I didn't know people were saying it's going to "end DBD", but the new Texas chainsaw massacre game would certainly give DBD a run for it's money. If it turns out to be good that is, it's too early to say what it will be. I just hope it's good since I love the Texas chainsaw massacre movies.

lol every game like this that comes out they say the same thing: "its going to end dbd, it will give dbd a run for its money, it will force the devs to do wonders"
And here we are, still playing dbd, still complaing about anything, still waiting for the next game.

well what about F13? That game was pretty awesome and last i heard it was… ope wait no. That game ended up in a lawsuit battle and basically lost.
Hmm well you could always play secret neighbor with 8 year olds and buggy servers. Oh wait… i think that game is no longer getting updates…

resident evil resistance servers have been taken offline…

To be fair, what I saw of the Ghostbusters game was really fun and I liked that the asymetric nature was kinda reversed, ie the 4 players are the power role, but the ghost is sneaky and can do some serious damage if he gets the drop on the hunters or scares innocent bystanders to death. BUT being an Epic Game Store exclusive never helped any games popularity.
Besides that, VHS was handed as the ultimate hot DBD killer, but the fighting back mechanic is so different, that the feeling isnt comparable. And I think the VHS numbers ultimately didn't turn out as impressive as everyone played it up, right? i mean, competition is never bad as it helps both sides to bring their a-game, but so far no one seriously managed to tackle DBDs spot, and thats not for trying.

Actually VHS numbers was one of the worst in the genre, however VHS had the biggest hype from dbd streamers. Now all of those returned to play dbd.

The TCM game looks alright, I'll definitely give it a go. But I feel like it might get a bit boring after awhile, since it doesn't have variety. I imagine it'd be like playing Bubba all the time in DBD, or going against him all the time as survivor. It'd get old.

It felt like there was a bit of biting the hand that feeds you going on with a couple of popular streamers. Not naming names, but the hype they built up around VHS and Evil Dead *specifically* as DBD competitors was weird considering how they make their living. Judging those games on their own merits is fine, especially since they differed from DBD considerably, but I remember seeing the VHS discord and every single topic was about DBD. A game can't survive when it's playerbase is only drawn together by mutual anger towards another game.

I still don’t get why no one tries to create a similar asymm game with more realistic art direction that’s not directly based off one license.
like.. imagine something more in the style of Friday the 13th/TCM the game but with original characters and possible multiple licenses for DLC?

that is the problem with Friday 13th/TCM/Evil Dead. No potential for other licenses. And if they lose their one it’s over.
and you could easily start with good takes on general horror like Werewolf/Vampires. That’s something that VHS tried I guess? But that art direction was just awful imo

No need to be so rude, I just said it might give DBD some competition. If it's good that is, but again, too early to say since there's not many gameplay trailers out for it yet. Even when it does come out I'm certainly not gonna stop playing DBD, it will still be a one of a kind game when Texas chainsaw massacre comes out.
I don't agree with op crying about leaving the game on the forums, I just wanted to talk about the Texas chainsaw massacre game because it looks cool.

Yeah, even Propnight changed its art to be little more realistic, the VHS style kid and cartoon style just doesnt fit to horror game. Also the monster was extremely weak, and unfun, I played lot of game in the genre, but VHS take on power role is the worst

Oh Propnight did? Gotta check that out then. I feel like they did try something actually in the right direction with their killer/power designs, they it was the artstyle that made me not even try

There are plenty of fun alternatives despite what people will tell you even if it's not the same gameplay, midnight ghost hunt is fun, and phasmophobia is a good game as well, evil dead is fun but it's starting to die, sons of the forest just dropped and in my opinion that's a better overall game than DBD because you aren't doing the same thing on a repeat cycle game after game I mean let's be real, anyone who's played DBD since it came out probably can only handle a few matches of killer and survivor before they're bored and playing a different game I've caught myself playing less and less lately but I've got 12,000 hours this ######### was bound to get old at some point with no real breaks

Surprsingly 3000 players online, I still laughing on some streamers which said VHS will be as large as DbD ,and Propnight will be shutdown by then...However in fact Propnight is the second asymetrical game after DbD. I felt like they did something right, but the artstyle also wasnt to my liking. And unfortunately those childish emotes still part of the game, "farting" so still to immature to my taste though

but yeah. They at least did something right, sure it’s more a party game and not that much horror, but still.
same with that mobile game I guess, Identity V, at least interesting art style and all.
both are a bit too similar gameplaywise to DbD though with hooks/gens etc

I want a proper asymetrical horror game, I really dislike that fortnite artstyle which pushed by most of the released game in the genre. Really dbd is one of the kind, right now

I didn't mean to be rude with you, if anything I was rude with the guy who made the thread, cause I ran out of patience with these "i hate this game, i don't wanna play anymore, but I'm gonna stick in the forums to make sure everyone reads that" attitude lately.
I have a lot of complaints about dbd, but I can't say the devs aren't trying like some people are saying all the time now, like, they just did a lot of changes to the game, changes we've been asking for for years and people still saying they don't care just be cause they released a boring killer, or because they nerfed a boring perk.

It is the game is very one sided...if the Deadite get more advanced in levels before the Survivors then the Deadite win but if the Survivors get any foot hold ie good weapons or items over the Deadite then Survivors win...there's no catching up

VHS devs: make literally the worst possible design choice at every turn in terms of art and core gameplay. Ignore feedback for a year. Shocked Pikachu face at dead game.
