Hey guys. Been playing maybe a couple years now. Won’t say I’m a pro but im definitely not the dude hiding in closets or crouched in the corner the whole game. Currently my survival rate sits at 26.92%. What changes have some of you veteran survivors done to see some improvements on your survival rate? I only play soloq as nobody i know plays this game. And the learning curve is so high that anyone that I’ve gotten to try, gives up after a few matches. What perks do you guys favor and how can i extend chases or outright escape from them?

The best tips I can give you to escape are :
- focus on gens. It is way more important than fancy plays. Hyperfocus + Stack out will help a lot in solo.
- don’t be the first survivor to be chased or hooked (teamates will farm you, and the killer tunnel you). Don’t underestimate stealth.
And that’s it. Is it fun ? No. Imho the best solo build is : Hyperfocus, Stack out, Dead hard, CoH or Adrenaline with a toolbox.
After a while you won’t have fun escaping this way and play meme / fun builds. Mine is full boon (CoH, Shadowsteps, Exponential, Dark theory).

My solo build is very general and meta IMO. Because i'm using Windows, Dead Hard, Kindred, and Prove Thyself. Sometimes i exchange the exhaustion into Balance or Adrenaline. Also i don't forget about Med-Kit, i farming them in my loadout since i always play solo (but if you remembered totem placement in every map, i recommend you brought CoH since it will helpful for you or your teammates).
And, focusing on gens are more important.

My super sweat build - DH, windows, adrenaline, and either CoH or resilience.
Another build I’ve been having a ton of fun and success with is - sprint burst, vigil, self aware, adrenaline. Paired with a nice flashlight. If you can properly 99 a SB, it works wonders. I get tons of beam saves with it.

So I’ve noticed a lot of survivors use adrenaline right now. Is it really worth it? How much value do you really get if it only activates when the gate is open? Does it come through in a pinch a lot?

Hard to say without seeing what you're doing. Positioning and game sense are the things survivors tend to struggle with the most.
There's a difference between being immersed+unproductive and not handing killers chases and hits for no reason. A normal TR killer should never be walking up to you and hitting you before you can make it to a pallet or window. You're pointlessly greeding gens or positioning poorly if that's happening. That extra 3% of a gen that isn't going to finish regardless isn't worth giving up the health state.
Run away from the terror radius. It seems simple and intuitive, but players struggle with the concept at every MMR. Crouching behind a bush 3 feet from a gen or hook is literally never the correct play. Get away from it. Ask yourself if you're throwing the game by going down there. If you are, move.
Stop trading 1 for 1s when the killer is camping. You're not gaining any pressure from that. The killer is not going to leave the hook. Repeat: the killer is not going to leave the hook. Work on gens away from that area.

How did you come up with your survival rate % ?

No amount of time played or perks will ever help your escape rate % go up unless you’re with a coordinated team on comms that slam gens properly without getting 3 gend and can macro tiles effectively against smart killers. Like having someone being chased and them counting down from 3 sec before they go down to avoid eruption on a gen is huge for example.

I track it in an excel spreadsheet on my phone. Sadly i only recently started doing this, so my sample size is small, but just gauging it, i do think its pretty accurate for my entire career lol.

I run windows and kindred as well. Lately iv been thinking kindred may be less useful than i thought since usually the only information i get out of it is that my teammates are crouched in corners or killers are patrolling around the hook. I guess it does help with knowing that a killer is just camed near the hook, but iv been considering changing kindred to something else.

I did used to run a lot from the terror radius. I would always find myself running straight into the killer when i tried that lol. I feel like spine chill was kind of useful to avoid that before they nerfed it. I’m not sure if its very useful anymore. Good viewpoint tho. Might try running from the radius again.

Actually at low MMR that is what you have to do to win. Minus playing Nea. Pick Meg with no skin to trick the killer.

Kindred also let's you see what direction the killer is headed which is very useful information.

How do you know your survival rate? Is there a way to check it in the game?

You’d probably need to play selfishly so that you’re able to escape through gates & thereby increase your MMR. That’s going to get you better teammates eventually. If not that, play with a SWF. That can also raise your odds of escaping trials.

