Skull Merchant's First Skin Proves this chapter is a sex grab
Honestly ######### is her skin. I already had my doubts with her base design that this chapter is gonna be a "sex sells" chapter, and then I open the game and see her first rare skin....
Surely I cannot be the only one so abysmally disappointed with how this game is turning out? There's so little horror anymore.

Wesker isn't an original character and isn't sexualised in DBD. This whole chapter screams "buy us cause we're hot" and not "buy us because we're fun and unique". You can have both, but this ain't it. Even Thalita and Renato's cosmetics are "please look at all the skin we're showing"

Tbh they're kind of just reading the room. With that whole Daddy Myers, Daddy Wesker, the outrage when they altered Pyramid Head's behind, all the shirtless survivors (but in particular Vittorio), this community just laps it up. It was the girls turn sooner or later.

The thing about other chapters is that they were still at the very least interesting. This whole release just screams "we realise what we're making is boring and uninspiring, so we're gonna overly sexualise everyone in this chapter so we have some hopes of making money"

Sex and horror have been a marketable combo for a long time. I can promise you a video game character showing some skin isn't the end of DBD. Also if this chapter were a "sex grab" they could've done way better than this. Not sure why this of all things moved you to make a thread like this.

I just hope they tweak her so she's more fun to play. I don't mind her design, though a dark, creepy cyborg type person, or even monster would be infinitely cooler and probably far better received.

The problem is the degree in which they leaned into it.
It's not the same making a proper killer and giving them a sexy outfit than making a sexy woman with a sexy strut animation, a sexy mori animation (The whole sliding her hand is very clearly meant to be enticing), and a mask that looks like she's some sort of pop diva, with references to her being related to manga and stuff... like, it feels like they were leaning really hard into the visual appeal and mashed together every single thing that would make her sell visually, and then, and only then, they thought about her power and gameplay, kinda like an afterthought.
Fanservice isn't inherently bad, but this is not the way to go about it. The quality of the killer got a very obvious hit for the sake of making her as sellable as possible.

I want my big breasted, blonde, ditsy babysitter Survivor. This is iconic in the horror genre. Nothing to do with sex, I just love that aesthetic and the personality that comes with it. * shrug *
I love seeing people being so selfish about what they want to see in a game. Like every single thing needs to appeal to them specifically or it's "what did they do to MY game??" It's not YOUR game, all the characters are meant to appeal to tons of different tastes. That's how you sell.

You realize you can just talk about the stuff you actually don’t like about the chapter without bringing up an optional skin which.. isnt even out of place with all those other cosmetics like shirtless survs, beach huntress, spirit, spirits default, the face that all original female killers are barefooted one way or another, community literally asking for sexy outfits constantly..

Lol idk a LOT of the playerbase sexualise him. Besides there are plenty of revealing skins for other characters. Swimsuits, bare chests. I don't see why this chapter is any worse than normal.

I didn't pay attention to the PTB so I got my first look at the survivors and the killer yesterday. And my reaction was like, "Whoa -- there's more to character design than sculpting someone's butt, you guys." I'm not thrilled that this is what the game seems to be turning into.

its so wild that we've NEVER HAD ANOTHER KILLER THAT WAS CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE (trickster spirit wesker) and we've NEVER had skins that make characters sexy (huntress trickster spirit felix david renato vittorio ) and nobody has EVER played a character solely because they find them attractive, this is such a big issue with skull merchant alone guys

I agree, maybe not the exact details but I definitely want to play as characters evocative of the horror genre. I want every survivor to feel like they could have been plucked out of a horror film I haven't seen. If I dislike a survivor, it's usually because I don't think they fit that mold, like Jonah the genius CIA agent or Vittorio the 700-year-old wizard.
I actually like Thalita and Renato because I feel like they're the first survivors in a long while that match that feeling.
