Why would BHVR do this?

They made it so that solo survivors can be just as coordinated as swf? Why would they do this?

There's no surprise or real life element now because survivor can "always" know what another survivor is doing because of the icons.

Why does the survivor experience need it's hand to be held I don't understand! That's the problem with these new games today they're dumbed down!

Geeze DBD was fine until this happened? It's really too bad the game has gotten like this..

I got it! Survivor has gained the psychic ability and are telepathic!

Thats the only way I can make sense of this! It's absolutely crazy!

Kindred, Wake Up? Who cares survivors are psychic now so who needs aura reading?

    Smh!

Its like being in a swf, it doesnt make you Mr. Amazing I think some people just hit the high end mmr and got slapped back down to where they are supposed to be. No shame Imp not high level either.

From my mostly killer perspective, this just allows the game to become more balanced in the future.

  • fulltonon
    fulltonon Member Posts: 5,762

Why? because game should have baseline to balance against, it was always strange to have so big of an advantage for something already so strong.

The change was to make solo queue more bearable and that's exactly what it did. The icons don't make players play better, bad survivors are still gonna be bad survivors. The information is not even on par with SWF, it just gives the basics.

It also makes balancing the game a lot easier since the gap between solo gameplay and SWF gameplay has decreased a bit, meaning killer's base gameplay and weaker killers could get buffs in the future.

I doubt it's minor in any way at all, this is significant, just not simple or direct.

They will eventually buff the killer experience again (like they did last year), once they feel comfortable with the Solo Q experience being more aligned with SWF’s. Yes, it may appear to be harder at first- but we’ll adapt in the interim. A new killer meta may even be produced as a result of this. Eruption will still be King though, as the go to perk to deliver harsh blows to Solo Q.

The simplest answer: It is insanely hard to successfully balance a triangle on a needle.

They need to eliminate on of the 3 sides to creat a scale that is easier to balance (which is still hard in an asymmetrical environment).

And you can't neither take away the killer side (duh) nor can they really do anything against third party voice programs or people playing in prematched groups.

So the ONLY option left is to equalize survivor across solo and 2/3/4 people swf as much as possible.

The tricky part is, with bhvrs balancing methods of tweaking one side, waiting, observing and only after that doing something for the other side, which might take months, that if they manage to bring all survivor to a swf playing field but leave killer hanging for too long they might kill their game in the process.

You guys may like it and think it's "balancing" the game meanwhile I'm in reality and the reality is that its help solos don't need, it's like a crutch!

I absolutely do not agree with what is said in this thread for the most part. I stand by what I say the hud icon thing is dumb and takes away the surprise core element of the game! You know even though it's asymmetrical "horror"! You people aren't even trying to make sense of why survivors can suddenly get extra info in the first place. Want to know if a survivor is on a gen or if they're healing, make full screen aura reading perks I dunno

You guys can't tell me how I should be enjoying a game "I" pay for by spending $$. There should be an option for it to be turned on or off at least!

Actually CoconutRTS made a video talking about the perspectives of players from the Japanese community. Some of them also think it’s too much “handholding” and might dissuade players from wanting to play Killer in the long run.

You do have a valid opinion, just that you might be sharing it in the wrong community.

so can someone tell me why does this work in a group game? so if i duo with my friend why can we see gen progress? If this is suppose to only improve soloQ experience? Im suppose to use discord and do call outs right? i dont benefit from this?

So speaking and communicating information is the same as accurately showing precise information?( guys do you actually have friends who play games? are your comms clean and precise?)

this is like clearly one of the dumbest changes out of all. But in all honesty seeing how people receive it is even more idiotic bizzare.

So right now a bad swf that just fuks around now has perfect info that makes them stronger, every average swf is now stronger too. High level competitive players can reduce mental stack and call more important things since now they dont have to focus on the gen progress. So how does this improve the soloQ experience? are talking about the bad survivors that you call might aswell be killers, will now suddenly know how to utilize a power like information? you think bad players use information well?

This is a buff to ALL survivors straight across the board, if you are trying to hide behind the idea that it helps the SOLOQ player ur delusional in every sense. IF soloQ players power is 20 it went to 33 and a SWF's player went from 33 to 41. Sure the soloq player got more of a buff but that literally means nothing if every bad swf got stronger. Most killers that are not A A+ tier already struggle even against people who screw around in swfs. Now even bad swfs can eliminate some of the worse killers.

Power creep,Buffing across the board. Koreans are 100% right this change literally just screws killers. This is mega counter productive hiding behind the problem of "breaching the soloq vs swf" and people just eat this up like its good. okay dude.

Survivor main here, I feel this post so much. This update sucked the horror and helplessness out of the game. Like you said no need for emote communication at all, the sidebar tells it all, its pathetic. Looks like I might have to move on to something similar with actual Horror elements, I mean I loved that the game wasn't always drop in and know what is happening everywhere but now its just meh. Might as well play Demolition or Search and Destroy on MW2 if I want Horror elements LMAO

Sadly that's not how multiplayer games work.

No matter how much money you spend on them, they aren't tailored to your personal needs but the masses and you have to uphold the general code of conduct.

If that's not to your liking then you may have spend the money on the wrong type of game.

yes it is, killers stomp solo queue still, and in return get stomped by swf. But you ignoring one factor in favor of another doesnt show you the picture.

