All such intresting and unique designs
I mean look at the legion a hoodie and a mask thats insanly well thought out and so cool
Oh and the trapper with just his overalls peak desgin

I don't understand:
- Why the gas mask is covered in rhinestones
- Why she's not wearing a full gas mask, which WOULD be creepy
- Why she's just wearing generic clothing instead of some kind of actual skull-themed killer-gear
Kind of feels like the design team is missing the forest for the trees. At least Trickster had unnatural eyes, blood splatters, and exotic knives.
I can't help but think of how League of Legends went from "diverse cast of monsters, fantasy races, and interesting class concepts" to "attractive anime boys and girls all the time, every time". At a certain point, you kind of lose the plot.

You're mixing up complicated with interesting. Good design is about taking different elements and combining them into a cohesive whole. Trapper and Nurse having simple designs doesn't make them bad. The Skull Merchant having a bunch of elements piecemealed onto one character doesn't make her good.
Legion is a group of edgy teens. Their design allows BHVR to sell the nostalgia that is '90s fashion. I'm not a fan of Legion, I find their lore atrocious, but Legion's aesthetic is at least easily recognizable and understandable.
You like The Skull Merchant, fine. But she's not going to resonate with a lot of people. Even BHVR seems to realize this, because a lot of this chapter is being sold on sex appeal. There's nothing wrong with that in my opinion, but it's something BHVR has really shied away from until now. While they've sold some shirtless male cosmetics, they haven't sold girls in skimpy bikinis.
