Achievement hunting in DbD!

Recently I've decided to go for achievement completion on Steam.

I'm at 69% (nice) with 154/221 achievements done and until last week, I never really tried to go for achievements at all. I think I've mostly been discouraged by some of the achievements that either require the stars to align (Evil Incarnate), require skills I don't have (Skilled Huntress) or simply take forever on killers I don't play (500 blink hits as Nurse, 1000 hatchets, 100 tier-ups as Myers, 100 trap grabs as Trapper, ...).

Being the way that I am, I like to start with the absolute hardest stuff first so that the rest of my journey can only get easier. So I started with Evil Incarnate and actually got it on my third attempt. Then I decided to go with my second hardest achievement, Skilled Huntress, and managed to farm that with some friendly survivors. Now I'm super slowly working on the 500 blink hits with Nurse but it's not really an enjoyable experience.

I have noticed that the early killers have these bonkers achievements, while the more recent additions have super doable achievements instead, so I think it's mostly a matter of getting the earlier ones out of the way first.

I'd like to use this post to discuss which achievements you guys find hard or annoying, which strategies you used to get them, if you're going for completion or not, ... Anything and everything achievements!

I haven't yet tried to achievement hunt in DbD, I did it in other games I liked but those were mostly single player (HZD & Hollow Knight for example), so I'm sitting at around 50% achievements gotten by simply playing through the game.

I don't think I will achievement hunt in DbD because that would require me to get all DLCs, and as much as I like the game, I'm fine with the ones I got and I'm not looking to add to the collection as of yet.

I'd hate that Nurse achievements as playing her makes me motion sick, so that's one I'd never get for sure.

Evil Incarnate I feel like could be manageable, since I'm pretty low mmr so not only the survivors aren't too skilled, they're also rarely unkind to me.

Weirdly enough, the achievements I would apprehend the most would be all the survivor achievements. I rarely escape as is by using builds I like, so being confined to 3 base perks and escaping sounds really tedious to do on all survivors. The only reason I got Haddie's, my latest survivor main, was by a Bubba giving me hatch, so that should say something in how painfully slow the process would be.

(I've been told to cheese it by getting strong squads to help me, and I don't want that. I want those achievements to be, well, achievements, and to improve, not let myself be carried through them).

Also, Outbreak Breakout. I hate playing that map as anything else than Hag and needing to actually open the gate seems like a hassle when most of my games do not see the gates being even powered.

The killer achievements I have not struggled as much to get when I tried for the few killers I regularly play (Legion, Ghostface, also snagged Clown and Nemesis), so I wouldn't worry too much about them. Some would be very unpleasant to get (like Nurse in my case, also I'd probably have to lose a decent number of games to get my Hag one since I was foolish enough not to hunt for it while Ruin was not yet ruined), but I don't think they'd make me want to tear my hair out or take an extended break.

    I have Skilled Huntress.

I'm scared to do the Nurse one where you have to do a series of blinks and land a Grab.

I believe I'm currently sitting at 201/221. Most of the ones I'm missing are killer adepts (even tho I main killer lmao). Im also missing a few like down people with longshots as huntress, kill 4 people in evil within 3, chain 3 blinks and grab someone and open an exit gate and escape RPD 20 times.

Hi. I have all the achievements and the survivor ones I did in soloq. Feel free to ask me anything if you need tips. Some missions have changed for the better, especially with the hatch rework and the retiring of Stranger Things. So, when I did them they were on hard mode compared to now and what I went through might not be so relevant anymore.

Most of the killer ones can be farmed, if you're really having trouble with them. Although, I did them the hard way. So, I can help with that because there are many spicy ones.

I'd say the most obnoxious achievement out of the recent ones is Outbreak Breakout.

The most difficult one in general, especially in solo, is Left for Dead.

Currently missing 2 survivor achievements and still burning RPD offerings.

There are some hard ones for killer like 3 blink nurse grab and Evil incarnate but after those it's smooth sailing as they mostly come naturally.

