Can't merge steam/epic accounts

Currently on the cross progression merge page, trying to add the 300+ hours progression i have on epic to steam. Whenever i click Merge on either steam or epic it just says "failed" and gives the popup message of "You need to connect to the game using this egs/steam Account before performing this action". I have updated both games, tried keeping the game running at the same time as i click merge, and have completed the tutorial it has on steam and it still gives me the message. i have plenty of time on epic, and about 1.5 hours on steam. I linked the accounts a while back, so maybe that affects it somehow. if anyone has a suggestion on how to fix this, that'd be great cause id rather not have wasted money buying the game on steam if i cant play it there (:

    As far as I know do not need to run the game(s) in the moment you try to merge them. When I did it i also got an error message and just needed to wait half on hour or something and it worked.

    I tried it multiple times over the course of the past 3 days, still not working for, as far as i can tell, no reason. Just tried again rn, and still didn't work. i would contact support, but im not creating a third f**king account to try and get help. (find it pretty stupid that u need a different account for the forums, account, and support page). if i can't get a fix in the next few days, ill just remove both account and relink them in 2 months. If it doesnt work at that point, i doubt ill give enough s**ts to do anything about it.

    you can just submit a support ticket without creating an account as far as I am aware..

    You can't, I tried using the link you gave me, and the official support website, both of them require u to make an account. So I'm fine with just waiting for someone to respond either here or on steam.

    i had the same exact issue and i solved it so what i did was contacting bhvr and i got this response,

    1. Launch Dead by Daylight on all platforms to make sure all accounts are using the same game version.
    2. Complete all tutorials in all related platforms, if there's any missing.
    3. Make sure all instances of the game are closed before trying merging.

    and i did everything they suggested and it didnt solve the problem, but it was part of the solution i believe, after that i played 2 killer games and 1 survivor game then I disabled beginner mode on the settings.

    then i tired the merge again and it worked for my Epic account.
