So it seems like online games are able to keep people coming back for more, especially versus solo player. I suspected that might be the case. Although if an open world game is immersive enough, I can usually play for hundreds of hours. I don't find too many I would imagine I could play for like 2000 hours. But most single player games don't update constantly with new content like DBD, Overwatch, or Final Fantasy IV.

I think I’m a little over 9,000 now. I’ve probably got close to that in WoW over many years. Not much into anything else. Dbd kept my attention more than other games.

I am the opposite of most everyone here it seems. I came from exclusively single player game campaigns pretty much, without ever playing online games, and now play tons of DBD. But I still go back to my old single player favorites, and play the latest single player games, but in terms of hours it just doesn't compare to DBD.

8068 hours according to Steam. I think I played World of Tanks more than DBD (playing World of Tanks since 2012, with breaks), but if I make a rough estimate (battles x average time in a game), I get a smaller value. So DBD is probably my most played game.
Other than that, The Binding of Isaac Rebirth with 1140 hours, Binding of Isaac (original) 400 hours. And the rest is only a bit over 100 (stuff like Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1/2/3, Code Vein...).
Even tho, a Browsergame I played for a very long time might be my most played game, but impossible to find out how many hours I spent on that.

@Aven_Fallen that seems to be about my experience with single player games from 100 to 400 hours seems to be about the range. They don't dont usually have the constant updates like multiplayer games to sustain thousands of hours. Although I do know many people with thousands of hours in Skyrim and Fallout 4. But those games are the exeptions.

I have around 7500-8000hrs on DBD and I think a good example of a game that’s comparable I used to play on Xbox before I switched to PC was Gears of War. In gears of war if you wanted to elevate and take your skills to the next level you needed to learn how to do something called wall bouncing where you’re hip firing with your shotgun all while looking around and sliding from all to wall at the same time hence why an Xbox elite controller was the best for this cause it had a paddle on the back that you could button map your slide button to make my it easier to control and look around at the same time.
This has inspired me to play Blight! Learning how to use proper bump logic, hug tech, and flick properly to hit really skilled survivors around pallet loops requires you to take it to the next level..

I wish some of my favorite single player games would have released updates as frequently as DBD. I could play some of them forever like Assassins Creed Black Flag.

I should say I also played a lot of single player horroresque games like Outlast, Dishonored, Prey or Evil Within. Which are amazing, but they usually only last like 30 hours or less. Not even comparable to DBD in replay value.

Eh. GTA V had already been out for eighteen months by the time it released on PC, which was more than enough time for me to binge both the Story mode and Online in that game to the point where it was unnecessary to do it again on PC.
Not that that stopped me, as I did it anyway. But it definitely does mean the hour count there would be a lot higher if it counted my original Xbox 360 copy lol.

That makes sense SuperYoshi. But still DBD manages to hold its own against GTA V. It is amazing how DBD keeps drawing us in to play more. The gameplay is not all that varied. Yet there is something about it that I find it quite exhilarating compared to other games.

Majority of my games are on Steam that i play, here are my top 10.
- 1. Dota 2 - 2579 hours
- 2. DBD - 2361 hours
- 3. Rust - 826 hours
- 4. Final Fantasy VII - 522 hours (this one is actually probably much higher if you count all of the times i have played it on other platforms, i'd guess its actually around 3k hours total, i also casually speed run the game.)
- 5. CS:GO - 377 hours (Somehow my hours in this got reset a long time ago, but in reality i'ts probably closer to 1k hours
- 6. No Man's sky - 249 hours
- 7. Stardew Valley - 198 Hours
- 8. Factorio - 197 Hours
- 9. Halo Infinite - 178 Hours
- 10. Civilization V - 165 hours
1 Game that is not listed on here, due to it not being on steam. is by far way more hours, because i have replayed the game to completion probably at least once a year for 20 years is Final Fantasy tactics, i also did a ton of modding and played tons of mods for it back in the day, so i'd guess this game i have around 1-2k hours.
Also my entire childhood was spent playing WoW and Quake, so easily 10k+ hours on both of those.
I think comparing DBD to single player games is probably unfair though, as most of the time (with rare exceptions, like replayability, or people who do speedrunning) they are meant to be played once through for 20-100 hours (depending on game) whereas DBD is a live service game. More fair comparisons are probably things like CS:GO, COD, WoW etc.

i’ve got around 4k on DBD split between console and PC. 1k on blight.
I’ve probably put the same or more into WoW over more than a decade of playing with many long breaks. Lots of hours into the Diablo series & elder scrolls games.

Thanks everyone. I love the input. It is so intriguing seeing what other games fellow dbd players have played. It is still interesting how single player games cannot compare in terms of hours played. I wonder if it is because people like interacting with real humans in online games, or the story basically ends and there is nothing left to do in single player games, or online games are more fun, or they just get more updates. For instance I have some single player games which I love, and they have amazing stories. But all things considered, I still play so much more Dead by Daylight.

