BHVR's Response To DDOS Attacks
Gaslight, Gatekeep, and Gamedevelopment... am I right?
In all seriousness, BHVR could have addressed the issue in a significantly better way that does not undermine the experiences of others.
So you are telling me, that these DDOS Attacks that many people have been dealing with (streamers and content creators), are actually just "correlating to a crash"... but you "fixed in our last update"... but people are STILL experiencing DDOS issues or "crash" issues, weird.
Listen, I have nothing personal against you BHVR, but after being cyberstalked and harassed/DDOSed for literal months, I have no reason to feel anything but anger and frustration when you never actually fixed the issue to begin with. It, to me, just feels like some weird form of gaslighting. I normally try to be positive but this is just too much for me, this is where I draw the line.

Not even surprised. Maybe they will come out with another simulator. Rolling my eyes

I just for DDOS’d last night and had to get a VPN. Bruh

It doesn't work that way. If they're making a public statement that there's no evidence that IP addresses are being exposed, it's a pretty safe bet that no IP addresses are being exposed on their end. If IP addresses have been leaked and they make a statement like that, there's an incredible shitstorm they'd have to deal with. It's definitely not worth trying to cover something like that up, especially since they're aware most people are going to react as you did.
This stuff is regulated. They can't just say whatever they want without consequences.

I mean to be fair and Im not siding on either side, all that statement says is that they havent found a source of personal IP leaks in their system which is actually pretty reasonable as the IP could totally have been gotten through steam or other means.
The fact that all they see is a crash is also pretty reasonable as a ddos attack generally goes through your ISP directly to you so in their system information it would just show up as a crash.
Saying its fixed may be slightly misleading but if the IP isnt being leaked on their side, then there really isnt anything to be fixed anyways.

I swear this Community always takes the most bad faith interpretations of any text given, But ill fix it for you buddy. Jeez
But No bHVR isn't out there saying your experience isn't valid. Just that whatever happened isn't something they have found being a fault of the game... yet.

Of course they're going to say that. If they come out and literally admit that there is evidence of millions' players' IPs being leaked, for months, they could get sued for it. This is called PR and them doing damage control in the meantime whilst they sort their ######### out behind the scenes.

Again, it doesn't work that way.
There's an obligation for them to reveal if they've exposed your IP address. It's much, much worse if they try and cover that up, and they're not stupid enough to try and cover something like that up.

Oh boy here comes the computer scientists with degrees from Harvard University, you guys better watch out! The posts and comments are hilarious to read especially on twitter lmao everyone is an expert and knows everything about DDoS 🤣

It does not work that way.
I investigated this IP leak claim myself, its pretty shallow. How do you know the IP leak happened through DbD?

I normally avoid being negative, since I feel like it gets people no where, but I think you can understand where I am coming from after being cyberstalked and harassed/DDOSed for months, in which has had such a significant impact upon my life to where a lot of my friends stopped playing with me or cut ties altogether since it had implications to affect their lives.
This isnt me being pissed because I got DDOSed once or twice a month, this is a common occurrence for me that affects my daily life. DBD was the catalyst for this.

My general belief is that it's not fixable without some assistance from Valve, who likely doesn't care. This seems to exclusively happen on the steam version. So, if they cannot fix it, then the only other solution is denial.

Are you the only person with a functioning brain? you're speaking facts here I hope you can fight against all these drones who watches scott jund daily.

Based and factual.

Well, maybe some of those PC elitists will have more sympathy for console players now. Kidding, mostly.
You can get DDoS'd on Console at literally any point. It's not even a DBD issue.
It seems like it's a Steam issue. Are there any other reports of Steam games getting hit like this?

they obviously haven't fixed it since I got DDOS-ed TWICE while playing their game a few minutes ago

It is entirely human to be mad at someone else in time of crisis, but it wastes a bunch of time and getting mad at bHVR is not an outlet either. bHVR can only help if the leak happens through DBD. but as they investigated so far they have not found anything concrete. One thing I know tho is that blaming bHVR before they are proven guilty is a waste of our breath. People need to come together to find out how the leak works if its that.
- If you are getting DDoS'ed you need an IP change stat, check if your router can do it or ask your Service Provider.
- Once that is done, all we can do is sit, make sure everything is jotted down what happens see how long it takes to repeat.
I unfortunately have no clue myself how its done, but it can be done in a lot of ways. Review the best practises for internet security.
Thanks lads. But I know I'm the dumbest, that's why I ask questions.
I know there was a way to leak your IP if you accepted a Steam Voice Call from someone, 8 years ago. idk if it was fixed.
If its via steam, I think checking if this option is set to on in steam settings. it. might be a shot. We will see.

Because it has only been happening in my games whilst playing DBD on both Steam and Epic Games during the last few months, and I haven't had this problem with any other game, on both platforms. And some people were so blatant about it as well, let alone the amount of cheaters and bots this game has.
But you go on assuming you know everyone's experience and questioning everyone else, whilst sticking your head in the sand. I wish you the exact same experience <3

If they already have your IP address, it doesn't matter what BHVR does. You need to reset your IP address.

I just find it suspicious that it would be a Steam vulnerability if it's ONLY affecting DBD.
I haven't heard anything about CSGO being hit by a swarm of DDoS attacks.

I'm uncertain if it's related to steam or not, but Apex streamers have been getting hit with ddos recently too.
I know the Apex servers for high rank competitive lobbies specifically have added ddos protection, but that doesn't say much. Could be a new thing that gets around those server protections, or could be something that targets clients now instead, similar to DbD.
This could be coincidence, or just entirely unrelated. It does stand out to me tho that these two games at least have had a recent uptick in external ddos attacks in the past few weeks, so at minimum someone is busy out there with an awful lot of noise.

friend. I am not assuming your experience or sticking my head in the sand by asking questions that would demonstrate the problem. Please don't take it harshly. its perfectly alright to be stunned, I have no clue how its happening either. But assuming we know the answer isnt the way either, we must examine critically.

I will guess that it is a steam issue. I do not think they would lie that blatantly if people would call them out on it. Im pretty sure other steam games have experienced ddos attacks at the same time.

I did! Appreciate your feedback though, thanks! ✌️

I understand where you're coming from. That being said, I also know the servers I sadly have to play on and the certain type of players I sometimes verse. Be it killer-profiles with just numbers, completely private, and so on.
I've had 3 games so far on both Steam and 2 months ago EG as well, where the killer hadn't gotten a kill, and just as the last gen popped, I was thrown out of the game completely. Another time it was when we were about to open the exit gates. The chances of all of those disconnects from the game and their timing specifically, doesn't add up as a genuine game bug or DC due to host issues. The odds of that being so is very, very slim. Either way, I hope the Devs can actually do something about it, because it really isn't fun the way it is now.

Yeah, i've had no issue with random crashes that seem to happen only when i'm winning after i set that option to never.
I'm not confident enough to say it 100% fixes it but it does seem to help.
