How do you dodge a basic attack

With what hit validation is right now I can forget trying to vault so how do you dodge just a simple basic attack since if I'm facing a Nurse that's not a basic attack if I face a Blight also not a basic attack so basically how am I supposed to dodge just a basic attack.

    It's hard to know exactly what you feel the issue is. If the killer has chased you down and is close enough - unless you're able to do a quick spin (not going to work on many players), most of the time you won't be able to dodge the attack as the killer has got you into position to get that hit - which is the way of the game.

    If you mean vaulting windows - windows are not a safe haven, killers are meant to still be able to hit you, even through the window as there's no blocker there for them if the survivor is close enough to the window. You can also fake the window vault, not guaranteed to work all of the time, but a good fake has won me a few chases.

    There's a tome challenge where you have to dodge basic hits. And I'd like to know how, too, TBH. I think, in the past, I've kind of cheesed it by standing near the killer while the killer hit somebody else, but I'm not sure if that still works.

    You can try with breakout and stand in front of the killer as he's going to a hook. It works for me :D

    Really? Because I tried exactly that and 3 times the killer swung at me and didn’t hit and I did never get any progress when killer was carrying someone. Same for my partner..


    i got one count for dodging at the exit gates for leaving while the killer tried to hit me though.

    Same thing, I usually get those challenges done while the killer is carrying a survivor, but for the latest tome it didn't work and I figured the change was intended. I had to do the old fashioned "eratically spinning around and hope for the best" but if that doesn't work out for you, you can also use sprint burst to do the challenge.