My attitude and mindset has changed drastically over the past 6 months in regards to teamwork. Usually, I ll shred gens and keep away from the killer, only to be hooked and killed once which was annoying as af. However, I kinda established that actually that taking some heat of last hook / injured survivors can be beneficial to chances of escaping as it practically extends the match duration by making it a potential 12 hook game rather than a 10.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is exactly one thing and one thing only that you can do if you want more escapes / more fun while playing survivor.
SWF up.
No, seriously. I understand that your current friends aren't interested, but in that case you should join a content creator's Discord or look for Groups on Steam. SoloQ is dead and buried, there's nothing you can do. Even if you run the killer for five entire minutes, if your teammates aren't contributing, you will eventually get hooked. The whole "doing gens, you?" thing became a meme for a very good (as in bad) reason. You might hear propaganda proclaiming that SWFing only gives you 15% extra escape chance tops, but that's manipulated data to minimize the perceived efficiency. The difference between SoloQ and SWF is whether you die or escape 9 out of 10 matches.
I would absolutely not run Adrenaline if I were you. That's an amazing perk when sealclubbing or SWFing, but since your escape rate is also in the dev's much coveted 20-30% and SoloQ matches very rarely get to endgame, you are better off with bringing a perk that has better general utility. I'm currently using Dead Hard + DS + Reassurance + Unbreakable and I also bring a medkit with two full heals. This covers almost every situation that you can come across, with the sole exception of the killer tunneling someone other than you. But in that case, just smash those gens and hope that they last long enough. You can also Reassurance the tunneled survivor on death hook since the killer will likely proxy camp, giving you time to potentially finish gens while he is keeping an eye on your teammate.
If you are desperate, you can go for: Distortion (first person that gets found gets tunneled out so never be found). Left Behind (people say Clairvoyance is better but with LB you can bring a key in case the map doesn't have a hatch offering plus you don't need to mess around with totems). Wake Up (in case you don't have a key and have to risk exit gates). And either an exhaustion perk or COH. Maybe unbreakable or power struggle for a clutch escape in case the killer leaves you to be the last one sacrificed, I'll never forget escaping a Nemi when I dropped Killer shack on him.
The last school of thought is to just become an absolute unit in chase, dedicate your build to it (DH,WOO,Res,Bond) take aggro so that the first chase takes a while and survivors create pressure and then pray you find one of those killers that doesn't tunnel. If people on this forum are to be believed, they actually exist. Somewhere apparently.

Lately i've been using Self-Care, Botany, Reactive, and Resilience and suprisingly i received much value that i expected

u zoom to the exit gates at top speed fully healthy. powerful in a swf and just pretty good overall at high mmr. now u can see the generators progression so it should be even easily to time

Depending on the playstyle I want to do in a match, I'll either do partial gen speed up Prove and Deja Vu, full Chase with Resilience, Windows, Adrenaline, or a hybrid healing build. Most of the time I always at least use Off the Record and Lithe.

Oh my god I use that build too. I usually run it with Lithe instead of Resilience if I want to try to heal up in chase

It's going to sound unhelpful, but you should put more effort into finding or creating a SWF.
I get that getting any friend who isn't ridiculously competitive to stick with a game like this is nigh impossible, but that same population of players does exist in the game already.

couple months later and sadly i can say that my survivor rate is at an even 25% xD though i’ve stopped playing as much since the game is so one sided (in my experience) thought somebody might need to hear they arent the only ones having bad experiences on this game.

I'd say, if you're Solo Q, that's probably about normal.
Between Killers that are just better than you, Killers with obnoxious powers/gameplay, getting tunneled or camped and plain old bad teammates; I'd say surviving a quarter of your games is honestly about the norm.

Yes Adrenaline is very useful b/c of the instant heal and speed burst. The most optimal way of using it is in chase, but thats best case scenario as the killer is about to get you and you're relying on your teammates to crank out that last gen so Adrenaline can activate. This way, you waste even more of the killers time since now he has to decide to either drop chase with you and stop doors or continue after you, in which case he has to still catch up to you b/c of the speed boost.
If you are hooked & the final gen finishes, upon coming off hook you are fully healed as well (and get the speed burst)
In most cases (against good killers) the end-game will likely be very close, multiple people on your team or all of you will likely be on death hook & a lot of times, you are injured at the end-game b/c you have to prioritize getting that last gen done instead of wasting more time to try to heal.
Even if you aren't in chase, an instant heal and sprint burst is very high value. Its an incredibly strong perk, but its fair in the sense that it only rewards you if you get to the end-game & finish gens.
In the more casual/new player matches, Adrenaline tends to not be as useful b/c people don't do gens, they open chests and run around the map breaking dull totems, trying to get the killer's attention or flat out just hiding/running around the map.
In higher level play, people will crank gens instead of doing more meaningless things so getting value out of the perk is higher.

Interesting points.
I actually started playing killer instead. I have to say so far its waaaay more fun and maybe its because i JUST started killer, but it seems way easier. So far iv played 10 games, and only two resulted in no kills. All others were 4k games. Again, maybe because i just started and might be in a lower rank.