  • HugTheHag
    HugTheHag Member Posts: 3,140

It might be awkward for a while, but it's to make future balance nerfs/buffs easier.

Hopefully the buffs to killer that will undoubtedly follow will be killer-specific to address their own issues and not "here's a bulk buff to killer in general that will not actually help lower tier killers"

  • DBDVulture
    DBDVulture Member Posts: 2,437

They buffed solo survivors because they lack the stones to do what is necessary: limit SWF in a way that is fair.

All you need to do is make SWF not be allowed to repeat : perks/items/characters/offerings. Lock everything but appearance when they are in queue.

Now SWF has a tradeoff where it does some things better and others worse.

What this patch did was make Two man SWF teams even more efficient. That's not really fair to killers (other than Blight/Nurse).

  • I agree with you.

I think the fun of solo queueing is in guessing who is doing what and where.

BHVR did not buff the killer experience last year. They only gave killer uninspired generic number buffs to raise their kill rate. Killers aren’t saying “playing killer FEELS BETTER” after they got slightly faster kicking speed”. Killers aren’t saying “playing killer FEELS BETTER” after they got slightly faster weapon recovery time.

Nothing BHVR did actually made killers feel better to play. In fact, we’ve gotten absolute zero input from BHVR that they care about the killer experience at all. They might give killers generic buffs to fix their kill rate, but at no point at all have they discussed with us if they ever plan on making quality of life changes for killers.

Yeah because swf are inherently cheating in a 4 vs 1 by telling eachother information over the various voice comm systems freely available that they shouldn't have any access to at all for any reason, BHVR managed to make it worse by giving the exact same bs to solo queue so that all 4 survivors at all times ever knows exactly what the singular killer is doing simply by glancing at the status icons.

A masterclass in messing up your own game by BHVR.

Same here...DBD won't be the same for me after this and while I won't be playing FT13th I guess I have to find something to fit the horror experience that I'm looking for.

I will be playing this game way less and it sucks bc as a killer main I also like survivor it's just that if something were on the line I'd play killer but now it's just crap. Just yesterday I went on a 3 or 4 losing streak and that has never happened to me before...

It's happening bc not only am I getting out on bad maps constantly I now have to deal with more coordinated survivors ie players having they're hand held? Why?.Why would they do this? Built in bt wasn't enough? My goodness! Why not just give everyone free Unbreakables while they're at it and free Tenacity...so dumb!

It's contradictory! Swf is a big problem bc only Nurse and to a degree Blight are the only killers that can handle them but it's still no guarantees...

You really think this is good for the game? Smh

You fail to realize one very important factor in all this..maps! Killer loses over 80% of the maps but yeah let's balance solo around swf....smh! Like swf isn't a major problem for killers to begin with.

The devs are bad at balancing and they sometimes have terrible ideas period, they're human but at the same time this is rediculous.

Intuition, surprise horror element, unpredictability of matches all gone because of stupid hud icons.....smh

If I'd like to play party game. I'll play other game. I'd like to play horror action game, and no other game is better than DBD.

New surviver UI is spoiled horror essence. It's ridiculous.

  • Edilibs
    Edilibs Member Posts: 699

Yeah it got turned into a kiddy party game just with one patch! Does Fortnight have something like this? I'm older I dont like or care about Fortnite why did they do this to the game?

  • Edilibs
    Edilibs Member Posts: 699

Oh because Japan and Korea are saying what I'm saying I am no longer an entitled killer I guess! Lol typical mindset and followers.

This hud ui thing screws killer. You are literally butchering the killer experience with this. There are way more reasons why this hud thing should be removed as opposed to it staying, it sucks a** really, I wish they either put an option for this and separate hud users from non hud user games or revert it back.

Games with killer are getting way more dumb. It's stupid at this point

  • BrianOfJudea
    BrianOfJudea Member Posts: 7

The new survivor hud is more of a convenient change and not a substantial buff, bad solo teammates are still gonna be bad despite these changes. The info from the huds is undeniably going to make decent survivors more aware in general but just knowing that your other teammates are healing or doing gens isn’t going to make matches go twice as fast with the gens getting slammed faster than they already could. I’ve already played two hours of killer and the hud changes in my experience have not and won’t impact on the overall speed of gens. Even if these changes do result in the kill rates dropping slightly with the escapes rates potentially increasing which is likely, as a killer your only as good as the survivors your going against and vice versa as a survivor, how can you improve or proclaim to be good at either role if you win every match with little to no effort.

    Yeah, no.

On one hand, I disagree with the OP.

On the other hand, it's not a crazy concern. The killer incentive has been at 100%, dawn to dusk, for the past 2 days now. Painting all killer players as hysterical prima donnas is hardly fair.

Exactly. " I played some of it and it helped out knowing the Killer was chasing someone I could go unhook safely or go a little risky and do that One Man Gen." You should not have that info without you seeing it. Ever.

I can argue my opinion all I want! We either discuss our oppositions or we argue them, it's the same thing. I think the UI implementation is a terrible idea and yes I will argue this.

Kill rate dropping "exactly"! This is not balanced it's very unbalanced. It's gonna impact the game in a negative way you'll see..
