COH is dead
(COH now no longer enables Survivors to heal themselves without a MedKit. Instead, increase altruistic healing speeds by 40/45/50% and the auras of all injured survivors within the Boon's range will be revealed to all other survivors).
Also featured this developer update: OverBrine was gutted, Pain Resonance was oblitterated, Dead Hard was hit with another pretty hard nerf, MedKits were deleted, Overzealous was buffed, and Gearhead was buffed
Here's the dev update

Good
The more COH in a trial, the more likely its a 4k
People need to learn how to play with Resilience

It's not even just a CoH nerf. It's a healing nerf in general. Healing will take longer, med-kits at most can provide 2 full heals with addons. Overall, damaging survivors is becoming more meaningful and killers will feel less pressured to have to commit to every chase.
Also Idk if I would call Gearhead a buff. Gearhead currently is guarantee to trigger and reveal a survivors aura. New Gearhead can reveal multiple survivor auras, but it's also possible it reveals absolutely nothing. It's still a bad perk, it's a bad perk in a slightly different way. But it still fundamentally suffers from the same issues of being tied to rng.

But it means I'll no longer hear a boon go up every match and I'll no longer have to deal with teammates who don't progress a gen until they've set up their boon in the worst possible location so them striking COH from low earth orbit is what I'm most happy about

Some pretty big changes that at least on paper looks to really shake up survivor side. Certainly some to killer side too but that CoH nerf feels huge.
I'll be curious to see how this all shakes out cause at least on quick glance, it feels like survivors really got hammered. Or maybe it just feels that way cause I use CoH because my team isn't reliable to heal me and now my main perk just got roasted 😅

I am fine with CoH being dead. I dont care about it as Killer, but I just hate it as Survivor. All this time wasted to bless a Totem which could have been spent on a Gen instead...
I dont think the Healing-Nerf is cool. 24 seconds of Healing is a long time.
But hey, cant wait to see people using Self-Care. And they will use Self-Care. With 24 seconds healing at base. While mangled. Against a Legion.

That actually used to be my jam until CoH came out.
Welcome back old friend...

I have the scene from matrix revolutions in my mind where the commando post celebrates when one if the drills goes down only for another one to breach. XD
"Drill is down"
Yaaaaaay
"Second breach"
"Dammit"
And I am just waiting here for the "dammit!" When something else remains or emerges broken/too strong. For example:
"COH is dead!"
Killer: Yaaaaaay
"Gen speeds went through the roof/our slowdown was nuked!"
Killer: "Dammit!"
Let's not celebrate too early like with the first dh Nerf.

Well, this is certainly interesting.
Definitely a huge net buff for Killers. I'm surprised DS wasn't changed.
I am sad that they continue to nerf Billy and refuse to address his abysmal collision.
5 -
Wow, that sucks. Another worthless perk for the roster.
1 -
Medkits aren't dead, they're gonna be even more meta now
Also resilience meta incoming, calling it now

Just for fun I did the maths
Nothing like taking almost a minute and a half to heal up vs Sloppy Butcher!
(That's literally more time than it takes to do a gen with a brown toolbox... absolute insanity)

90% of this update is a massive W. Overall a great update.
And then there's a random inexplicable Hillbilly nerf. I just don't understand why the devs hate this killer so much and try to make him as unfun as humanly possible. I play Billy often. I can't remember the last time I accidentally overheated. I bump into objects that aren't on my screen every single day though. They seem so unbelievably focused on low level play when it comes to Billy. You will not down a good experienced player at a loop without engravings. You don't need double engravings, but you need one. I don't understand the impetus behind the engravings nerf.

Returning to 2018 DBD's no heal meta

I'm glad COH got nerfed, I'm no longer should feel pressured to bring it as survivor and I'm hopefully no longer forced to bring Shattered Hope as Twins

More stacks of Inner Strength

Ah, nice to see. Cant wait to see teammates heal for almost the duration of a full Gen.
1 -
And they'll refuse to let you heal them when you're running Botany + We'll Make It too

Resi adrenaline is back

They heard me saying that Sadako reminded me of 2018 DBD and that's why I liked her so they decided to revive the 3 gen meta and the no heal meta like

Can't wait for the killers deadlock nwo new meta tho
Nwo now also synergizes with PR
1 -
I can live with NWO, Deadlock is just annoying
0 -
Just wait until survivors realize they can spam Iri keys with 30 seconds of killer aura reading+Windows of Opportunity and never get injured in the first place.

Can someone from the devs explain why healing needed such a huge nerf? Based on you numbers for kill / survival rates you where right on the 60/40 numbers?
0 -
Finally I can play hit and run merchant with sloppy butcher without throwing the game
3 -
Deadlock NWO Sloppy Jolt sneaking it's way into all my builds:

Yeah, CoH definitely not usable anymore. So that leaves... I think only Shadow Step.

