Next will be Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance
After the major outcry and nerf of Eruption, next will be SH:PR. Calling it right now.

Im already stepping away from this game. It seems they just want to pander more and more to survivors, there is no argument anymore the game is literally tailor made for them, they are safe AT ALL TIMES.
Until a 3rd health state is out of this game, it's just gonna remain uninstalled.
16 -
Nah, it’ll be Call of Brine. People will complain that it’s “uninteractive”, “unfun”, “takes no skill”, and “wins games killers shouldn’t win” and BHVR will kill it appropriately.
16 -
It'll be both together with Overcharge and other gen perks. Survivors still get their dead hard and BT basekit.
2 -
Hmm doubt. I see they nerfing Call of brine and overcharge over Pain resonance to kill the 3 gen meta for good.
And i wouldn't be mad, much prefer the design philosophy of Jolt, Pain Res and POP than those other perks. Stalling needs to die.
6 -
You're making a healthy choice. Everything you said is nothing but the truth and I don't think their deeed hurrddd will change and it will stay the way it is.
2 -
They probably will not stack anymore or they reverse the overcharge buff.
1 -
Pain Resonance isn't overpowered the way that Eruption was, so I don't think you can draw a one-to-one connection there.
As others have pointed out, if more meta perks get nerfed, it'd probably be the ones causing actual problems like Call of Brine and its 3-gen application. Things aren't just nerfed for being popular (outside of 6.1 anyway, but that was its own thing), they're nerfed for a reason.
3 -
The game has never been easier as Killer.
21 -
I think that the Overcharge skill check should be changed, but other than that, I think those perks are fine.
0 -
Do you think PR is OP or something?
It's not gonna get nerfed lol
4 -
Just like how after DH will be SB?
This game has been played before
0 -
Nerfs will probably be called for. That doesn't guarantee the nerf will happen
1 -
I think No where to Hide...
But, I'm not sure, this community files into rages over the oddest things, and they seem easily confused. So they may call for a nerf to Shadowborn instead.
0 -
It’s gonna be PR, Jolt or Deadlock next.
There usage rate is gonna be too high just because it’s getting defaulted to as everything else gets nerfed.
2 -
Maybe it's me but pain res has always been super good even after the nerfs, the fact this kind of slowdown came with info and was buffed from ptb was an insane misjudgement of the weaknesses of the scourge hook mechanic. I don't think the perk is unhealthy in the same way some options like dh and eruption are but I do think it's overpowered. I don't mind it being overpowered as it does promote a generally healthy play style of going for hook and encourages less used perks like agitation and other scourge hook perks without needing them to be optimal, meanwhile eruption promoted an un-interactive playstyle and needed certain other perks to be optimal reducing perk variety. Pain res is consistently strong while rarely verging into oppressive to play against which helps it be healthy, although it can allow for some nasty snowballs.
Given some buff to weaker killers allowing them to snowball better I could see it being too much, but until then I think it's in an ok spot as a very strong option that doesn't end up being oppressive.
2 -
Skill issue at its finest.
Go buy a pair of good hands before you come back to the game
4 -
those do seem to be survivors go to reasons for things needing a nerf these days
0 -
My guess list is: CoB (nerf from 200 to 150%) overcharge (nerf from 200% overtime to 175%) deadlock (from 30s to 25-20s) lets not forget that the combo PR + DMS got a nerf with the new qol they are making so it sounds more "realistic" when hooking survivors.. smart survivors were already not working on a gen when a survivor was being carried now that pre short scream before being hooked will give that information even easier without losing those seconds of not touching the gen currently.

I’m sorry but this is nonsense every time someone says it. Killer and solo queue are difficult if the other side is playing optimally and you don’t have an op killer/build. The only easy mode in this game is a coordinated swf and/or Nurse/Blight/Spirit.
5 -
I do think it’s too strong but I don’t think it should be nerfed again until killers have better slowdown at base and/or gens don't fly so quickly at the beginning of the game.
I think there’s 2 categories of strong and overused perks:
- Perks that are actually just overpowered
- Perks that are a bit too strong but combat and/or band-aid fix a problem with the game that needs to be addressed first
Pain Res falls into the second category imo (and so do a few other slowdown perks).
Eruption was in the first category.
1 -
The game has FACTUALLY never been easier for Killer.
It's completely nonsense to think otherwise.