Survivor achievements are more annoying overall but easier to get (at least for us) as it's mostly just playing a certain way, with a certain perk, or on a certain map. No trying something completely awkward and tossing matches. The escape RPD X times SUCKS though.

I got all them in completed a few months ago. I got the ones that people struggle with mostly completely on accident - like the Disturbed Ward one or escaping when you're the last survivor and complete the last gen. Most achievements I just got naturally playing the game but there were some that I had to grind for. I struggled so hard with the RPD one... that it was absolutely miserable to do.

Likewise, the achievements with the Killers I really hate. Like the Michael Myers achievement with tiering up 300 times, even though you can get about 4 to 6 per match easily just took forever and I really think he's so incredibly boring so I could never like grind it either without feeling burnt out after like two matches.

I ended up just farming for the skull merchant one, which I think is the only one I actually ever cheesed, and got it done in a couple matches and I'm incredibly glad to never ever ever ever ever ever touch her again.

I wish you and everyone else look on their journeys!!

Have they fixed Evil Incarnate? There was a time where the fourth sacrifice / kill you made by any means just didn't count for whatever reason, and it affected this achievement. No idea if it's still lile that, though.

Other than that, Skilled Huntress is the sole achievement / trophy that kills my motivation for 100%. At least on PS5, the requirement is 100 downs, which is a ridiculous amount. Any tips for that one would be appreciated (for example, an easy way to gauge how far 24 meters is supposed to be).

Currently missing 5 Achievements. The 3 Adepts from the latest Chapter (did not bother with those), Thrill of the Chase, where you have down 10 Survivors who got exposed by the Lock-On mechanic and Skill Huntress.

And I know that I will take ages for Skilled Huntress. Because I am not a skilled Huntress.

I'm missing a bunch of killer achievements because I either don't own the killer or just don't care to play as them to earn the achievement. The killers I enjoy playing I got the achievements for and that's enough for me.

I didn't think I'd get all the survivors ones I do have. Left for Dead trophy I got because I had a team basically give up after 1 or 2 gens was completed v a Freddy on Hawkins. Freddy decided to let me do the remaining gens and escape through the door. The old escape with 4 survivors through hatch I lucked out with when playing solo, hatch happened to be near the open door and the randoms were waiting for me on top of the hatch as I was chased by the killer.

Hiding Seeker and Outbreak Breakout are two that if I ever finish it will be from luck since I'm not trying to complete them. I tend to not hop in a locker mid chase unless I'm running Head On or it was an accident. I usually die on RPD or someone else opens the gates before I can.

I think the achievements that require you to run add ons like 3 blink Nurse grab or Tombstone Myers kills or require specific items like needing a key for the old 4 escape through hatch are the most obnoxious. I'm not a fan of achievements requiring you to bring specific items/addons to complete. Not only do you need the bloodweb RNG to help you out with getting the item/addon before you even ready up but you need the game RNG and match to go your way as well.

Same haha, I've been forcing myself to play Nurse and I'm now at 200/500. It's taking forever.

I farmed the 20 Huntress hits with a friendly bunch of survivors that somehow understood what I was doing.

Outbreak Breakout I'm at 10/20! I feel like that's an achievement that very very slowly achieves itself... Which isn't really fun.

This is going to sound boring, and it's not really an achievement this way, but it's super easy to do in a farm game. :)

Let them know you're friendly, blink around a bit for funsies and then oops, I grabbed you. I don't like to get achievements this way but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.

I love this! Congrats on getting them all!

I would love to hear your advice for Rescue Mission (5 pallet saves), Outbreak Breakout (did you have a special build or strategy for it?) and Expert Generalist (which two perks did you take?).

I luckily got Left for Dead a long time ago when a friendly Billy decided to let me go!

I've never played Skull Merchant, was kinda hoping that one would come naturally. :')

I totally agree on the Myers achievement. I'm at 12/300 and I'm already fully hating it. Some of those early achievements have such insane numbers.

They have fixed it, I got it last week!

