Is Spirit bugged at the minute?
Don't know if anyone else is experiencing this or if Spirit players have all just decided to start running the Furin add-on, but every time I go against a Spirit now, her phasing sounds aren't directional, it's just a flat noise.
Just wanted to check on here because as much as I wasn't her biggest fan before this happened, at least I could actually do something against her in chase.

How are you still complaining about the Furin add-on ? It got changed on February 8th ( last Wednesday ) to make it so that whenever a phasing Spirit enters a 24-meter radius of a survivor, it turns directional.
using the Furin add-on is actually going to leave the spirit player at a disadvantage now.
but can you tell me what the loadouts of some of the Spirit players were?

There's a video on YT by Hens333 showcasing,,Rule seems to be " if survivor doesn't have LOS aka line of sight on spirit while she is in phase they don't get directional sound,,just the generic vacum cleaner thing, basically old spirit ,what remains is someone to confirm if it's intentional or a bug ,here's the link to it

This sounds like the same sound occlusion mechanic that deletes survivor footsteps, survivor noises, and boon noises, when there's no line of sight.
Killers have been dealing with this garbage sound occlusion for an extremely long time. Why should survivors get a free pass out of it? Sound occlusion should either be fixed for both sides, or it should cause both sides to suffer.

I wasn't complaining about it, I was wondering whether or not everyone had started using it fir some reason. It doesn't have anything to do with it though, as someone else had said, Hens made a video showcasing the recent changes to Spirit, and they're basekit.
Now whenever there's something between the phasing Spirit and a survivor, the phasing sounds lose direction, making avoiding a hit pretty much impossible at most loops.

I mean I personally think there's a difference between gen sounds being muffled by walls and Spirit pretty much being reverted to her old self.

Spirit losing directional audio doesn’t suddenly « revert » her to her old self. There’s still an audio notification for when she starts phasing in the TR.

True, but that means nothing if
1) You don't know where she is, I've had times playing against Spirit recently where she starts phasing, I drop a pallet to try and at least delay a hit and it turns out she was actually leaving me
2) She's moving at double your speed at base

well then we go back to playing against her the proper way: being proactive, trying your best not to put yourself in a position where it favors the Spirit, and overall prolonging the chase time.
and her still having an audio cue when starts phasing in the terror radius definitely helps maximize the effectiveness of the things i mentioned above.

But don't you prefer there actually being some reactionary aspect to her power? I play Spirit every now and again and my favourite thing to do was mind game using the phasing sound, you can't do that anymore, again, it falls back into her old playstyle of "the survivor guessed wrong", it doesn't feel rewarding at all.

Nah bro it's a feature/s

well i play Spirit almost every game ( have been for a long time ) and i mostly go against survivors who don’t fall for the « Bait directional audio in one side then appear from the other side « and more often than not this doesn’t work as there are titles where after baiting one side, it takes a while to get all the way to the other side ( Spirit’s default phase-walk movement speed certainly doesn’t help in this regard )
also not to mention, i won’t always be starting phase-walk up close for the « bait directional audio « to be effective , Sometimes i will need to injure a survivor then catch up to them using my power and in doing so, i will be using at least half of the power gauge if not more and there won’t be enough duration for me to do that and then the recovery time takes a while to recharge.
overall, personally i don’t like the directional audio as it makes Spirit feel like a fast-moving killer without any uniqueness to her.

Op asked a simple question and you wrote a whole fan fiction in your head and got mad about it I'm at loss of words

It’s the same sound occlusion system. I just think it’s funny that when killers complained about sound occlusion, we get told “it’s not that bad“, but when sound occlusion hurts survivors, then all of a sudden it’s a big deal, and some survivors are even asking for a killswitch to happen.
Survivor noises and killer noises should be treated equally. So if survivors think it’s ok for their sounds to get deleted when there’s no line of sight, they should also be fine when killer noises get deleted when there is no line of sight.

they’re right tho

It's a bug

You don’t know that. It hasn’t been officially announced as a bug. And if it’s a bug, it should stay broken for as long as the other sound occlusion problems are broken.
Fix all the sound occlusion problem, or don’t fix any of them. That is fair.

Instead of trying to react to the Spirit sounds when you can't tell the direction of her, force her to react to you.
This is Proactive vs Reactive.
IE you hear her phasing after you but aren't where she's going to go so you fast vault the window, wait a second, slow vault back over. This forces her to immediately commit to going around and now her powers on cooldown with her on the opposite side of the loop.
Don't react to Spirit, make her react to you. You're trying to manipulation your sounds that she's hearing to force her to make guesses.

either it's intentional or it's just a bug from bhvr...
when a killer is behind a structure even the killer's TR sounds like he's very far away but in reality he's very close to you, the same thing has always existed with gens when you're behind a wall the sound of the gene minimized, i.e. if spirit (in the phase walk) is behind a wall then you can't really tell where it's coming from