:(

Definitely not SH: Pain Resonance, if perks are nerfed based on: 1. balance, 2. people complaining; then SH: PR will definitely remain the same. The only complaints Ive seen regarding SH: PR is with teammates not getting off the generator when Dead Man's Switch is in play, and even, it's not complaining about the perk itself, it's complaining about the awful teammates. And balance-wise, it's in a good spot.
0 -
Nah Pain Resonance is fine. Eruption was op though and I’m glad it got a good nerf 😁
0 -
You can tell by the posts on this thread that some people never play survivor, lol. Try playing both sides, then you can complain.
2 -
dont think so, pain resonance unlike eruption has fair counerplay u can see a survivor is getting hoked unless u are blinded by an addon from the killer or perk, otherwise is fairly counterable so no.. Eruption is dumb thats everything im gonna say about eruption.

- When I started playing this game since Plague DLC:
Old DH was easy to use for all survivors
Old DS does Gen invincible, the strength of DS fulfilled the weakness of Unbreakable. Known as small PP build. This combo is no more.
Old OoO trumps Undetectable
Old Syringe brought dying Survivor to healthy
Old Toolbox gained more progression faster
Old Iron will made survivors suddenly disappear
Minus 50sec Gen
Slower weapon cool down
Slower Blood lust gain
Survivors had longer distance gain on hit
No Circle of Healing
The only Gen defense perks were Corrupted and Ruin
3 -
The amount of the sky is falling bs in this thread is ridiculous. Eruption was incredibly unhealthy and needed a nerf. I swear everybody seems to forget how much better killer is then it used to be.
5 -
complains about slowdowns has always been about stacking them. Eruption was extremely unhealthy and needed to be changed.
2 -
Speaking from personal experience, I very much understand 😂
0 -
I don't see them nerfing killer stuff after this. It'll be everyone coming for DH. DH will always be the king on controversy with this community. As long as they dont change DH, everyone will just keep complaining about DH, and wont be able to complain about other perks!
Take note BHVR! Actually, I think I see what you've been doing lol.

I mean, maybe? Pain res, isn't that difficult to counter. Sure, like CoB, Jolt and Overcharge, it annoying AF but manageable.
0 -
At this point, it is just crying. Like, how can Killer Mains not see that Eruption totally deserved this change? And instead they cry "Pain Res will be next!!!1111"...
No, why should Pain Resonance be the next Perk?
Does it remove the ability for Survivors to do anything? NO - it can remove the ability to work on that one Gen if paired with Dead Mans Switch, which is two Perks AND does still enable to do the Survivor to do other stuff (unlike Eruption).
Furthermore, Eruption was uncounterable, Pain Resonance/Dead Mans Switch can be countered by letting go of the Gen once the Survivor is picked up or in the split second you see them getting hooked. This does not apply to Eruption, since it is not reasonable to let go of a Gen once an injured Survivor is getting chased.
EDIT: Also, while Pain Resonance is 15% of Progress lost, Eruption was even more. One prog of Eruption basically added half a Gen due to the incapacitated. It was way stronger than Pain Res.
So MAYBE just accept that Eruption was a dumb concept and was unhealthy, instead of thinking that it was only nerfed because of some "outcry"? The Devs really messed up with Eruption, nobody can tell me they actually playtested it. And now they are correcting their mistake.
10 -
Saying things like Eruption was uncounterable, likely build the social trend you're complaining about. Its impossible to trust anything you say when people went and countered it.
I do think its a little stupid to pre-cry about an outcry that hasn't happened yet.
But still, weather you're aware of it or not, you're doing quite a bit to build an antagonistic us VS them environment.
It doesn't help that a developer basically said they check the forums for balance needs...
0 -
And yet, kill rates are over 60% for all killers. Can you explain how that is, when survivors are save at all times?
1 -
Sure. They aren't saved at all times.
0 -
The think is that its only countered by swf, widening the gap between swf and solo. But that gab should be narrowed instead, and, with time, if killrates go down to much, killer buffs will be the way to go.
0 -
I don't care if they buff killers.
I was just saying it could be countered, and it didn't require voice coms.
You could work around it.
Anyways, that doesn't really belong here, as the argument is over and the developers made their decisions.
My point in mentioning it was to point out that you're not going to build trust with people who feel opposed to you by lying.
That will just deepen the divide.