That's not much by DbD standards, but that's quite a bit more than most games I play, since the games I enjoy most tend to be indie solo games that take around 10 to 20 hours to complete.
That's around what I have on Hollow Knight though !
I'm not a big player though, I have other time-consuming interests (namely, animation) that prevent me from playing video games as much as I'd like. I think beyond HK and DbD, my most played games are Darkest Dungeon, Borderlands 2 and Don't Starve Together, all at around 160h. =D

@HugTheHag You are like me. I am almost exclusively a single player game person, except for dbd. Some others in the comment section have listed games that rival or exceed DBD, but those are all multi-player games.

I have 1750 hours I believe. This is by far my most played game, I don’t even really play any other video games aside from the occasional game on the switch, so my next closest game would be like Animal Crossing at 150 hours. When I was a lil kid I played the ######### out of Goldeneye and WWF: No Mercy but there was no way to track hours back then.

The consoles never let you check but if you are like the rest of us you probably have at least a thousand plus. For example, on steam, if I had to guess I would think my DBD playtime was around 600 but in reality it is like 2000 lol

I assume it is definitely in the thousands but I am interested to see the exact number. It may shock me lol. I also have a good chunk of time on my brother's profile as well.

DBD isn't close to my most played games at roughly 400 hours. I am 41 and my most played game of all time is Tetris. I've been playing Tetris for 30 years and out of all the games I have played over the years: the Starcrafts, the Homeworlds, the Command & Conquers, Mario games, Ratchet and Clanks, and all the other games I've played on PC, on Gameboy, on NES, on SNES, on N64, on PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5 Tetris is still my most favorite game in the world. I have racked up 10s of 1000s of hours for it and it never gets old.
Other games I have a 1000+ hours in are StarCraft: BroodWar, Homeworld 2, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy X, Ghost Recon-franchise, Guild Wars 1 and 2, Warthunder, Super Bomberman, Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition, the various Need For Speed-games all put together.

About 2k hours in DBD. - That's within a little over a year tho.
I usually play one game somewhat excessively for a long time.
Warframe, with about 6k hours (since late 2014) was the one before dbd.
Anno 1602 is where I always find my way back to --- first game I ever played on a computer. Couldn't even read when I first played. Over the course of 20+ years I must have racked up a couple thousand hours.
In middle school there was a ftp MMO that I probs sunk 2-3k hours into over ~2 years.
Both Sims 3 and Sims 4 probably have 1.5-2k hours.

It is really cool that everyone has their own unique style of games they like to play besides DBD. It is not all horror or necessarily even a similar genre. I would never imagine such varied games.
Somehow, I never really like to finish most of my favorite games. I feel like I would be really sad if they ended. If they are open world, I just play them and avoid the final quest or do endless side missions or restart over before triggering the final mission.
But no game even comes close to my time commitment as DBD. One of the things I like about it is that it is almost like an olympic sport in some ways. You can compare yourself to another real person in terms of how well you loop, or how well you 4k survivors. There are actual metrics to compare as opposed to some single player games.

I've played almost twice as much DBD as every other game I've played on steam combined. Almost at 8k hours now. My second most played game on steam is CS:GO at 1800hrs.

Over 12,000 hours in dead by daylight across multiple platforms.
Easily my most played single game.
I play a lot of games though & probably have dozens well over 1,000 hours & hundreds that are over 100 hours of play time.
As a series I'd guess Zelda is my most played game as a franchise well over 25,000 hours I would guess of course I've been playing it most of my life too

I have about 1800h in the game and it's by far my most played game. I think my seconds most played game is osu! with about 800h and Rocket League and Paladins with about 600h.

I'm at about 350, like a few others I started in August.
I don't have statistics but I wouldn't surprised if my most played games were Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, and/or Zelda. Because back in the day you might have two games and you better well like them :). My memories of the NES are a little vague now, but I know when my brother and I bought the SNES Super Mario World was the only game we had for about 3 months and it got a lot of play.
College was Diablo 2 and Rogue Spear. Goldeneye and Starcraft also way up there.
In terms of Steam I have a few games in similar territory: Dark Souls 2 and 3 as single players game in the 300 hours range each, for strategy games I have Civ 6 (600), Total War: Shogun 2 (600), Darkest Dungeon (350), Dungeon of the Endless (400), for multiplayer games I have Vermintide 2 (300 - a lot of that single player), and Paladins (600)
Though if I was just going off steam record it would be Civ 5 (1100) and the Sims 3 (350), but that is because my wife also played those games so that's really two people.
In terms of games I've played for the longest time though: Dawn of War: Soulstorm. While Steam says I only have 400 hours in it, I started playing the game back in 2005 and have played it off and on since then.

Generally multiplayer games will see a lot more play. Involving other humans has a social aspect, but it also keeps the game unique. Like I really loved the Batman Arkham series, but I only have a couple dozen hours in each game. Single player games are like a movie, the first time can be great, but it's never going to be better than the first play through (perhaps the only exception that comes to mind is the original Deus Ex). Multiplayer games frequently get better the more you get into the game.
This is, not surprisingly, why so many companies are trying to monetize it.
Strategy games are perhaps the next closest comparison if they appeal to the player. They frequently have a lot of variety in tactics and the difficulty slider means you can make the game feel fresh once you get good at it.
Simulator games (ala The Sims) also see people in their communities play into the thousands of hours.
