Can this game take a 3rd dud Killer in a row?
2 dud Killers in a row have really put a damper on the game. Really hope they get the next one right.

The next in line is the anniversary killer.
When was the last anniversary dud?

Isn't the knight in a pretty good spot now?
5 -
Yes, it can :-)
Also Knight isn't as bad as when he came out. The mid-chapter helped him a lot (you can play him in different way than just drop stuff on the loops).

I was thinking Clown, imho

Although I really like SM I get what you mean. That being said there's def been long periods without popular killers before. Twins and Trickster came out back to back and going strictly by playrate we had pinhead, artist, sadako, dredge which is 4 killers in a row with low playrates.

Yeah, I am sure the killer advertised as a skillful micro manage machine that's actually just a zoner is in a good spot now game health wise. Oh wait, I just described the last 2 killers. For the same reason people hate the gen kick meta, people hate dh. Regardless of strength it's just boring/cringe to play around. Imagine going from wesker to knight interactivity wise, killer design -100.

The next one is the anniversary so hopefully it’s a good one. We started this year with Dredge and Wesker who were both unique and overall well-designed and then we got Knight and Skull Merchant. It was like everything about good killer design was just suddenly forgotten.
Not really, he’s a little better balance-wise but he’s still miserable to play against. Being denied loops because of being able to just instantly drop AI guards that just do the work for the killer feels incredibly cheap to face.

I really don't understand all the hate for Twins, I find them to be one of the most entertaining and fun killers. True, my MMR is probably average at the best, since I always play more for fun than competitively. And I finally bought the knight the other day and I think he's fun. SM, I didn't like her at all during the PTB, and I don't know how she has changed since then, but it is true that I don't find her appealing, but most likely I'll end up buying the chapter when it's 50% off.

Only Vecna and a Bundle with the Demo-DLC can save us 😁

Give 'em a chance to disappoint us yet again ;)
They REALLY need to stop releasing content and focus on health issues with the game.

2 years ago, RE chapter was dud
Remember how they even disabled rpd for more than a month cause they weren't even able to make it work? Good programmers btw

I'd argue Nemesis was a dud because of a pretty uninspired and dull kit that had quite a few bugs and literally broke over half of the playerbase's machines but even then looking at Twins, Knight, Skull Merchant, Artist, (and as much as it pains me to say, Sadako), he's still not even close to the biggest flop killer we've had.
0 -
I wouldn't.
He's got a strong and viable kit and he's pretty fun to play and to play against. Like, I'd rather play against Nemesis than at least half the cast. Is that a compliment to Nemy or an insult to the rest of the cast? Idk.
Also, yes, he did kinda break my mf xbox which I am still salty about.
RE Chapter was very hype but unfortunately, it did kinda flop on release. I think retrospectively, it was a good chapter now that those issues have been mostly fixed.

In my opinion they should reduce the DLCs to 3 or even 2 per year and use the time more for balancing issues, cosmetics and Reworks of characters who are already in the game. There are a lot of killers who needs adjustments.
In terms of making Money, they could add a shop for perks and addons, more cosmetics, special effects (like other animations for cleaning your weapon after succeeding in hitting a survivor), other Background-Music etc.

Yes. The game can take another underwhelming killer.
most killers still perform very well in most of the matches, just because the ‚high Skill‘ part of the community doesn’t like them doesn’t mean the game will suddenly fail.
DbD needs to have actual good competitors to fail at this point. And even then it’s not a guarantee as similar games can coexist (and should). (And TCM will most likely not be it - way too limited in licensing)

Tbh I'd say that you'd rather play against Nemesis than half the cast is an insult to the other half of the cast 💃🕳️
He released at a time when we were getting a lot of anti-loop no mobility killers. We were right off the back of Trickster, one of the worst received killers on release, and right before that we had Twins, and I don't think I need to elaborate that point further.
I'd argue that Pinhead was a far more refreshing character because he brought something that had been missing since Pig- for reference she released before 2nd anniversary- which was a second objective for survivors to complete (the Box). Plague and Demo sort of had this, but they could be easily ignored (and not cleansing was actually the best plan against Plague), and ignoring the Box is usually a terrible idea.
In retrospect, I can agree Nemesis isn't as much of a flop as other killers, and is less frustrating to play as and against as a lot of the cast, but releasing him after Twins and Trickster wasn't the best move considering his kit.

