Just A Reminder, It's Been 4 Years Since 60 FPS Was Promised
All the way back around this time in 2019, BHVR told us they were going to get the game running at 60 FPS for Xbox One, PS4 and low-end PC's. Unfortunately, those Dev Updates appear to be gone. I've found mentions to them but they no longer appear to exist.
It's been a long time since then and performance has managed to become worse.
The game still has horrendous optimization issues and lacks basic features that are industry standards now. Even on Xbox Series X and some higher-end PC's, the game struggles at times with frame drops and freezing.
I suppose I'd like an update on how that process is going and if my suspicion is correct. Have those plans been scrapped entirely? I think BHVR owes it to the people still playing on those systems to be honest with them about their role in DBD's future.

You see the foundation of DbD's engine is held together by wooden picks and elmer's glue.
They could take incredible amount of time to perfect the 60 FPS but with all the new content being added in it won't happen as quickly as you think.

xb1 is 10yo hardware, its time to move on.
game works fine on series. fps drops only in a couple of location -- specifically i remember 2: basement in strode and the tower in eerie.

DBD is a 7 year old game made prior to even the Xbox One S coming out.
Also, main room Lerys. Various spots on RPD and Garden of Joy. Main building on Borgo. Near the cars on Haddonfield etc etc

I'm well aware. I learned a lot from my thread years ago
This was supposedly started FOUR years ago. That's over half of DBDs lifespan.

I have a mid tier CPU/GPU with plenty of ram and a fast SSD.
That being said I can't run the game at any settings higher than 1080 Medium graphics without getting dips below 60 fps.
The closest thing to a solution you can realistically get is Behavior lowering the graphically fidelity heavily, I know it sucks because I used to play on console, but the game's development is running at such high speeds that there's no way in hell that even with 3 straight months of development specifically to console optimization, they could deliver on this promise while keeping the graphics good.

Supposedly, Console is locked on either High or Ultra graphics settings.
BHVR has also told us that lowering those settings wouldn't help.
8 -
If that's the case, then it's likely a memory issue, which in that case I don't blame Behavior for being reluctant to fix it.
They can either reduce the amount of clutter on the map, giving consoles an advantage, or make the game look like Roblox-
Ok I take it back, make the game look worse than Roblox.

I also wish they would also help with the frame rates so they somewhat feel more optimized. I get tried of the lags, bugs, and what not on console too. But yeah each time a new system show up like Xbox series and Ps5, they did told us to go and buy those consoles so our systems run better. Which is interesting cause if I recall getting those systems are hard to get. But anyway no one should have to keep buying new systems to make one game feel better to play.

The only info I got from them was that it was a CPU issue that they were working on.
1 -
It was a HDD issue.
For Dbd you need a SDD and hope the next incomplete DLC isnt worsening the games performance

Untrue.
All of my clips were taken on an Xbox One X which has an Internal SSD iirc.

Even back in 2019 or when the first RE DLC came out?

Yes, even back in 2021. Both of these clips were taken using an Xbox One X with an Internal SSD.
This one is from BEFORE the RE chapter.

Don’t underestimate Roblox. There is a select few games on there that have insane graphics that and would also manage to keep my PlayStation from sounding like a jet.

What happened to the player performance thread that had more pages than the Bible? Deleted or just buried?
2 -
Buried. It's around, I just didn't have any new footage to add, so I didn't want to bring it back just yet.

I think it is time to Altered Beast that.

I don't get why DBD still doesn't have a performance/graphic mode on consoles, like other games. This would help so much when it comes to FPS. It already kinda does on PC, with changing the graphic quality.
But what can you expect from a game, which doesn't even has ingame brightness options.

I don’t think it’s a priority for them tbh. They probably have the stats of how many use old gen hardware and don’t see it as a worthy time investment compared to other things
It’s not easy to work with near 10 year old hardware in an ever evolving game with ever increasing requirements to run

It's time to upgrade🙂

The performance issues and micro-freezes are cropping up on the newer consoles as well. Pulsar listed a few of the offending maps and locations that trigger them, and over time they are slowly worsening.
The graphics aren't the big problem, there is apparently a "bottlenecking" issue they know about but it being coding & memory based is much harder to solve. This is why all platforms suffer from the same optimization issues to some degree, and why being told just get a PC or upgrade is only applying a bandaid fix.

The vast majority of the playerbase is on console, and most of them are still on the older machines and Switch. Availability of the new consoles has improved but still isn't there for everyone yet, or practical to spend money on.
This game is nearly 7 years old and most of the machines out there are capable of running games much more demanding than DBD. It is just this game that they struggle with.

I see, I know when I was on the PS4 I had performance problems big time, when I got a PS5 I didn't notice any it was a lot better.
But then again I don't play that much anymore so maybe it's getting worse. I do remember the last time I played it was on the knights map a stuttering or something happened and then a few seconds later I got kicked for the match. That was a couple of months ago all the other matches I played were fine.

Make no mistake, the Series X and PS5 have the power to brute force the game.
The issue is that when games like Battlefield 2042 and Elden Ring run way better.
3 -
Yeah, I don't play much anymore so it's hard to tell when I do play I know it's 10 times better playing on the PS5 then it was on the PS4.
When I was on the PS4 The Last Of Us part 2 ran 100 times better then DBD did.
