Can we remove item rarities?
Make a generic option of all items one of each. Make them free and default like for killer weapons. Increase amount of addons to 3 and readjust addons so that you can make same combinations as you do now.

well... then what would be the point of the blood web? as a survivor what reason would you have to search chests? ace in the hole would be dumb as well as plunderer's instinct?

You use more addons than items. I have more than enough items to last me a life time same thing cant be said for addons. So items in chest could spawn with very weak or no addons. Ace could still do its thing for 2 addons. plunderers could show chests and grant just one rare or very rare addon.

how about this:
since items are the equivalent to powers in the bloodweb how about making all items available at all times and universally making it so they're all balanced.
in theory this is similar to what you wanted right?
so to continue the idea of "dropping an item". what if in order to get an item in the first place - rather than discover it in the blood web you have to get it out of a chest in a trial then escape with it?
once you do that - you have unlimited uses of the item until you "drop it" in a trial. then you have to get it again.
that would free up blood webs for exclusively perks, offerings, and addons similar to how killer's blood web works and increase the value of perks like pharmacy and whatever the flashlight one is.

Then you would have no use of bloodweb period after getting all perks.

I suggested for months. Items should be free but only have the weakest version of them. Sure 4 Brown toolbox / medkit every match will be a thing, but thats mean they will balance around.
For now, 2 exact teams, one with no Medkit and other one with 4 Ranger + charges + styptic/ syringe are too far.

As long as I've been playing the game I've been confused by how items/addons work. I think BHVR's idea was to raise the tension for survivors by making them think they are going to lose something. Given you accumulate so many items however, it just becomes tedious.
It would require a rethink of the bloodweb, but I think that is necessary as well.