Ghostface probably.

Whatever they do, at some point they need to put out higher quality content again. More important than that though, is that they fix some game health issues.
The game has become some kind of slog. Matches take either 4-5 minutes or 20+ minutes and mostly whoever ends up losing won't have fun. Some QoL issues should be fixed as well. Why can't killers have a FOV slider? The killer's FOV is awful and running Shadowborn every game can't really be the solution. Then there are some perks (looking at you, DH!), that are hated by a large group of players and make the game feel stale because they are in every game. The survivor equivalent would be CoB / Overcharge.
It just feels like 'fun' hasn't really been the focus in a while.

I feel like Nemesis could go either way. I get why people like him, but I can't stand PvPvE and hate that every developer is obsessed with using it in some way. I can't escape it.

Nah, Tommy and Kimberly from Power Rangers and Rita as the killer would also save us!
2 -
Save Tommy as the legendary cosmetic for Jason. Also the first ever two killer chapter with Ivan Ooze as one of the killers. Profitz
1 -
No, no, no. Lord Zedd or nothing!
0 -
Fine, but Tommy gets his White Tiger cosmetic with the talking sword and Rita gets Lord Zed as a legendary cosmetic.
1 -
He’s the Legendary Cosmetic for Rita!

If they did another stranger things chapter everybody would lose their minds and open their wallets.

agreed

yes they would and we all know that.

10000000%

tbh netflix could use the money to give us s2 of lockwood + co as well so absolutely i would
1 -
Unfortunatly BHVR have ruled out any sort of 'Health Chapter' because they were confident they could deal with any issues the game has whilst maintaining their current schedule of new characters
... yeah.
2 -
It sure can. DBD could have dud killers for years and it'd still probably be fine because everyone likes something and people always have old killers to go back to.

Until a large amount of people stop buying the chapters the game is going to continue to survive. Next chapter they could definitely do another knight/sm killer, plenty of players will still buy it and then complain on socials about how it's weak/not fun to face.
0 -
It's such a no brainer for both companies. And vecna would be a perfect killer
1 -
My vote would be for the dev team to take a nice long break from new content and work on game health. Game already has too much content IMO. But we know that will never happen

With these two rough last chapters the next mid chapter and anniversary need to be quite well received. We need a huge meta shift with perk updates in the mid chapter and a big license for the anniversary like Alien to turn this slump around.

A third lacklustre chapter in a row will really hurt DbD. I'm starting to feel it, even as someone who usually just enjoys games for what they are rather than what they could be, it's feeling really stale. I do think it needs a good Chapter 28, and when I say good, I don't mean 'niche' good, I mean 'blowing up the internet' good. I feel like only Stranger Things: Chapter 2 could possibly do this to DbD. I feel like it'd be very unexpected due to Netflix's clear intentions to steer clear of other games, for now, to focus on their own.
Personally, I'd be stunned to see Slender or FNAF enter the game. One of those would really interest me. Something that I'm not so fond of but know of, like Alien, would be cool. But an original that doesn't quite hit the mark? I'd have to take a break for a while to avoid finding the game downright boring.
1 -
I wouldn't want the Slender Man. His whole thing is being extremely alien and unknowable, there's no way they could include him in a satisfying way.
FNAF... eh. Give Ghost Face a bunny outfit and call it a day, he can party it up with Legion as the gang of terrible people dressed as rabbits.

I guess it depends what you consider a dud. The RE chapter created the most active time in the game, with its "all time players" record being from that time. So, it sure wasn't a dud in terms of reception and player attraction.
0 -
While true, he has several canon powers that he's been seen using. I think he'd be one of those seriously creepy killers like the dredge is meant to be. Slender has so much potential as an excellent chapter, as does FNAF. I guess it's up to individual preference though.
Would you prefer Slender or another lacklustre original is my question haha