Tbf it is one of the most used killer perks which already does put it on the list for nerfs
Look at DS which was only nerfed because of its pickrate

I just stopped buying things. It’s just such a toxic community and the devs never seem to understand how the game works so I’ll play til it’s dead. Not spending any more money until things improve though. I’m at around 3600 hours or so and it’s just gotten so bad the past year. Idk what happened but since that update last summer it’s just gone straight to hell for some reason.
I did twenty matches tonight half killer and half survivor. Every game but three (two survivor one killer) people dced, died first hook, led the killer to teammates to do a key/left behind play. Camping and tunneling
like if behavior wants to keep making money they need to do something because people are just either quitting or Intentionally griefing
we can focus on perks/items/3rd health state or whatever but the community is just as big an issue as the horrible game balance

Enlighten me, how do you counter Eruption?
And please dont say "Run Empathy".
3 -
They literally added a hud. I’ve been hit with eruption like once in the past six weeks. I stopped running as killer in preparation for the nerf but it’s not that strong if people even half way pay attention
same for dead hard
I do not care about either of these stupid perks. I outplay them both literally everyday and don’t understand how people can’t counter ######### that’s on almost every match now
0 -
Hud doesnt show the chased survivor is about to going down? What should I pay attention to? Stop doing Gen if chased teammate is injured?
3 -
Why don't you play survivor then?
2 -
The thing is, you see when a Survivor is being chased. But you dont know if they go down. It is just not viable to stop repairing a Gen because a Survivor is injured and in chase, because at this point, you are not progressing anything to avoid getting hit with incapacitated which would prevent you from progressing.
And it is also bad for the chased Survivor - they can have the chase of their life, which does not help if other Survivors dont repair Gens because they wait for them to go down.
3 -
You need to use Bond, not Empathy. This is important because you would be deciding IF you want to waste time countering Eruption based on the quality of your rando teammates. Bond is nice because it shows you the players you'd have been better off DCing immediately upon being matched with. But of course you don't do that, you just put up with them. You also don't try to counter difficult perks with this quality of team mate. Did they sandbag you? did they loop a killer around a generator? did they go down in 10 seconds because bad pathing? Don't waste your time trying to over come the communication hurdle you have with this type of player when dealing with Eruption.
Things you have to accept.
Countering Eruption will result in lesser generator efficiency.
You have to change your playstyle to increase your success chances.
First thing of course is don't make a three gen. When Eruption was at its peak in use I'd see it in 1/4 of my games(down to about 1/8 now) so, it made sense to carry a load out to counter it, perks in addition to Bond(which always comes with you primarily to evaluate the solo ques you are matched with), use hyperfocus and steakout(fog wise if you can fit it), and if you're lucky enough to have a SWF2 the one without bond should bring PTS. These are the easiest perks to reduce generator time. It also helps to HOLD a BNP or two, until you are down to a critical gen which is the time where Eruption really swung matches. Simply, don't rush on the first gen, it doesn't matter, only the last one does, unless you are breaking up a tight generator formation. Note that we never really needed fogwise to do this stuff, it worked or didn't based on the quality of the random team mates(but this is most of how DbD works).
And from there its usually as easy and annoying as the community implies, you watch and guesstimate based on bond based observations when the person running the killer will go down. OFC, you will have developed an idea of which team mate runs the killer best so commit to your gen of choice(or need usually) when the runner looks good.
The other thing you can do, and I was surprised at how often a player I could not communicate with could be used to accomplish this is to have them or you hover over the generator in question. You are going to have one of you get hit with Eruption because you are fully committed to getting this specific generator done right now. The other will step in and take over the gen, and the Erupted player will move into the killers FoV on his approach. Use common sense with this one and adjust it based on what the killer tends to do, you may need to linger and hide, or split and circle back. The key thing is to manipulate who the killer is chasing, it needs to be the person with incapacitation so they aren't useless, in this task(they could always unhook, but you're going to let that person sit, for now).
So, there are a couple of things you can/could have done.
Anyways, I didn't @ you in the first place on this one because I can read what you wrote across most of your posts, and it frankly seems like a waste of time to type up the above wall of text for you, you do not seem interested in this type of approach. I already said it all in the earlier Eruption vs the world threads anyway. If you honestly wanted to know, and were wondering if you could manipulate random players to do the above, I'm sorry for making the assumption, and I hope we're all able to consider altering our builds to counter the new challenges that arise in the future before calling for nerfs, because I don't think Eruption was altered due to absent counter play. I think it was changed due to public outcry, and justified via the difficulty level of countering it.
TLDR:
Run bond.
Don't be a potato.
Pay attention.
Try Bond, Fogwise, Hyperfocus, Steakout.
Use common sense.

Ok, lots of text which is basically "Yeah, dont do anything to avoid being forced to do anything". Thx I guess.
3 -
Well.
We won matches like that.
So things were done.
I mean, this game isn't calculus but its not tic tac toe either.
Its more than just hold "W", and abuse the survivor's tiny hit box to do unintended things.
The more options we have to play with the more fun it is.
0 -
Just shows the overwhelming Survivor bias in this forum. Too bad they consolidated the Survivor and Killer forums.
Maybe they don’t want to play soloQ. Other option is to maintain a SWF which can be it’s own headache.

If you're having trouble with Killer right now, it's usually down to individual skill or errors.
