Do killers like when survivors self-delete on first hook?

Does this provide a dopamine hit? Do you like it? Hate it?

What's the take?

It lowers your potential BP gain, but that's really all I know.

Me personally, I dislike it more when they disconnect even though I know they'll get a penalty for it

Usually I hate it. Though its not so bad if they do it on maps like garden of pain or cowshed.

I find it incredibly scummy. If I'm not doing a rift challenge or going for adept and someone throws like that, I let the others escape. If someone manages to unhook before the thrower gets sacrificed, I slug the thrower and let them bleed out. No sympathy for quitters.

I don't really care when it happens, I am more likely to give hatch to whoever survives longest when it happens though.

It's more like an audibly groan moment, of the kind 'oh, it's one of those games, let's get it over fast so we can all move one'.

But I'll take it over them just going around and sandbagging teammates. In that case, it's not gonna be a fast game for the sandbagger. I always make sure of that.

When playing killer i usually don’t like it (though I will still try to get my challenge/daily/whatever done - otherwise I will probably let the survs escape and won’t tunnel/camp hard)

though when I have this happen as surv (one of my teammates ends themselves on hook) it is sadly pretty common that the killer will still go out of their way to make the match as miserable as possible for the surv team (hard tunneling, head nodding, being toxic in EGC) -feels great when accomplishing a win in these cases with 1 or even 2 escapes!

Truthfully I don’t care but I’d also wanna move on to the next game. So I kill everyone as fast as I can.

Hate it. I often run MYC and I play for hooks. So I WANT you to get rescued.

Same here except I usually give last survivor hatch if there is a hook suicide. Just want to move on to the next match as quickly as possible.

It was once or twice in my experience (I don't take the cases when only two survivors present and one killing himself to give the last one chance to find hatch, I do it myself usually). Maybe it one don't play like trash, people won't suicide on first hook.

That's my reaction as well. I hate it less if it's a game where I was already going to farm (usually multiple streamers or flans in play) but it helps show how whiny and self-centered it is since the survivor who self deleted had a guaranteed escape if they had done the bare minimum of sticking around.

I can count on one hand how many times ive had survivors hook suicide. Most recent was when 3 gen defending with Knight <insert Leo Di Caprio meme> 🙃

I don't see the point in doing it. Atleast run the killer for a bit and give your teammates a chance.

Unless it's to give a teammate a chance at hatch, it's a selfish act and I dislike it from both sides. The absolute worse being those that throw a tantrum if rescued in time.

Kinda like it tbh, makes the match a whole lot more laid back for me.

I had a match on RPD against a 3 genning Knight. We had a DC but that was fine, we were slowly pressuring two different gens. Yes he was kicking the gens over and over not chasing, but we were gaining progress faster than he was regressing it.

Then I notice Jane misplayed at a pallet loop (she got greedy going for another loop), and she predictably starts trying to die on her first hook. She gets rescued but doesn't attempt to run, and puts us to two survivor's, and eventually we lose.

That tilted me quite a bit because I was trying for the RPD achievement too and we were winning, but she didn't want to play anymore so screw the rest of us I guess.

Nope, hate it. I don't even want to play after that happens early on in the game. Typically will log off after a game with a dc/suicide early on.

If the game just started, I hate it but when it's already like almost over, like 2 gens left or exit gates ready then I'm like: lol,ok, he quit.

I only self delete myself first hook if no one can be bothered to unhook me before second phase.

Killer mains should like, right? The whole point of the game is to kill everybody lol

It's boring, just a way for people to bypass the dc penalty. Though it's whatever I rather just let the rest of the survivors go.

I don't do this, purely because many times I've gone on to play a fun game despite being left to second hook, but it's 100% tempting at the time! I do get it

  • Snowflake_Syndrome
    Snowflake_Syndrome Member Posts: 239

I mean if I go to second phase but I see the team is being somewhat efficient and they're banging out gens I might hold ground and stay.

Otherwise if they're just running around doing nothing I'm out lol.

If someone does that within 5 gens then I'll just let the survivors escape since the game is not fair for them and it ruins the mood to boot.

as a killer i tend to drag the game out to punish the other survivors. sorry not sorry.

I don't care if they kill themselves.

Maybe they have a kitchen fire and gotta go deal with that.

    Angry Ex on the phone.

    RL Michael is behind them.

Its a game, if my opponent needs out, I want them out.

i know it's counterintuitive and counter productive. but... as a killer i HAVE to obessively make sure that everyone d/c's otherwise i've failed my missions. it picks the flowers. it picks the petals. all things in a row else mommy gets mad. it picks the flowers. it picks the petals. all things in a row else mommy gets mad. it picks the flowers. it picks the petals...

    Really dislike it

I often only have time for 1 or 2 games per day and having one or sometimes both ruined is just frustrating.

Selfish people. If it wasen't for the fact some people do it for actual valid reasons i'd be really tempted to just stop hooking survivors entirely to prevent this so i can actually play the game.

  • Sava18
    Sava18 Member Posts: 2,439

Lmao why do people always gotta make it about tunneling and camping. Yeah, I don't do either because I find it boring as well. I want to get the full experience of each survivor I chase from full health, because maybe I'll actually go against a really good survivor.

So annoying I had 2 survivors suicide on hook early on the match and then I tried to farm with last 2 but the other went AFK and dc:t while I downed and picked her up and that caused me the bug that I could not move rest of match other survivor was hiding pretty long before he found the hatch. Worst part was that I brought cake on the game.

    fulltonon Member Posts: 5,762

Honestly I don't really hate it except for the fact they can freely DC without getting DC penalty, like yeah at least I can play that match "casually" then.

I don't like it, but I find it funny

Half the time it's "i made 1 mistake? THATS IT"

I've had survivors do it when I'm losing too, basically turning the tide and giving me a win when I would've lost otherwise

I don't like it because I don't really enjoy playing matches where I have to try to manage to lose. And that's what an early enough hook suicide does to a match.

It's none of my business what they do when they're on the hook XD

It used to cheapen the win for me but these days.... Yea idc

Usually doesn't matter to me one way or the other, for either side. Unless I'm doing a tome/daily that somehow required something that I won't be able to get now. Even then, get it in the next trial.

On Killer it slows the trial down and I can play more chill, often farming with the other survivors. I usually wind up having more fun, and I get to play the mini game of guessing if that was the survivor that brought the map offering.

On Survivor it's more "Ah well." I definitely get it, as I've hooked out on a number of occasions. Sometimes the match is just done for you even if someone else wants to keep playing. It's the other Survivors that still try to get a cheap unhook off you, when it's obvious you're not staying, that's tedious. Now you have to find the Killer and repeat, preferably before the safe unhook BPs go out.

It's only annoying when it ruins a challenge I was doing, which isn't very often.

    Usually it's just funny.

to punish them for what lmfao, do you think they're a hive mind?

  • wydyadoit
    wydyadoit Member Posts: 1,145

it is possible to punish without identifying a reason for the punishment.
