Were the cool down buffs to SM a mistake?
So, now that SM is being crowned the queen of 3 gens, do you think buffing the cool downs caused this or made the issue worse? Was it the exposed timer and lack of decay? Or was she already the queen of 3 gens in the ptb?
I am just asking for opinion, i am not insinuating or saying she shouldn't have been buffed. Just want to know if this was caused or not

It got worse. She was a 3 gen holder on the PTB as well. But anything that makes her stronger will automatically strengthen her ability to hold a 3 gen as well. It's how this killer is designed.

No those changes were needed for her to actually feel good to play it was so clunky before being where you wanted to place a drone but needed to wait for it to get off cooldown. SM was always strong at 3 gens even on ptb and decoupling the cooldown from placing drones didn't make that that much stronger it mostly just made the setting up in the beginning of the game feel better and it improved her chase placing her drones from loop to loop. But in terms of midgame and 3 gening no it didn't really do anything because it takes 10 seconds to get the drone back anyway if they disarm it so you have to wait to replace the drone even now.

She’s not chasing anyone. She’s guarding a 3-Gen. She doesn’t need chase potential really because she’s very effective at protecting a 3-Gen. And the drones going away after 10 seconds or whatever doesn’t really matter.

Certain add-ons like geographical readout, loose screw, random strobes, advanced movement prediction, prototype rotor, and ultrasonic trap speaker all encourage chases you can absolutely make a chase build if you build around those add-ons.
Getting rid of a single drone doesn't matter but if you get rid of more than one you get one back after 10 seconds and then have to wait another 10 seconds for the next one it requires coordination to beat it.

No, it was more nerfed than buffed (the 3-gen) since PTB. Don't forget that Survivors with Lock On trap on themselfs couldn't destroy any other drones which is good slowdown for her on top of her drones alone.

But do you think that maybe indirectly buffed the 3 gen playstyle more than actual chases?
I remember seeing a post from about the nerf she got about trapped survivors being able to disarm her drones. I already felt like that change was necessary, and now i absolutely know that the change was necessary, she would be even more of a 3 gen queen if they didn't remove that interaction

yeah? she is suppose to be 3 gen character but how weak her current chase even with add-on's, the match are inevitable going go on for 20+ minutes because the killer has trouble closing out the match....

I got worse and better, as you can now hack a drone while you have a claw trap. I'd personally like hacking too be more effective here though, maybe the drone doesn't return for 20 seconds so she can't repeatidly set them up as well around the gens (I understand she's weak and needs buffs else where but weak and unhealthy aren't mutually exlcusive).

I'd say it kinda made it worse.
The 3-gen is inherent to her power, it's literally tailor made for securing and monitoring three zones.
In the PTB she was so weak she was forced to use her power this way. But buffing her has simply made it easier to use her power this way,.

Lol yup, but I bet you by the time dredge is back she gets a whole nerf to her ability to defend them, like drones breaking after 10 seconds of being innactive

I'm finding an issue being the amount of drones she can use and how frequently personally. Every gen has a drone on it. Some of which automatically raise inexplicably so you can't deactivate them. As soon as you have deactivated one she can come back and pop another one right up. Drones are also being placed in areas where you cannot get to them in time before the expose you. Trapper, Pig and Hag do not have infinite traps to use, so why does SM? There needs to be some sort of proximity cooldown if they're going to stick with this I.e once a drone has been deactivated SM cannot place a drone that overlaps with the original radius for 'x' seconds. Despite all the complaints about her being weak I can see her being quite oppressive very quickly. She doesn't need chase ability when she can throw up so many drones which will inevitably leave people exposed and or unable to do much much because their location is revealed.

I don't think so because replacing the drone takes the same amount of time it does now. Decoupling placing a drone from the cooldown didn't effect that much. What it did effect is how easy it is to keep your drones in active mode since it doesn't share a cooldown but that buffs her stealth not her ability to lock down an area.
I would say the biggest buff to her 3 gen camping was instant exposed on failed drone hacks because when you play that style that's what you're looking for making someone panic on that minigame so you can get a quick down. The thing is that's a problem that will fix itself as survivors learn killer because all you have to do is keep doing the minigame and not let go if you're hit while doing the minigame you don't become exposed until after you get injured. So as long as you don't panic you'll be okay.

Given how this killer is playing out, I think I understand why they rushed the Eruption nerf into this update. Imagine how much worse this would be with old Eruption...

I've had this problem with her. I've tried making her good in chase but aginst a decent team I have to fall back on 3 gen strat and omg it's so boring. The problem is she has almost 0 chase potential and that makes 3 gen her best strategy to win with its saf but that's how she is designed intended or not.

The fact that her power was even allowed onto the drawing board was a mistake in of itself

They really need to bring that back because as it is drones are way too easy to hack when they are the SMs only real way of applying map pressure. If survivors at least had to wait for the trap battery to die and take it off to hack another drone she might not have to be forced to three gen as her main strategy.

You know, that would only buff her 3 gen strategy and nothing else. They probably did that change to nerf the strat and didn't work, at all.
That and because of the battery buff, she would be so oppressive basically protecting gens with her drones while survivors have to wait 45 seconds to take down those drones, while the gen is regressing with COB/Overcharge at 300%
Imagine SM without that nerf and pre nerf Eruption.

There is not a cap at 200%.
Anyways, that nerf needed to happen in order to make her traps last longer, which was a good change. 25 seconds was too short on the PTB, but 45 combined with being unable to disable drones would have been too much.

I kinda love that you devalued how problematic the issue would be. Only then to give wrong facts while trying to make fun of me.
There is no regression cap, Overcharge + COB goes up to 300% at full power, if it didn't players wouldn't use it for the 3 gen meta.
