As expected pain res got deleted
So after the eruption change, which was completely justified but horribly executed, I and some others foresaw that pain res was gonna get nuked, when I said that a lot of people on here told me I was delusional and they won't do that, that all that was doomsaying and that we had to be realistic, LMAO all I can say is LMAO.

Pain Resonance nerf seems like overkill to me, and it is a bit of a shame. On the other hand, considering the big healing nerf, I can understand why it was nerfed so noticeably. We will have to wait and see how things play out in the ptb and when the changes hit live.
0 -
It wasn't excepted. Literally nobody asked for it to be nerfed again, not even the most hardcore survivor mains. This whole update is pure insanity anyway.
4 -
So you know when something comes so far out of left field that you're not sure if it actually did come from the left or if it snuck it's way in from the right?
That's what the PR nerf feels like. Especially with how they nerfed it.
1 -
Is it basically four uses altogether? Or four uses on one scourge hook?
0 -
Killers struggled with gen defense, since all meta slowdown perks have been nuked. So in order to address this, they nerfed healing.
Now everyone will start to play without healing, like we did against Legion and Plague. Both killers are known for their exceptional high kill rate (oh wait...)
What could possibly go wrong?!
1 -
as far as I understood is just 4 uses altogether
2 -
To be fair, one difference is that Legion and Plague don't have a power if survivor choose to not heal. Other killers all do. Also, Plague is considered a pretty strong killer as far as I know. Especially after her last buffs.
But it could still become troublesome. I am still excited for the ptb, as drastic changes like these at least mix up DBD a bit more, which has become a bit stale for me lately.
1 -
I think it will be extremely troublesome. Survivors have become way better in repairing without healing. Now there are no slowdown perks left, so... yeah. I expect really, really short matches from now on.
5 -
It could've been adjusted in a number of ways if they believed it was too powerful.
However, it was assassinated to be hard pushed out of the meta. That's the new philosophy since mid 2022.
1 -
Can’t wait to play blight against survivors who are injured the whole game. GGEZ’s in the chat.
4 -
I’m not sure I understand the nerf. Are the tokens just lost when hooking a survivor for the first time, which activates it, and then after that it just deactivates so you can only use it 4 times total? Is that correct?

In the next mid chapter patch "blight nerf announced"

I like to say all the ppl who told me they never nerf pain res after eruption bc it was a "fair" perk this: I hate to say I told you so but I told you so XD Just like I thought pain res got the hammer like so many regression perks but I will say this has happened faster than I thought. The devs don't care if a perk is fair or not, they only care about use rates and nerf things based on that. What makes this patch worst tho to me is the fact no other perk was buffed(other than gearhead but who cares about that perk when there are much better info perks in the game). At least in the last meta shack-up patch killers saw buffs to other unused gen regression perks but in this one, they nerf every last strong regression perk.
Now I fully think we are entering a gen rush meta since they over-nerf healing for survivors. I am fine with the CoH and medkit nerfs but nerfing base healing speed is taking it too far. Now we just see survivors bring prove thy self, resis, adrenaline, and a perk of thier choice(exhausted perk maybe). We going to see more BNP toolkits also I think. I don't know tbh this patch is such a mixed bag for both sides I feel.

That's not quite true. Jolt still exists, and I am not 100% convinced that PR is going to be bad after the nerf.
We'll see how effective it is to stay injured the entire match, but against killers with strong power, staying injured is very dangerous. Especially because survivors rely quite a bit on the speed boost they get after getting injured, it's one of the aspects that help them out in chase a lot to get into better positions. Being one shot takes that away.
The only thing that comes to my mind right now that might really become troubling is camping. They will absolutely have to increase the hook phase duration if they nerf healing like this, and I hope they will do so before the update goes live.
6 -
Jolt is still pretty good, especially on indoor maps.

This content has been removed.

”Checkmate”
That would be truly unfortunate. 😂

Think it will be fine since Gift of pain should be better next patch. With GoP you could just stay injured and be fine since you had DH. If DH is pushed out of the meta then staying injured is much more of a risk making GoP very good.

Yeah, this is just stupid. Just because a perk is meta doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed. This is just playing whack-a-mole, once again missing the point of why gen regression perks are meta, and while I was afraid this was going to happen, and I suppose they could have done worse to it, it's not a promising sight. Wonder how they'll kill Jolt...
Besides being a scourge hook and therefore somewhat unreliable, Pain Res gains power directly off survivor mistakes and killer momentum. If survivors are getting slammed by it one after another, they're losing the match anyway. It already had capped usages. It's healthy design. I'd much rather verse a killer with PR/DMS than a killer with CoB/Overcharge, because it's a perk combo that forces dynamic play.

