I don’t see killer instinct an issue nor op at all. The only killer that benefits most from killer instinct is legion and legion isint really a strong killer especially in higher level of play…

It exists because Killer Instinct serves two purposes:

    1. Information for Killers as a major component that cannot be blocked. This is what it is for Legion, what it is for Spirit's addons (especially DCB... if they fix the visuals), for Artist's near misses, for Dredge in Nightfall, and for Knight ('wait where did they fall down?'), Victor, etc.
    2. A downside to interacting with the Killer's power in some way. Either as a punishment--walking across Pyramid Head's trails is bad--or a counterbalance to having just negated it somehow (vaccines, revealing Ghostface).

It's not meant to be something that can be countered. Those who have it in the first case are reliant upon it, or it's conditional on their performance somehow. Those who have it in the second case only get it when you do something. Imagine if you could solve Pinhead's box totally risk free despite the Oblivious it inflicts because you ran Distortion; it'd be dumb.

Have we really gotten to the point where survivors are complaining about Killer Instinct, of all things??

Killer instinct is certainly strong because, as you say, it can't be negated. However it's also not in real time. It activates at intervals and only records your location at the exact moment it last beat. Used well you can very easily throw off the killer and make it waste time as long as you can keep LoS advantage.

Furthermore, while I understand that you may have a preferred gameplay (like heavy stealth), the killer is often entitled to establishing the pace of the game. So if the killer comes with heavy info, then stealth isn't going to do you much good and you are better off switching your playstile.

The killer is like a dungeon master in that fashion.

This is why it's better to have a minimum level of proficiency on all the main playstiles. Challenge yourself to improve and you will find yourself enjoying most games regardless of what the killer chooses to do.

imo there should be more killer instinct in the game, not less.

    Killer instinct irks my soul.

Imagine if Survivors got hit and had a "Hope Instinct" that shows a nearby Hex totem.

    It wouldn't fly at all.

    But auras are fine?🧐

    Screams are fine?🧐

    Noise indicators are fine?🧐

Ridiculous things I’ve seen on the DBD Forums:

Trapper is “too powerful” and the best killer in the game; “Killers should move the exact same speed as survivors and shouldn’t be faster than them”; Lightborn is “op” and being immune to flashlights is “unfair”.

Now I’ll add “Killer Instinct is op” to the list
