lets discuss the new player experience/why people play killer when survivor is so much easier?
friend of mine decided to buy dbd on xbox for 15 dollars as it was on sale says she wants to try killer(100% bonus) after spending bloodpoints on trapper(bloodpoints from the tutorial).
she picks trapper with jolt brutal strength noed and agitation (the only decent lv2 perks the bloodweb was not kind). queues up 4 survivors ready to go with 4 medkits...she accepts before i tell her not to since it is an obvious backfill lobby. she goes to ormond and gets destroyed (crouching galore and 4 man escape).
she loads up again and sees p3-p5 prestige players(2 toolboxes and 2 medkits)...the game map offering burned and it is pallet stun after pallet stun. she does get 1 hook and 1 kill on another player thanks to noed.
she tries a third match (it was about 11 p.m. now) and yup a nice p39 player along with p20-p33 (4 flashlights) told her to switch to lightborn she says she doesnt have it...you know the rest at the end screen we saw 2 of them with built to last on top of the juiced up flashlights
this happened 2 nights ago(saturday) and sunday and monday we have been helping her to play survivor (she even got the adept dwight survivor achievement after we helped conga line her to the exit and burned a coldwind farm map offering. she was obviously having a lot more fun playing.
she asked why would people play killer when survivor is so much easier? i said it is more fun and she responds to be more stressed out during the match and not have any help?
I tend to agree with all the basekit changes survivors have, addons that are all useful in some way (maybe not keys), the obvious 4 vs 1 aspect, the new hud, backfill lobbies benefitting the survivor side the most, etc.
so why do people want to play killer? your thoughts?

Dead by Daylight sells itself as a game where you can play the big bad horror monster man and kill people. Not a lot of games offer that experience, so new players buy into it thinking they're going to be tough and intimidating and have fun running around stabbing people with a machete, while the survivors are helpless lemmings who have to scrape their way through their disadvantages to win.
This is not true, but that's how it looks from the outside looking in. Then they get in and learn what it's really like.

yeah which i get since every dlc is look at the new killer and here are the survivors but lately i see the killer at 100 percent bonus all the time in the late afternoon/ evenings now

Me watching the game - it's indeed incentivising killer late evenings. Maaaybe even 2-3hrs a day. Rest of the time it's on survivor. Check any day at noon and I guarantee you the incentive will be on survivor without any fail. Me playing the game on both roles always winning more on killer (not always, just way more).
It's much more likely your friend had such experience, because there are barely any low-tier survivors playing the game. The game is too rough on those. You guys helping her in SWF sure helps. But let her play soloQ and then ask which role has it easier and why would anyone play killer...

I too find killer more stressful than it's worth, but as you play more and more you become more "zen" (or at least if you let yourself be, you will) and the games become more interesting and less stressful. I'm definitely not a natural killer player as I go back to being a complete noob if I don't play for a few months. It's pretty rough that your friend was getting matched with people clearly much more experience than them - maybe it's worth doing some bot games for a while?

At low MMR killer tends to be easier i believe

I play killer because it's the only time survivors don't have rocks for brains.

I think this is what determines a killer main vs a survivor main (or equally both ig), because I've heard streamers like OhTofu say exactly the same thing and I just simply can't relate lol
Playing killer will 1000000% make you better at the game though. You don't have to enjoy it, but learning how the killer works and what their weaknesses are by playing them yourself is the absolute best way of being a better survivor

Honestly, when i started killer felt way easier then survivor.
Like for the first like 5 games, i played Wraith with no perks or add-ons and won all of them. I thought wraith was really OP and killer was the easiest thing ever xD
And this was when survivor was way stronger and killers way weaker.
I guess its a low mmr thing.

And I am still lor mmr according to your experience. Like in my experience - it always feels like you have to go mountains to win as survivor - and yet one mistake can kill whole team at any point in the game (even if killer had 0 hooks so far and 5 gens were completed). And even worse feeling is - when you play perfectly and it's your teammate that drags you down.
Anyway - As killer I have something around 70-80% kill rate. As survivor? Barely 40% (and I am generous here. Sometimes it feels you can win only every 3rd to 4th game). So whenever I am fed up with loosing, I just play killer to make me feel better

you really learn so much playing killer that you can apply to survivor especially time efficiency