I’m still waiting on kidchapter before coming back from taking a bbut
we are ONLY going to see tunneling every game now. Literally every gen regression perk has been nerfed in under a year now
there is literally no viable strategy to getting people before gens pop now. And nerfed healing just means more toolboxes. It’s like the people making these decisions don’t understand how the actually gameplay flow or psych works
killers have been saying tunneling is happening because of gen rushing so the devs buff gen rushing? It’s not even a us vs them thing by the way, it’s just a fact it’s going to happen . Period.
im glad I’m in the middle of p100ing vittorio cuz killer is going to be miserable as #########

Didnt really expected PR to be this obliterated, could see CoB and Over, but not this one.
Gen defense is mostly jolt at this point i guess.
Ruin, pop, CoB, Over, Eruption and PR are mostly out.
Guess next killer its going to bring a cool gen defense perk.

Looking forward the new meta will be : zero gen regression perks.
Healing is going to be self care+medkits. Heal speeds are going from 16 seconds to 24 seconds which means if you use sloppy Butcher those heal times will go to 30 seconds.
New Self Care base will be : 39.6 seconds. Make that 49.5 with Sloppy Butcher.
Jolt "works" because you combined it with other regression perks. The combo with Jolt was Pain Resonance. That's not a thing anymore so Jolt wont work.
Much like CoB+Overcharge - these perks worked well together but not so great alone. CoB did quick regression and Overcharge did long term regression. Both of these together now will be worse than either alone previously.
-"This whole update is pure insanity anyway."
The only thing that is "about time" is the nerf to med kits and DH.

To some extent this can be dealt with by stealth Killers.
In most other games when a strategy becomes dominant counters arise, targeting the meta strategies specifically, keeping them in check. The problem with what you describe though is that this strategy (repairing without healing) always works, and you only have to adjust it when playing against a counter (= stealth Killer). I feel like there is a strong chance that this will be the next "flavor of the month" complaint, stealth Killers being too oppressive.

It will be GGEZ but I don't know how fun that will be.
0 -
Maybe they can make something like a Ressurance basekit (if the killer is NEAR THE HOOK, one survivor can pause the timer) to counter killers camping to easily farm kills

Only on Indoor-Maps

The PR nerf would be fine if they reverted Pop, TBH.
Pop was a super healthy perk. You had to hook and then leave the hook to use it (obviously unless you hooked right next to a gen).
I'm hopeful that with most of the regression perks dead, they will start looking at gen speed perks and give those similar treatment.

My poor Artist :(
I don't understand their logic with this one, considering the requirements to even get the regression in the first place. They'd be better off limiting perk options into catergories and only able to pick one from each. Aura / Chase / Regression / Utility for example. Rather than dropping bombs on everything.

Pain Resonance was fine they was it was. There was no need for nerfs. But it doesn't surprise me it's getting nerfed considering it's usage rate. Because everything with a high usage rate gets unnecessarily nerfed and obliterated.
1 -
As a survivor main I'm honestly surprised it got touched. It's easily countered.

Can someone link me to the changes patch notes so I can read them?

Pain Res nerf was really not needed.
0 -
I'm calling now. Self care use rate is going to increase after this, and then is going to be nerfed as a result.
0 -
I'm scared for when they come for Surge/Jolt it might happen eventually.
If the change goes live, then I guess Pop Goes the Weasel might be good again by comparison
0 -
We haven´t seen the full list of changes. So Jolt might also getting hit hard.
On the other hand there is still We´ll make it. Which could be the new meta alongside Inner Healing. But since there are only 5 totems, We´ll make it would be the better choice for survivor.
But then again, we haven´t seen the full list of changes. So that might also change
0 -
How about this: once all 4 survivors have been hooked give the killer another round of tokens and raise PR regression to 20%. Essentially they get 8 uses if they go for 8 hooks on 4 different survivors and play for the long game, getting compensated with a bit more regression.
0 -
But we have all more or less wanting meta shifts in the game not having the same perks again and again. So in this sense everyone have asked for nerfs to this perk and gen kick perks, DH, COH and so on.
0 -
This isn't surprising. They nerfed healing so had to nerf the gen perks. I don't really care what they do anymore because I've already stopped playing. I was curious about these changes after I heard about them on discord (for a different game). Just stop playing if you are unhappy.
0 -
How many times did Pain Res get triggered on average per trial?
0 -
Me too brother. And boy were we right.
1 -
The fact that they nerfed Billy addons and blight / mdr spirit's addon are left untouched is questionable to put it gently
0 -
So now my Artist has no real regression option that doesn't require a kick. Also hurting my DMS build which that perk also get's affected from the change. It's funny to me that they introduce new perk categories such as scourge and boons and end up gutting them that even a charity shop wouldn't want it in that state.
