Show skill rating
I think BHVR should show the player's skill rating. And I have some reasons for that. Do you guys think they should show the player's skill rating?

Wouldn't this basically make players just want to sweat more? Feel this would make soloq much worse since you now see number go down when you get bad teams, and I don't see how that does anything other than increase the chances that players tilt.

never xD understands everyone! Kills = win (meaning + mmr) then you could visually achieve "high rank" ez by bubba facecamping

Yea, they should, but it ain’t gonna happen. It would expose what many of already know: the matchmaking system is completely broken because it prioritizes queue times over fair matchmaking

ppl are already sweating over a number they can't see so i imagine it can't be much worse

Do you face the strongest killers with their best builds while also playing like it's comp? Do you constantly face killers that will bleed players out at the chance for a 4k? It certainly can be much, much sweatier.

Yes but I don't want them to show the exact number since that will encourage people to sweat to get the highest mmr possible. I want them to show a rough text ranking like low, medium, high, and very high skill level so we know the skill level of players when they make bogus posts on this forum. Mmr is mostly just a way of identifying bad players. "High mmr" doesn't mean much since there's a soft mmr cap. When you hit it, being higher mmr doesn't mean much since it won't give you harder opponents.

I'll say no. I really don't care about rank in this game and neither should you. I don't want DBD to become more "competitive" than it is. But hey, if the majority of players want it, then go ahead.

I think there should be a ranked component, but not everyone should be forced into it. If everyone is in a casual queue, more competitive players are dissatisfied. If everyone's matchmaking is super accurate, more casual players are unhappy. It's impossible to rearrange the furniture in the same room to please everyone.

Yup. Not for me though, I don't care about my own. I just want to see all the people who claim they're high MMR and getting sweaty comp squads every game get a bit of a reality check.

Same.
Except, I also wanna see my own and see how I stack up. See how far I can push a flawed system.
But seeing people get ego checked is definitely a big motivator.

Yep. The main reason why I want it and I'm a killer main.

I don't main one killer right now and don't need certification to when I'm doing good or bad and the same applies for opponent. I already know. Given the nature of the game this isn't always reflected in result.
No point ranking for survivor for me as I'm only soloq currently. Same as above anyway.
The biggest challenge in this game for me is continuing to enjoy it warts and all. You can't rank that.
I've dominated number one spot in another game before. It doesn't do anything for you.

I think it's not shown since it's an entirely broken mess due to backfill system that prioritizes queue time instead of skill level.
Meaning that if someone leaves (dodges) the lobby you're in, it can give you a default p0 Dwight or a p100 Nurse and there will be no correlation since it's the result of having a faster backfill.

Nailed it.

How would they show skill levels when the game can't calculate your skill level?
It only has MMR, which is based on kills/escapes, and is not representative of skill.
1 -
If only it was an actual measure of skill and wasn't inflated by user's perks and playstyles...

Absolutely.
But only in the postgame.
No need to encourage people to lobby dodge.

Reason to show
Reason 1
“Because being able to see a player's skill rating makes for better MMR.”
Is MMR working now? no it's not working How to make it work? There are two ways to do that.
1, BHVR makes MMR work
2,Show skill rating→The player finds out that the skill rating is not working (skill rating scoring system or MMR)→Receive critical feedback from players→Become a better MMR
Which is better, 1 or 2? The answer is 2. Because if it is 1, BHVR may be lying. How is MMR now? We can't believe it when they say MMR works.Because we definitely feel that there is a difference in player level.
Reason 2
“Because being able to see a player's skill rating makes it easier to adjust the game balance for better MMR.”
MMR is broken now. And we all know that. Game balance adjustments will come later. Show the player's skill rating first. Then, what I said in reason #1 will happen. This makes it easier to adjust the game balance. That's what BHVR and players want.
Reason 3
“A lot of people (at least in my circle) prefer to be matched with teams that are a bit slower and have better quality than matchmaking with teams that are faster and have a lower quality.”
Which do you think is better: ``Fast match time → poor quality team'' or ``Slightly late match time → good quality team''?I choose the latter.By making the skill rating visible, people will enjoy DBD more if reason #1 happens. Are there DBD casual players? Yes, that's right. So if you get critical feedback from casual players, separate ranked and casual matches.Isn't the player population insufficient if you divide ranked matches and casual matches? No it's not. Splitting those matches increases the overall DBD player population. This is inevitable. Because "it's going to be a game that can be enjoyed by both experienced and casual players." To be honest, neither player is happy with the current situation. So now the overall DBD player population is decreasing.
Reason 4
"Because other competitive games where you can see a player's skill rating are booming."
After all, the match between good people is exciting. It's been proven in other games, and it's true in DBD as well.Streamers who are actually good at playing DBD have a lot of viewers, partly because they are good at talking, but most people watch their streams just to see them play. DBD is certainly an asymmetrical game, but it is definitely both a competitive game and a game. If other competitive games have skill ratings and they're excited about it, DBD should show skill ratings as well.

Don't know how the skill rating system works? You can see that by showing the player's skill rating, and it will continue to improve. If the skill rating scoring system is inevitably bad, players will criticize it.

I think we should be able to see at least our own rating, probably note the rating of others, but I think it showing should be disabled by default. Make it so you have to go into the settings to make it viewable, this way newbies won't feel bad about it as they won't know it exists and only the really competitive people will find the setting and turn it on.
I think it would be healthy for the game for people to be able to see it, so they can see that they're getting better when they are stuck in the mushy middle. Right now there is no positive feedback that you're getting better at the game anywhere your matches just always seem hard is my understanding from reading posts. When I started playing killer back in the day with the old rank system I'd get stuck and plateau at a certain level and then something would click and I'd rocket up a few ranks, I didn't really feel a difference in my games but I had the positive feedback of my rank finally moving up that I had gotten better, new players no longer have that.
Also on a purely selfish note I'd like to know what my numbers are.
