Spirit mains must be very happy now
Everyone plays Spirit again! Her pickrate must have skyrocketed since I see them offten now.
Before it was maybe 1 Spirit per 20+ games. Now Its like 1 per 6+ games.
Isn't not because people realised she is bugged, right??? Hehey right?!!!

Not surprising really. It’s funny how all spirit mains basically dropped her after the nerf and are only willing to play her again when the coin toss is brought back

I mean, that's why I decided to play her more again. I still haven't gotten a grasp on how the bug works, so it's not really something I can make use of. xD

Maybe it will be listed as "known issue" after new chapter drops and they leave it at that for another month. Its funny how many spirits are playing now since shes bugged, same as how many killers started using Sloppy when it got bugged. What a coincidence

Maybe the horrible sound occlusion will be fixed for everyone, rather than just trying to sort out Spirit's case specifically.

Yep any time a bug is found either side will desperately try to abuse it while it is available
Remember the breakdown bug? Or even buffed boil over with RPD? Pig’s bodyblocking with boxes and oni’s blood orb bug all abused until they were fixed

I played her yesterday and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. What exactly is bugged about her besides the Dried Cherry Blossom, which does literally nothing?

The bug is on the survivor side: the directional audio isn't working anymore if there's minimum occlusion between the survivor and the killer, which means it's basically a guess all over again

I personally think that its one of the biggest, fundamental problems with DBD: that the survivors always got SO much more info about the killers power then the killers themselves. With Spirit, you were often in the blind where the survivors were heading, while they had sorta perfect info about what you were doing. She was doable, but it was always an uphill battle. Same with the likes of Wesker of Plague or Sadako: the guy controlling the Oroborus worms or the Misstress and Highpriestess of a deadly plague only get binary info about their own realm of influence (that survivor is infected/fully infected), while survivors get the full, gradual info. And with Sadako its even worth: she is cursing everyone, but she only know who is kinda cursed, until they get finally fully condemned, and even then she has to guess which TV station they might be headed to, while the survivor see the status of the course of everyone in realtime.
I know that all this is done for "balancing" and probably also anti tunneling, but its also immersion breaking and often frustrating, that you know the other side has perfect info on YOUR power, while you have to second guess everything.
Old Spirit was way more fun to play, because you could get the jump on survivors, while she after the rework felt really underwhelming and sad. So yes, people are jumping on the opportunity to have some fun with her again, before she gets inevitable neutered again. Can you blame them?

Absolutely this. And killers have been told for years that sound occlusion is fine, but when it finally happens to survivors, now it's a big deal and something needs to be done with it.

The problem was that spirit ended up getting way more info than the survivors. With the nerf she still had the advantage due to moving at minimum 176% move speed making loops very playable
The old coin toss spirit without counterplay was frustrating for survivors and very 1 note for killers since it was simple to play

At least Iron Will no longer negates her main info source, too.

current spirit is more fun to play then upcoming skull merchant killer. The oni stealth buff made me undefeated playing Oni. Now its back to losing games to not enough demon furies per game and boring gen-rushing.

Killswitch Survivor and the entire game until they fix the sound bug, then? Because if "not hearing things you should hear" is a game-breaking bug like that, it's kind of everywhere.
It'd be rank hypocrisy to say it only has to be fixed on one side and that one side is turned off until it is.

I don't understand why people want BHVR to apply the killswitch so liberally. You shouldn't WANT people to have to wait around to play dbd, that's like the opposite of good business, and frankly Spirits audio being bugged is in no way shape or form the same as - Clown never has to use a yellow bottle again and not only that but maybe the player didn't even know it was bugged and has unintentionally "abused" a bug.

No, they should fix it for both sides, but you can’t just killswitch survivor entirely.
Sound bugs should be fixed across the board. But a bug existing for one side doesn’t justify the existence of another bug on the other side. It is not an excuse.
The point is, it’s no coincidence how many Spirits there have been lately and the fact that more people are playing her now only because she’s broken is kinda pathetic.
Fix sound issues on both sides of the game, and in the meantime, get the killer whose main counterplay is sound (which is broken to the point that you can’t trust the information it gives you) out of this game until she is fixed. If it was literally any other killer with a sound bug it most likely wouldn’t be as big of a deal because other killers have other counterplay not involving sound cues and it probably wouldn’t be killswitch worthy. Legion’s leather sounds while vaulting have been missing for forever and were finally fixed recently. But did that make Legion killswitch worthy? Of course not, a minor sound bug like that has very little impact overall. But Spirit’s entire phase mechanic is based on sounds that don’t work right now.
I get that, but Spirit doesn’t have adequate counterplay with this bug. Her main counter relies on sound and it’s broken. There’s a reason old Spirit was changed.
If someone actually plays her without knowing she’s bugged, okay, fine. That’s not their fault for not knowing. But that’s just part of why she should be disabled. It’s not ideal to disable an entire character, that is true. But she is not acceptable in her current state.