For Skilled Huntress, I farmed it, and an easy way to tell the distance is Devour Hope (24 meters from a hook) and Nurse's Calling (28 meters, so you stay on the edge of where you can just about see their aura).

Lmao same. Even with friendly survivors who were letting me hit them, I missed so many hatchets. I'm glad I got it over with.

I'm somewhat of a completionist myself and currently I am 3 achievements away from 100%: Evil Incarnate, Skilled Huntress (4/20) and Outbreak Breakout (17/20). Right now I am preparing Myers for his, by going from P3 to P6 and focusing on the iri add-ons and Black Wards.

Most of the achievements are tedious rather than difficult in my opinion, such as throwing 1000 hatchets, getting 300 Evil Within tier-ups, etcetera. That one made me stop playing Myers for a while, I got so bored of thim that I paused getting that achievement for some time.

The truly evil achievements like Left For Dead or Hemophobia require more luck than anything, I think. I remember getting LFD because a Ghostface decided to have mercy on me after a 3K, and let me do the last gen and escape through the exit gate. For Hemophobia I left my SWF behind, a debt I have since repaid in full.

It definitely helps to have all perks available on all killers, some killers do things better than others. Doctor, for example, is my go-to 'make survivors scream' killer. Same goes for survivor, having everything on at least one of them and you can make any build around specific actions.

Evil Incarnate is not a bug, just unclear wording in the description. You have to tombstone the survivors, no other method counts.

There's a lot of clutter in maps nowadays which doesn't make Skilled Huntress any easier. Glowing Concoction with Lethal Pursuer combo is your saving grace.

Usually survivors like to play the hatchet dodge game inside the exit gates and you can get a bunch of progress.

Or, you can wait for an unhook with a Iri hatchet fully charged, like a certain dev who shall not be named did on stream. Bonus if you use Floods of Rage and Devour to know you're a the correct distance.

There was also the method of just waiting for a slug to get picked up at the edge of Nurse's Calling range or Deerstalker t2.

Probably not the most engaging, but sometimes you have to save your sanity.

    Hi! Thanks!

I did Rescue Mission with Power Struggle/Unbreakable. Probably not going to be super useful with the upcoming update, given how long recovery will take to trigger PS. And my solo teammates often wasted my pallet. You can still try that, especially if there are flashlights in the lobby, which will buy you more time on the ground. Otherwise, it's going to be a little bit of a pita and also involve a good deal of throwing, but I would probably use Background Player (speed boost so you can wait for the pick up in a good spot) Empathy (to know where the rescue needs to happen) and Windows of Opportunity (to ascertain if they went down in a pallet without wasting time. Plus, it's a nice perk).

Outbreak Breakout, I used Sole Survivor (exit gate open) Spine Chill (really made the difference to monitor the patrol and know when to go for the gate switch) Self-Aware and Inner Healing (keep it in the pocket until the end, see next point) and a medkit. Low Profile didn't work that well, because I kept running into killers who slugged for the 4k and then also camped the hatch for a good amount of time. So, having a way to heal myself in the endgame was more important. I found Wake Up to be redundant and the math confirms it. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the exit gate fixed locations in a bot match and with the paths and hiding spots. The gate that is not the main hall one is often the better choice.

Expert Generalist is a rework that didn't exist back then. However, there are likely a handful of combos that would work. I'd probably use Self-Aware and Lightweight. It's one total generator. So, that can be split across multiple ones. If you just work solo (no coop) you know you're gtg when you got 1250 bp in the objective category, provided you didn't do anything else.

    Glhf!

    Missing some of harder achievements

Evil Incarnated mainly due to just the fact people can hide in lockers or DC plus with how matchmaking treats me I can barely get it

Skilled Huntress is mainly because I barely play Huntress and I'm good at aiming with her.

Most of the other achievements are just grinds or I got them out of just pure luck

From the void she kills is one where you sorta have to shut your brain off and somewhat focus on just getting the achievement and if it still was the same Where did they go? You needed a SWF or luck.
