What if: Survivors had Built In Perks

I know for the most part survivors are just "skins" but I honestly would love it if there was a little more nuance to a survivor than just their height/volume. I main Jeff, and dude is a freaking MOUNTAIN. I would be more than OK with having a built in stat/perk that makes him more of a challenge to take down, with the cost being hes slower or unable to crouch/stealth. (Maybe all those years as a rodie dissolved his knees, IDK)

Characters like Meg have their perk Sprint Burst, sure, but her lore she was literally a TRACK RUNNER. Maybe sprint burst on her could have an extra 4s? Or she could use it twice?

I know this makes for a massive onslaught of balancing and adjustments etc and will NEVER HAPPEN but its fun to think about IMO.

I dont see how Jeff, this massive dude, goes down in the same amount of hits as tiny Feng Min, or as as easy to carry as itty bitty Kate.

I think this can kind of go for all survivors. Imagine just their OWN perks having a little extra OOMPH on them? If Bill could see hatch further than others with Left Behind, or if he could use Unbreakable a 2nd time. What if Feng Min always had Alert, just built in, being an in-tune gamer that she is.

As a Jeff main, I'd GLADLY give up some speed/stealth for an extra hit, or a built-in Boil Over, or heck--if Breakdown was just a built in perk he had because again-- HAVE YOU SEEN HOW BIG HE IS?

What kind of stats/built in perks would you think your main should have?

Im not sure you understand the concept. You cant pick a built-in perk, it just comes with the character, and a lot of them would have a draw back. If you mean like everyone would be running David to have an extra long Dead Hard or something--I doubt it. Plus, the built-in stuff may not even be perk related.

What if male characters could heal just a teeny bit faster? Or could bleed out a teeeeeny big longer--biologically speaking, men hold on average a pint more of blood than women. So it would make sense for them to take longer to bleed out or go into dying state.

I just find it a little dull survivors are, for the most part, same thing other than loudness/height.

This only works in games that restrict the same character from appearing twice in a match. And that have much smaller rosters. DbD was built around survivors being skins and can't go in the other direction even if the devs wanted to do so.

Yeah sweaty players tend to ruin the actual fun of things, I get that. But for the sake of the CONVERSATION, because in my original post I said I know this would never happen--the balancing alone would be a nightmare--what kind of benefits/stats do you think each survivor would have, or what drawbacks they'd have to pay for their perks?

Again, this is all precedented on knowing this will NEVER HAPPEN, I just wanted to know what kind of things y'all think the characters would get as their built in perks. It was su pposed to be a fun conversation.

I actually do like the idea and I myself have given thought about it. So, for the sake of fantasizing, let's talk. But keep in mind that my knowledge of character lore is almost non-existant (I read all the backgrounds once but I've forgotten pretty much all of them and the archives advance way too slow)

Dwight - Excellent skill checks while repairing grant an extra 1% progression. Vaulting speed is reduced by 5%.

Meg - Runs 2% faster but take 2% more to heal.

Claudette - Heals 2% faster but moves 5% slower.

Jake - Unhooks 3% faster but repairs 2% slower.

Nea - Recovers from falling and dropping pallets 10% faster but her hook timer depletes 3% faster.

Laurie - Movement and vaulting while being the obsession is 5% faster but 5% slower if not.

Ace - Has an extra 3% chance to escape hook but takes 5% longer to search chests.

Bill - Recovery from bleeding is 3% faster but recovering from exhaustion perks take 5% longer.

Feng Min - Skill checks windows while repairing are 5% broader, skill checks while healing are 10% more difficult.

David King - Recovers from body related status effects 10% faster but takes 10% more time to heal.

Quentin - Recovers 3% faster from mind satus effects but 5% slowlier from body ones.

Kate - Struggling while being taken away is 1% more effective, unhooking takes 5% longer.

Adam Francis - Scratch marks left by Adam are visible for 5% less time, but his moaning when injured is louder.

Jeff - Unhooking or sabotaging takes 10%less time, but his hook timer depletes 5% faster.

Jane - Moaning while hiding in a locker is greatly reduced, but movement while injured is 5% slower.

I'm not really that familiar with ohter survivors to say anything about them, but Mikaela likely would have something related to totems, and Yui (I think) with pallets, things like that.

Also, I was thinking of granting charms a tiny bonus too, to alter slightly how the survivor / killer plays, like granting +1% to repair, or heal or things like that. But I know all of this would break the game, so yeah, it's only just for fun and fantasizing.

It just invites new balancing issues, and I'd rather it didn't.

What I've suggested before though, is having different survivors grant different BP bonuses to certain action categories, like Dwight getting +20% objective BP, and +10% altruism, while David gets +20% to Boldness and +10% to altruism, Claudette gets +30% to Altruism, etc.

Maybe if they added a different game mode. It's a nice thought but probably would be a balancing nightmare and also survivor characters would end up powercreeping each other sooner or later.

Feng Min ability - Wardrobe, allows Fend to change costumes by interacting with a chest while the game is ongoing.

BHVR, the money will just roll in!

To the OP, as you said, it will never happen. For something like that to occur I think the game would have needed a totally different design philosophy.

We already see the same meta build used over and over again. The same would apply to survivors themselves

    Always wanted that to be a thing. Think it could have worked, especially teams could only pick each character once per trial to avoid a full team of Feng's for example. 3 perks plus there built in perk would have been cool. Specialisties could include;

    Gen repair speed

    Healing

    Vault + Crouch speed

Chest speed + rare item boost

10% chance of a free dead hard once per trial (tough guy)

    2% running speed

    Faster exhaustion recovery

    Saboteur

    BP bonus

    Hugely reduced scratch marks

    Etc etc
