Is the game killer sided?
My friend is confident the game is killer sided, and I tried arguing with her that it's the complete opposite, but she still thinks survivors have a much harder time than killers. Thoughts?

Get them to try a weaker killer for a while until their mmr is raised then see what they think lol

It's matchmaking-sided.
Nothing matters, your game is predetermined by the matchmaker.

Depends if you play to win or not.
If as killer you want to win and tunnel everyone out, then it's killer sided if you do it properly vs weaker survivors (weak links).
If you play for hooks, survivors will have an easier match if they bring strong toolboxes or gen perks to speed everything up and you won't be able to catch up as killer.
Rarely you'll find out very close games where the killer plays for hooks and everyone is on death hook but survivors aren't quick on gens and there's 1 gen left, making the match a but more on the edge for both sides.
Map offerings can change drastically the match too. If I want to play Ghostface on an indoor map, I will have an incredible advantage making the match more killer favoured.
If as survivor I decide to bring a Badham offering, I'm asking for the killer to DC, making the game more survivor favoured.
It's a bit of a mixed bag based on how everyone decides to play. It can be killer sided, survivor sided or (rarely) balanced.

Killer sided in lower levels but very survivor sided once they know what to do in higher levels of play. Unless the killer is blight or nurse. Even if the game would be killer sided it would still be by far harder role the game is 1vs4 after all.

Going by the last stats BHVR released, the game is slightly killer-sided.

IMO it all depends how experienced the player is. For newer players it would be killer sided since most survivors are just bad, either they can't loop, being too slow doing objectives, etc. For much more experienced players it flips quite hard becoming very survivor sided since they know what to do, how to loop, waste killers time and getting gens done very quickly.

In low Rank Yes it but in Mid and High Rank hell no the Game is cleary Survivor Sided
At High Rank its Really to win whit a killer that isnt Nurse or Blight
Ur Friends Need to play some Killer Games until she is playing against Good Survivor or sweaty SWF Groups and then she will that the Game is cleary Survivor Sided

Its neither killer or survivor sided.
There are several factors that have to be considered before you can give a definitive answer

Overall, the killer is a bit killer sided. The official stats (though not fully accurate) show that overall killers have 50%-60% kill rate.
However, the game can often be straight up unfair to the killer in terms of coordinated survivors, maps, and even rng spawns of tiles. At the very worst of power inbalance it sides with the survivor.

Killer sided all the way to the top 5-10%.

I would say it's moderately Killer-sided at a casual level. Not egregiously so, but it does lean that way.
It's relatively Survivor-sided at a higher level.
11 -
It's 100% killer sided at low-level MMR, and I would say it's balanced at mid-level, but it is 100% survivor sided at high-level MMR. Even if you bring Nurse or Blight, you still have to play with very minimal mistakes otherwise the survivors will win.
That's my opinion on it.

It’s killer sided if the survivors are bad, otherwise it’s extremely survivor sided.

It's matchmaking
Solo Queue is a mess... another Survivor can mess up a lot
Low "skill" messes up High "skill"... and vise versa
SWF's mess up Killer... and Killer can mess up SWF's
There's a lot to say but in the end it's up to the individual to think for themselves

The argument that the game is survivor sided revolves around a fantasy scenario that where all four survivors are extremely good in 98% of matches. It's extremely rare to see four extremely high level players in one game. Competent players are not rare but players who make no mistakes are. I wouldn't be rocking an 80% win rate on killer if everyone at high MMR was good. I very rarely run into games where I feel like I had no chance. It certainly happens but not to the degree that some people pretend it does.
If high MMR was really as hard as people say then you wouldn't see people winning 600 games in a row on killers like nurse and blight. Even lesser killers Onryo, Nemesis, Trapper, etc have documented 100+ win streaks in the MMR era. Killer is only hard if you bring meme builds and don't play to win. You have so many nuclear options as killer to stack the game in your favor. If you still lose with four slowdowns, strong addons, hard tunneling then it's a skill issue on your part. Saying every game at high MMR is a four man comp SWF is just a cope for bad players. To repeat what numerous comp players have said "high level play does not happen in public matches."
My opinion on this is biased though. I have over 3000 hours on killer which is far more than the average person who plays this game. I'm obviously not speaking from the perspective of a less experienced player. I can definitely see why more casual players would find playing killer to be difficult. Especially considering how easy it is to reach the soft cap and end up facing sweaty teams.

Uhh sorry for break your imagination.
Nobody can win 600+ in a row as a killer or even 100+, Jesus.
Where is this information coming from?

Depends what you are talking about. Survivors can play with anywhere from purple medkits and BNPs to bringing nothing. Survivors can be on comms and have coordinated their picks, or a random group running into each other with redundant perks. The only thing that changes for killer is the quality of the add ons they choose to take.
If both sides play at their 'best' (their best gear, survivors working out perks, comms) it goes toward survivors pretty heavily with the possible exception of the big three. The majority of the games though lean toward the killer because that's a pretty rare situation.