I consider myself a pretty average player and I haven't struggled against her since this bug became generally known (also I gaurentee you if all these "dbd content creators" kept their mouths shut and stopped making clickbait content no one would be complaining as much as they do since spirit is like barely played, but that's all besides the point) It also doesn't seem to be a bug that happens all the time, seems there's very specific situations where it happens so I don't see exactly why counter play is suddenly gone.

But it's not a bug that affects her play constantly. Like all the other sound occlusion bugs, it's weirdly variable and dependent on so many parts of the map. Nor does it completely remove information (not hearing anything in some situations is itself information).
I'd rather this be used as an incentive to fix the actual damn problem rather than going "well, guess we turn off this Killer until we can make it ignore the rest of the way sound is handled". Especially because there's no telling how long it'll take to fix a bug in a weird exception to a buggy subsystem.

Well she's my main killer so i play her with or without sound bugs. Nothing changed for me except she now has a really pretty new outfit.

I didn't see any difference. Both in my games and the streams I've watched. She never had a particularly high winrate btw.

Most of them are not even using the new outfit either. I've said for a long time that Spirit is piss easy to do well with. Playing something like Hillybilly in comparison gives a night and day difference. Spirit is just easy to get results with. Seems like more people are realizing that.

I hate that this almost never happens for the weaker killers like pretty much... NEVER..and if they do they get kill killswitched instantly.
like yeah we should break a strong killer that has broken stuff as addons , it shouldnt be a problem....right?

Yeah. People really should be asking for BHVR to remove sound occlusion from the game for all sounds. Because asking BHVR to remove sound occlusion when it hurts survivors, but wanting BHVR to keep sound occlusion when it hurts killers, is such a bad double standard.

Clown was killswitched because he was given permanent haste in addition to his ability to slowdown survivors. He was potentially almost 50% faster than survivors if you used the bleach as well. That's not just a difference; that's flat out unwinnable.
Spirit, while her directional audio is broken, still gives audio. You know she's phasing at least, which is more than you did before when she was working as intended. It's definitely a bug that should be addressed soon, but not the "this killer completely breaks the game" type that warrants a killswitch.

I actually gave her a couple of matches again, but she is still ridiculously RNG based where half the match survivors don't make grunt noises let alone footstep sounds. I thought I was just unlucky and people were running really good perks to counter her, but only one survivor had Off The Record. Everyone else just magically avoided making noises when injured during a large portion of the matches. BHVR coding at its finest.

Did something change recently? I’ve barely kept up because most of my attention has been on Valorant and football lately, but I keep hearing Spirit is back to her pre-nerf self without knowing much detail.

Spirit's directional audio uses sound occlusion, just like how survivors sounds have been using sound occlusion for a very long time.
And even though killers have been told for a very long time that sound occlusion "isn't very bad" and we need to "get good", now that it's affecting survivors it's a "big deal" and "should be killswitched". I think sound occlusion should either be completely removed from the game, or it should stay on Spirit, so that survivors and killers can both suffer its awfulness.

That isn’t fair to say. Spirit is one of the strongest killers in the game with or without the sound, but the directional sound makes her balanced. You really have no options against her when she doesn’t have directional audio.

Spirit is kind of trash when sound occlusion isn't affecting her directional audio. I should have known you were just baiting people, yet again, so you can tell us how awesome Spirit is. We all dropped her when the directional audio was implemented, because it was too much of an overnerf. She needs sound occlusion on her directional audio to be playable. If the sound occlusion is dropped, then people will just stop playing her again.

Fine you don’t have to play her if you don’t want to, but I’ve done fine playing Spirit as I’ve played her for hundreds of hours before and after her nerf. I haven’t played her as much lately because I just don’t play DBD as much as I used and when I do play I just play survivor with a friend. However, my experience with her is still valid and you don’t get the right to tell me whether I’m “baiting” people. It’s a little disrespectful for someone that admits that they dropped her right after her nerf to state that false claim.

Basically when she is behind a wall all directional phase audio is gone and replaced with the old non directional one. So at a lot of loops she’s basically the old spirit again

It's just the same sound occlusion that survivor sounds have been using for a long time. If someone thinks sound occlusion is so bad, then they ask for it to be removed from killer AND survivor noises.

using mother-daughter ring isn’t « abusing » it, it’s a valid iridescent add-on to run given to Spirit that makes a killer who was unjustifiably nerfed in the wrong way somewhat competent.
but i.g it’s making you having to get in the spirit player’s head to play around it but that seems to much work for you so you go ahead and call it « abusable « right….
