I Don't Like The Meta Shake Ups
I know that changes to the game and perks are necessary, I'm just sharing some thoughts, like I think Bhvr has been over doing it. As always, please share what you think in the comments. This is just my opinion.
I feel like the last meta shake up was kind of forced, they could have buffed some of the more useless perks instead of making the more meta perks now useless.
Iron Will for example was fine. It's not like you couldn't hear footsteps, it wasn't OP, Off The Record gives you the same effect. It's pretty much useless now, I can easily hear certain survivors, although I will admit it's still useful on characters like Ace, and Ada, maybe Cheryl. I just think the entire nerf wasn't needed, and if it really was needed, they could have only made it so it doesn't function while exhausted, now its more of a stealth perk than a chase perk, or they could have only made it 75%, but both, seems unnecessary.
And DS, I feel like the only change it needed was to not work after the gates are already open, or perhaps even after all the gens are done. Nerfing DS was like buffing stronger killers who don't really need to tunnel, as much, because they will barely be affected by it. (Nurse, Blight.) Now the whole Halloween chapter feels less interesting.
They completely killed Self Care, and it's amazing they murdered Self Care so long before CoH. It honestly feels like Self Care is gonna kill lower MMR solo q games, especially now. Maybe I'm wrong about that, but still. Self Care is dead.
I think the buffs to almost all the perks were the only thing Bhvr needed to implement. (except Eruption that was annoying.)
Another thing I wanted to mention is it was a little bit of a bad idea to mush Iron Will into Off The Record, cuz now killers can hear if the survivor has Off The Record or not so they can tunnel. Feels like you do have to run Off The Record now.
They're doing another meta shake up, I really do feel this one isn't needed, except arguably the CoH nerf, CoH was never a balanced perk to add in the first place I'm not sure what they were thinking, and the med-kits could be pretty nasty, I think it is going overboard though and I'll talk about that.
Yes CoH is most likely dead, but there is no point in trying to balance it. Maybe all boons are dead now, because they are usually used to compliment CoH.
Dead Hard is most likely dead, but I have mixed feelings. I have had games where DH is a problem because you are punished if you swing, but also punished if you don't, but now it's much easier to wait out, and it takes much more skill. I haven't used it since the last meta shake up, which is very sad because I kind of loved it, but now it feels like to use it my ping needs to be perfect. If it only activates after you unhook someone it may be one of the worst exhaustion perks, we'll see. People may be off gens fighting to get the unhooks O.o. The one issue is, I would 100% rather go against DH than what survivors will likely flock to, Sprint Burst. This update may be pain. Another factor to mention is that if DH is used less it may be easier to use bc killers won't wait it out as often.
I'm very upset about the Pain Res nerf. I'm sure it'll be okay, but I been using it with Jolt to help motivate me to learn chase with certain killers, and really especially depending on the map, M1 killers need all the slow down they can get. Some people have said a more balanced nerf would be if you got a token for Pain Res every time you hook someone on a non scourge hook. I think with the RNG nature of the perk only being able to use it 4 times may kill it. We'll see.
And last of all, the healing nerf, I am not gonna lie, the game had problems with healing, something needed to be done, but I feel like killing CoH was good enough as a start. Making healing 24 seconds base kit may be a huge mistake, think about 2 survivors healing at hook, they could almost finish a whole gen in that time, now mix that with sloppy, solo q, strong killers, hit and run killers. They nerfed med-kits, but now survivors may feel like med-kits are their only fighting chance, so we'll see nothing but med-kits anyway.
Of course, I expect some major changes from the PTB, but again, these are just my thoughts. I wanna hear your guy's thoughts on meta shake ups, especially this one. I honestly don't think there's a huge issue with a meta, some familiarity is good. The game will likely never be perfectly balanced, and I feel like the more Bhvr tries, the more they remove fun mechanics. At this point I'm thinking, maybe they should just lean into the horror element, add some new game modes, some quality of life changes, and call it a day for now.
Also literally no one asked for them to nerf Billy and not Blight.

Also Ruin is dead and I miss it dearly. Not even sure it's worth being a hex.

The problem with buffing perks is that it can lead to power creep. If each perk has to be better than the meta perks end up having way more impact than they should. Even then overzealous and Gearhead are getting great buffs
It feels like perks win games as opposed to skill

That's actually not a bad point, but I think buffs like Saboteur, and Light Weight were spot on.