The general ranking in my experience is
Comp SWF>Comp Killer>Serious SWF>Serious Killer>Average SWF=Average Killer>Meming Killer>Soloq
Soloq makes up I wanna say minimum 40%, but I think 60% of games. That basically means the game is killer sided in the majority of games, even with meme builds.
If their MMR is raising, then they are winning matches (unless Survs are donating kills). Them raising in MMR would show Killers win more than they lose, which in turn would imply killer-sided.
You act like matchmaking doesn't bring in anyone off the street and you get a Hens-level SWF every match. 1 weak link can break the chain for survivors, and that only isn't a risk in a pre-made.
To be fair the aim of the oft-quoted 60% kill rate is taking into account a 1k facecamp in endgame still being a Survivor win, among other variables that can artificially pad kill rates.
Most accurate answer. Many lower skilled killer mains don't realize while tunneling the 7k hour uber-juicer Steve that the soloq 100hr Feng is cleansing a dull totem, then crouchwalking into basement to open the chest. The survivor HUD just confirmed my suspicions of how truly worthless my soloq teammates are in general, and that doesn't even take into account how many 'throw the game' tomes Survivors have to deal with. Even when I get a 'throw the game' Killer tome like a pseudo adept, I can just put Doctor's perks on Blight/Nurse and get the free win regardless.

There is many people who’ve won over 100 matches as killer.
2 -
Content creators. You can find their win streaks online. SupaAlf is, at last check, at a 555 winstreak with Nurse.
1 -
I think Momo is on a 835 win streak.
2 -
At "High MMR" Survivors also have to make minimal mistakes otherwise the Killer will win.
That's...literally just how high-level gameplay works in any game.
7 -
It's Entity sided. The Entity always wins.
1 -
Actually, it's bubba sided.
As long as you play seriously, there is no way to lose as bubba... unless survivors also do ACTUAL genrush, not "just sitting on gen" but ACTUAL gen rush through gen perks and items.

Low and mid MMR it's killer-sided but at high MMR it's survivor-sided.

QFT
Some people think they are better than they actually are and get upset when they get outplayed by either side. So you'll see "It's X sided!" as a coping mechanism.
1 -
I'd say it's definitely not killer someday with 4 player fairly good swf with communication. That's a whole other level not much less killers can overcome. I do think in solo play there is a slight edge to killer (I'd guess 2-3 kill average in solo play).
1 -
It's sweat lord sided.
Regardless of side, if you bring the strongest stuff you can and the other side doesn't, you'll almost certainly win.
2 -
If everyone is playing the absolute best the game will allow them to, it's survivor-sided.
But since high MMR puts players of so many different skill levels together, it depends on the game.
Very low (new player) MMR can probably be seen as killer-sided since, if the killer has any idea how to comlete his objectives, Dwight hiding off in the corner while Claudette runs around unlocking chests for a daily can easily cost other players the game.

Survivor is way easier at top MMR for sure.
1 -
To me 100% this.
The difference between lower mmr solo Q playes and SWF that know how to work is insane.
In low mmr killer destroy, in high mmr unless blight/nurse/spirit killers have a really bad time .
1 -
Sometime ago perhaps not in it's current form. Or nurse and blight so that says a lot.

People using Nurse and Blight as a basis for it being killer sided lol
Enlightening but na not really!
0 -
Yeah for real lol

Nurse and Blight = swf running good stuff while being semi efficient. Other than that it's the obvious low mmr beyond killer sided, mid mmr relatively balanced and high mmr being survivor sided. Well maybe mmr isn't the right word here but it gets the point across.

It is Survivor sided at the high level of play and sometimes at the moderate levels,
Devs need to be careful of the path they are treading though. While their matchmaking logic did reduce queue times, it means that there is a greater likelihood of mis-matching.
It would be interesting if devs could look at the playerbase numbers for both sides at different MMR ratings. Are there enough “high MMR” Killers for survivors of the same skill level and vice versa? If the answer is no, it means either side may get matched against someone not of their skill level and might lead to frustration on one side due to the skill disparity.
That frustration could be expressed in many ways such as complaining on the forums which gives rise to the us vs them mentality. Amusingly enough, the devs indirectly contributed to this with their data sharing previously (60% anyone?)

In my experience things get better once you play for a few months. I play strictly solo and reaching MMR above ground level really improved quality of my team mates. Haven't met a Closet Claudette in a while. Killers are usually ok. Except Wraiths. Wraiths are never ok.
I mainly play killers so I'm rarely emotional about getting stomped.

Why a weaker killer? Blight or Nurse would do fine and may drill the point further.

When your talking about a game's balance only high levels matter, low level players are losing because of their mistakes and lack of skill and at high levels this game is very survivor sided to the extent that 90% of the roster can barely even manage a hook before the gens pop.
0 -
yes survivor is unplayable
3 -
Respectfully, if you're friend thinks this game is killer sided, she isn't playing enough killer
1 -
contrary to popular belief, its not all rainbows and unicorns for the opposite role
sorry but both of you are wrong
0 -
It’s absurdly survivor-sided.
0 -
At high mmr it is most definitely survivor sided. Do you not agree?
0 -
Depends.
Is the Killer also "high mmr"? Are they of equal skill to the Survivors?
3 -
honestly i think mmr is a conspiracy.
you win against a 4 man "sweat" team and the next game you get put with people who have 20-30 hours.
but yeah at the so called "top level" it might be leaning towards survivor. but that depends on your arsenal (killer, addons, the map..)
1 -
At low mmr you can use a single yellow perk, no add-ons on a Billy without using a chainsaw and still get a 4k while purposely not trying.
Which is what I did last night, because I've never played Billy.
His chainsaw feels like running through pudding while someone yanks left on the mouse cable. Still didn't finish that BP mission...
1 -
Yeah, but try doing that at high level lmao
0 -
It's neither. In my experience the side that brings the stronger stuff (items, offerings, addons, killer) has a huge advantage, so the game naturally favors them.
0 -
It depends on what killers you play and addons you use.