I hate you
1 -
With the healing time increased to 24 seconds, im fearing the sloppy/coul/leverage combo
0 -
I couldn't do that tbh I cannot play without Enduring on 95% of the roster

Interesting. I like the DH nerf. Successfully triggering it once in a match is a very balanced way to make it less frustrating for killers, feel like they coulda made it easier to trigger since you only get it once a match but hey 🤷♂️
Nice to see the big regression perks taking another hit. I'm genuinely interested to see what this will do to the meta. I just hope it doesn't exacerbate the divide between low and high mmr. Lack of regression will be hard to deal with for high mmr killers and not having the CoH/medkit safety nets will cause big issues for low mmr survs.
Sidenote: got real excited when i saw pig/freddy on the list for a buff and then real disappointed when I saw they're just tweaking a couple add ons.
Edit: every killer and their mum is going to start running sloppy butcher now.
2 -
It's not one per a match though. It would be once per a match if the perk disabled itself after use, but it only deactivates. Meaning if you can meet the condition to activate it (unhooking another survivor), you can use it again.
Also it only deactivates if you successfully use it to take an extra hit.
0 -
Ah missed that in the wording. I think main thing there is it stops survs juicing too much time out of the early chases.
0 -
Ugh the amount of self care/botany knowledge people run is going to be obnoxious as well.
0 -
thank god
i didnt use many gen regression perks aside from pr, so this trade is amazing
0 -
Without Sloppy, Self-Care/Botany now takes half a generator
(Self-Care solo now takes ~68.57 seconds)
0 -
Doing anything with Botany now will take the same amount of time it previously did without it as long as no other heal speed increases are involved. A normal heal with Botany would be 16 seconds now.

what a killer heavy update to nerf survivors - I wonder if they just want a 70-80/20-30 K/S ratio or want the entire player base to move to playing killer. What can you possibly enjoy from this game anymore
1 -
I honestly dont get it either. They buffed him at Loops, but I think this is where Overheat makes the most sense. So that a player gets punished for using the Saw too often. But on the other hand they increased the Overheat while sprinting.
And this is probably the only time where I overheat - when I sprint from one Exit Gate to the other when one Survivor is left and the Hatch is closed. So this will not even change or become worse.
Let alone that Engravings did not really need a Nerf. They are his most fun Add Ons to use, this is why they are popular. So nerfing them just sucks out a bit of fun.
And I would also agree that the biggest problem of Billy is not overheating. It is all the small Objects where you can get stuck on. E.g. the Loops on Dead Dawg sometimes have little water taps or something like this. You will not see it as Killer unless you look down. Yet you can bounce into them while trying to curve.
And IMO they can remove Overheat or not, until they dont fix stuff like this (getting stuck on small Objects), they wont really make Billy more popular.

Rocking this for a few months now, glad to be a trendsetter I guess.

My biggest fear!
CoH, medkits and base healing nerfed - 24 seconds to heal. This will re-introduce a strong Wraith sloppy butcher and slugging (potentially with Knockout) meta. Solo Q will be awful, coordinated SWFs could cope but will be more difficult. CoH will no longer be the saving grace and medkits could be easily interrupted (especially with Nurse's Calling) and your healing progress gone with Sloppy.
I'm really not looking forward to this meta... and trust me it will happen if these changes go through. Once pallets are gone by gens it'll be:
- Hit
- Injure
- Leave
- Hit
- Down
- Slug
- Hit
- Down
- Slug
And so on.
Even if you're on an open gen, you won't see the Wraith coming until it's too late due to his invisibility. The new(ish) HUD will help a bit, but not totally ideal. Won't be fun.

Considering nothing is being done to address camping, tunneling and 3-genning, I think they want at least a 70% kill rate
7 -
I mentioned in another thread: the heat changes are just bizarre. Tiles are curve-able or not, so the heat changes over short distances make no sense. I'm never sitting there going through an entire heat cycle on a tile I can't curve in the first place. And I'm not giving it more than 2 attempts on a survivor that knows how to position. They really don't seem to understand how Billy plays.
1 -
Solo Q will be awful, coordinated SWFs could cope but will be more difficult.
Oh, true, this is going to widen the gap again. Great job, BHVR.
3 -
the post-patch meta be like
2 -
Does eating Pentimento flavored bones give stacks to Inner Strength? I know you couldn't Boon goes the Dynamite them but I'm not sure about Inner...
1 -
Yes, having my teammates in Solo Q spend 84 seconds self healing, only to be downed in the end anyhow is going to be great.
Seeing people instantly DC every game against legions is going to be great.
Seeing killers be even more incentivised to tunnel someone from the start (to guarantee that they can't use DH), is going to be great, we weren't seeing enough tunneling.
Seeing killers camp more (again, to make sure they can tunnel people off hook, so they can't use DH) will also be great, we needed more of that.
Seeing Solo Q over all get pretty hard nerfed, as the by far weakest group in the game, despite being over 60% of the playerbase, is going to be great.
The update did have some cool changes, don't get me wrong.
But BHVR is just killing Solo Q more and more, meaning 60% of the playerbase is probably going to be lost fairly soon. When that happens, DBD nosedives and dies within months.
What needs to happen is buff Solo Q to be as close as possible to SWF (the other alternative is to remove the ability to SWF, that 100% kills the game over night, so terrible idea), then buff most killers (except Nurse and Blight) to match the new strength of Solo Q being similar to SWF, and then we have the most balanced version of the game ever.
Instead BHVR keeps buffing killer, nerfing Solo Q, while not doing much to SWF. Pretty soon, killers and SWF will be fairly on par and balanced, but Solo Q will be dead, and with losing over half of the playerbase, the game will be dead too...
SMH.

I believe it does, just like how it used to work with Small Game to make the perk literally useless because the detection cone would hit 0 degrees.
