Pre-PTB Dev Update Thoughts and Opinion
I am a 50/50 player so I'm going to do my best to try to not be too biased on one side. But anyway, this is just simply my opinion if you want to discuss about it in the replies go ahead but this is just my opinion and some things are concerning and some things are great, simply put.
Bloodweb Improvements are great.
Visual Terror Radius is great, I just have one comment. I am not hard of hearing, but there's one thing about the game that I just wanted to point out. I feel like the noises when a Survivor is sacrificed on Hook is way too loud, it overshadows the Terror radius which means that I might start running it even though I am not hard of hearing or death. I want the Deb's to consider making the sacrifice noises a bit quieter so that way I can hear the Killers Terror radius a little bit better.
From what I understand the reworks for Autohaven will make it better for Killers and still throwing a bone for Survivors with less dead space in blood lodge. Good changes.
Healing speed being decreased at 24 seconds in general is not a bad change inherently. I just believe that healing perks like Botany knowledge and We'll make it will become extremely popular. And if this was purposely done just so it can be more in the meta because for some reason those two perks are not as popular as they should be, then that's understandable. Healing yourself considerably slower is unfortunate, and if this is what's going to happen I seriously recommend that you guys buff self-care a little bit because 35% of 24 seconds is way too slow for anyone to use in their right mind and it makes using botany knowledge and desperate measures alongside it almost absolutely recommended and still not completely worth it.
I also believe nerfing altruistic healing speeds from medkits is completely ridiculous. Barely anyone actually uses med kits to heal other survivors faster unless they have less than a full charge required to use it. This number should not have been changed whatsoever, because if they had kept it or maybe even buffed the altruistic healing speeds people would start using med kits on each other much faster, while still making self-healing with a medkit preferable. Also, for what I'm reading is correct and all med kits will now only have 24 charges and only truly affect healing other survivors, that's a huge problem as well. I would completely understand if only the purple med kit would give you two heals max, but still.
Overall, while I believe nerfing the healing speed of 24 seconds will make healing not as terrible for a lot of killers, please I would differ on nerfing altruistic healing speeds as well. This can also make healing perks much more popular which can actually sort of in some situations make healing worse for Killers, in dedicated groups and builds.
Having flashlights no longer affect all of the killers and changing Hag's kit so that way survivors can still get rid of her traps as a completely welcome change and I totally agree with it.
Gearhead, Overzealous buffs are good and overall healthy. Dead Hard and Pain Resonance nerfs in my personal opinion are relatively fine, especially Dead Hard, although I'm not sure if the nerf to pain resonance is exactly the best possible nerf that they could have been it but it isn't that bad so.
Call of Brine and Overcharge nerfs are clearly only to shake up the meta, so I'm not completely bothered about it generally. Circle of Healing is now practically dead which sucks but this was probably just to change the meta so I'm not gonna complain about it too much. The only problem I have is because healing speed is already getting slower anyway, why? They're going to self heal themselves slower anyway.
I'm not going to completely rant and rave about all of the add-on changes, some of them are okay, some of them are a little bit dumb, but like pretty much everyone has been saying, you're nerving the Hillbilly again by nerfing the 2 only really good add ons. I don't get it. Like I really don't get it. It really does, as some people have mentioned, feel like you're only just looking at the numbers instead of the actual health of the add-ons because those two add-ons are the only really good add-ons for Hillbilly in general. Nursing dumb makes hillbilly just, I don't get it. It's basically like nerfing the Nemesis Marvin's Blood add on because most people were using it because it was basically one of the only great add-ons for him. At this point I just wonder if you guys are setting up for a hillbilly rework or what because this is really stupid. In short, do not nerf these add ons. Instead, BUFF his other add ons that NO ONE USES.
The rift and tome stuff I don't personally care about so I'm not going to talk about it.
Overall, a lot of stuff I am excited for, and I am going to give most of these a chance but some of the stuff that I've listed just have so many problems with it, especially the medkit nerfs and the hillbilly nerf that I have the biggest gripe with.
Again, it is just my opinion but from what I understand, I think most of the people agree with the last paragraph? I don't know. You guys can talk about it in the replies, I will try to listen out for everyone's opinion because I do want to give everything a chance. But I feel like this PTB might create more polarizing opinions than 6.1.0.
Also, the fact that the Skill Merchant is not getting touched whatsoever this mid chapter is really unfortunate because she has generally felt worse since 6.6.2 but I guess maybe you guys are doing something about her right now if you just can't push it out for the mid chapter.
Anything huge that I forgot or any typos I made I completely apologize for. I am basically speaking all of this from voice to text so lol

I feel like this might be the most neutral opinion about this developer update in this forum rn lol

I'm with you, and it's kind of hilarious watching all the tantrums fly right now.
I think these changes are largely good. The right targets are there, but maybe some issues in execution.
I'm a little concerned that the nerfs to healing all round might be a bit too stacked, with base healing speeds, Medkits and CoH all at once, it might prove to be a little too big of a change, as these will have compound effects. Particularly as an increase to healing speeds is an indirect buff to the likes of Sloppy Butcher and Coulrophobia, which could already be used for heal-denial builds on the right killers. Not to mention this is also a huge nerf to Self Care as well, which didn't deserve the nerf it got in 6.1 as it is.
I'd say reduce the heal time from 24s to 20s, and it might be ok.
Dead Hard, is the right sort of nerf, reducing the incidence rate of it, how many times a killer sees it in one game, is what was needed. But is it too much? I run unhook builds all the time, for Renewal and We'll Make It (gonna be great now btw), and I can tell you that scoring the unhook can be really tricky when you need it, there's always another survivor closer.
Pain Res is also getting a fairly substantial nerf, but, it's just the sort of nerf that's needed, just like Dead Hard. It encourages spreading hooks. But now you need to make sure that the first time you hook any given survivor is on a Scourge, if that one single hook can't be made on a Scourge, you've lost 1/4th of your perk. It probably shouldn't be a Scourge perk anymore with these changes.

The dev notes are pretty clear that you only lose a token the first time a specific survivor is hooked on a scourge hook.

This is why I believe they should make Pain Res a normal perk instead of a Scourge Hook with this nerf.

They should make dead hard activate after unhooked not when you unhook someone as that nerf means you should tunnel to avoid going after survivor who has dh.
I think they went overboard with the healing nerf they should in my opinion nerf less. Med kits definetely needed nerfed. I think gens should been increased to 100s as regression perks got nerfed as well. Pain res definetely didn't need anything it was fine they could just make it not stack with dms to lessen it popularity.
